The Joys of Cabernet according to our friend George

I don't understand why prescription medicine is allowed to advertise on TV or why anyone would think of trying one of the medicines after listening to the laundry list of warnings of possible side effects.

Suppose Health Services expanded their domain and got to regulate the wine business. Here's a possible outcome of that control.
============================== ======
Do you have feelings  of inadequacy?
Do you suffer from shyness?
Do you sometimes wish you were more assertive?
Do you sometimes feel stressed?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist about Cabernet Sauvignon.

**  See below  **

Cabernet Sauvignon is the safe, natural way to feel better and more confident. It can help ease you out of your shyness and let you tell the world  that you're ready and willing to do just about anything.

You will notice the benefits of Cabernet Sauvignon almost immediately and, with a regimen of regular doses, you'll overcome obstacles that prevent you from living the life you want.

Shyness and awkwardness will be a thing of the past.. You will discover talents you never knew you had.

Cabernet Sauvignon may not be right for everyone. Women who are pregnant or nursing should not use it, but women who wouldn't mind nursing or becoming pregnant are encouraged to try it.

Side effects may include:

Dizziness, nausea, vomiting, incarceration, loss of motor control, loss of clothing, loss of money, delusions of grandeur, table dancing, headache, dehydration, dry mouth, and a desire to sing Karaoke and play all-night Strip Poker, Truth Or Dare, and Naked Twister.

Warnings:

The consumption of Cabernet Sauvignon may make you think you are whispering when you are not.

The consumption of Cabernet Sauvignon may cause you to tell your friends over and over again that you love them.

The consumption of Cabernet Sauvignon may cause you to think  you can sing..

The consumption of Cabernet Sauvignon may create the illusion that you are tougher, smarter, faster and better looking than most people.

Please feel free to share this important information!

LIFE IS A CABERNET OLD CHUM!

CNN: Trump Shouldn’t Call Mass Shooter A ‘Sicko’ Because It’s Stigmatizing
JOHN SEXTON

This strikes me as really pushing for any excuse to attack Trump for any reason whatsoever. CNN has a whole story devoted to shaming Trump for calling the Parkland shooter a “sicko” on the grounds that it’s stigmatizing to people with mental health problems who aren’t all mass shooters of children. From CNN:

In a tweet Thursday, President Donald Trump described someone who would shoot up a school as a “savage sicko.” At CNN’s town hall on the Parkland, Florida, school shootings on Wednesday, NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch described the gunman as “an insane monster” who is “nuts” and crazy.” And at a White House briefing Thursday, the President again used the term “sicko.”

The shooter, Nikolas Cruz, struggled with depression, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and autism, according to a 2016 Florida Department of Children and Families report. But having a mental health diagnosis does not mean he would become violent, many experts say. And although Trump has said he wants to focus on mental health to stop school shootings, calling Cruz a “sicko” doesn’t help, those experts claim…

“When it comes to mental health, language really matters. This is not about being politically correct. It’s about wanting to do everything we can to encourage people to get health treatment that works,” said Ron Honberg, senior policy adviser with the National Alliance on Mental Illness…

MentalHealth.gov, a federal website, cautions against using stigmatizing labels like “crazy.”

“How helpful is calling a black person the n-word? Not only is it disrespectful, it fans racism,” said Pat Corrigan, a distinguished professor of psychology at the Illinois Institute of Technology who manages the National Consortium on Stigma and Empowerment. “Using such language when it comes to people with mental illness is the height of disrespect and the height of ignorance, as it reduces some hugely complex person down to a diagnosis.”

I’m perfectly willing to believe the experts who say people with mental health issues are not, by and large, more likely to be violent than anyone else. But I don’t think anyone thought Trump was referring to a large group of people. He wasn’t suggesting every person with depression is a killer. He was referring to one specific individual who just murdered a bunch of children. He called that person a “sicko” based on their actions, not based on a prior diagnosis he may have received. Are there really a lot of regular people out there thinking, ‘Hey, I’m a sicko, why are you comparing me to this guy?’

MentalHealth.gov does recommend, “Refusing to define [people] by their diagnosis or using labels such as ‘crazy.'” I could be wrong, but I don’t think this advice was intended to apply to mass shooters of children. I’m pretty sure we’re allowed a little leeway to criticize those individuals as sick without people getting the idea we’re attacking every person with a mental problem. I suspect even a lot of people with mental health issues feel Nikolas Cruz was sick, at least morally if not mentally.

As for the n-word comparison, again Trump was talking about the disturbed behavior of one specific mass murderer who just killed 17 people. And he was referring to his sick behavior not an immutable characteristic like his skin color. Do we really have to worry about showing “disrespect” for someone like Nikolas Cruz?

Wait until you see Nancy Pelosi’s “better” border solution

Many Americans support Trump’s plan for a border wall between the U.S. and Mexico.
But Democrats refuse to budge to secure our porous southern border.

Now Nancy Pelosi shared her “better” plan and it left folks scratching their heads.
“I’m not the wall’s biggest advocate in Congress,” Pelsoi told The Arizona Republic.

But, she claims, that doesn’t mean she’s not in favor of proposing “serious” border security measures.

Like what, you ask?

“Mowing the grass.”

You read that right.
To Nancy Pelosi, mowing the grass is “a more serious structure” than a 30-ft wall on the border.

Here’s the full money quote:

“But, again, let’s sit down and talk this through about what makes sense, not some commitment to a promise that we’re going to build a wall and Mexico is going to pay for it. That’s never going to happen.”

“Let’s talk about where a more serious structure might be necessary, where fencing will do or mowing the grass so that people can’t be smuggled through the grass. That’s something — levies, technology, personnel.”

The Free Beacon provides some additional context:

Pelosi joined the Arizona Republic for an interview where she confessed she is not the “biggest advocate in Congress” for the construction of border wall, even if, in the words of the Republic‘s Ron Hansen, it could give “some insurance for the Dreamers.”
….
The debate over immigration reform is expected to continue as the next deadline, March 23, approaches to pass a spending bill and avoid a government shutdown. Pelosi has been a staunch opponent of increasing border security in the form of President Donald Trump’s campaign promise to build a wall along the southern border.

The Democratic leader said that while Trump’s campaign promise to build a wall and have Mexico pay for it was “never going to happen,” she saw opportunity to discuss other security measures. Pelosi, for instance, advocated for “mowing the grass so people can’t be smuggled through the grass” along the southern border.

What are your thoughts on Nancy Pelosi’s “solution”?

U.S. Olympic Athletes Who Bashed Trump Just Got Rude Awakening

Being on the wrong side of President Trump is always a bad idea.
Trump has been winning ever since taking office, but entertainers and athletes alike just can’t come to terms with it.

But two U.S. Olympians who have been bashing Trump just got a rude awakening.
U.S. Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon became a media darling just before the 2018 games began in PyeongChang, South Korea.

He made headlines for criticizing Vice President Pence’s alleged stance on homosexuality.

In response, Pence offered to meet with Rippon to discuss the issue with him,but he refused and doubled-down instead, declaring he would not attend the White House with Team USA.

Breitbart reported:
“RIPPON HAS SAID HE WILL NOT VISIT THE WHITE HOUSE AFTER THE OLYMPICS. INSTEAD, THE SKATER SAYS THAT HE WOULD RATHER DO SOMETHING TO “HELP MY COMMUNITY.”
RIPPON IMMEDIATELY BEGAN HIS ONE-SIDED FEUD WITH VICE PRESIDENT PENCE, AFTER IT WAS ANNOUNCED THAT THE VP WOULD LEAD THE U.S. DELEGATION TO THE WINTER OLYMPICS.
RIPPON ACCUSED THE VP OF ADVOCATING FOR THE FUNDING OF GAY CONVERSION THERAPY, BASED ON A VAGUE REFERENCE ON PENCE’S WEBSITE, WHICH DID NOT SPECIFICALLY MENTION CONVERSION THERAPY.
WHILE THERE’S SOME DISPUTE OVER THE REASONING, RIPPON THEN DECLINED TO MEET WITH PENCE WHEN THE VP OFFERED TO SIT DOWN AND DISCUSS THE ISSUE. RIPPON AND FELLOW GAY ATHLETE GUS KENWORTHY THEN POSTED A PICTURE OF THEM BOTH IN THEIR TEAM USA GEAR, WITH A CAPTION THAT READ: “EAT YOUR HEART OUT, PENCE:”
While of course the media loved him for it, Rippon spoke to soon. He didn’t win anything, so there will be no visit to the White House to decline.

Then there’s the case of U.S. Olympic skier, Lindsey Vonn, who was favored to win gold in the Super G.

She also, like Rippon, has been hypercritical of the Trump administration and declared she would not be representing the President in the worldwide games at all.

However, not long after her comments, she sustained a serious injury.

Breitbart also reported:
“LINDSEY VONN MADE HEADLINES MONTHS AGO, WHEN SHE SAID THAT SHE WOULD NOT TRAVEL TO THE WHITE HOUSE TO CELEBRATE HER VICTORIES AFTER THE WINTER OLYMPICS. NOW THAT VONN HAS SUFFERED A MAJOR SETBACK BY FAILING TO MEDAL IN THE SUPER-G, THE INTERNET IS NOT LETTING THE SKIER FORGET HER PAST STATEMENTS.
IN A DECEMBER 7TH INTERVIEW WITH CNN, VONN STATED THAT SHE WOULD NOT GO TO THE WHITE HOUSE TO CELEBRATE THE OLYMPICS. MOREOVER, VONN SAID THAT SHE DID NOT REPRESENT TRUMP. INSTEAD, THE SKIER CLAIMED THAT SHE REPRESENTED THE “PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES.”
“I HOPE TO REPRESENT THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES, NOT THE PRESIDENT. I TAKE THE OLYMPICS VERY SERIOUSLY AND WHAT THEY MEAN AND WHAT THEY REPRESENT, WHAT WALKING UNDER OUR FLAG MEANS IN THE OPENING CEREMONY.
“I WANT TO REPRESENT OUR COUNTRY WELL. I DON’T THINK THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE CURRENTLY IN OUR GOVERNMENT THAT DO THAT,” VONN TOLD CNN.
WHEN ASKED IF SHE WOULD ACCEPT AN INVITATION TO MEET WITH TRUMP AT THE WHITE HOUSE, VONN DID NOT HOLD BACK.
“ABSOLUTELY NOT. NOPE. BUT I HAVE TO WIN TO BE INVITED. NO, ACTUALLY, I THINK EVERY US TEAM MEMBER IS INVITED, SO NO, I WON’T GO,” SHE SAID. IN THE SAME INTERVIEW, VONN SAID THE REST OF THE WORLD NO LONGER VIEWED AMERICA AS A COUNTRY OF HOPE.”
In both cases, Rippon and Vonn are now having to eat their own words.

Rippon didn’t win anything, and while Vonn did recover in time for the 2018 games, karma reared its ugly head one last time when—in spite of all her endorsements—Vonn didn’t place at all.

Maybe they should have put more energy into competing.

Catholic Priest Defends Legalizing Abortion, Calls Pro-Life People the “Lunatic Fringe”

MICAIAH BILGER
A Catholic priest’s letter to politicians on the Isle of Man is drawing sharp criticism for sympathizing with abortion activists and criticizing pro-lifers.
Monsignor John Devine, dean of the Roman Catholic Church, Isle of Man, wrote a letter to the chief minister recently about his concerns with a proposal to legalize abortion on the island, according to the Church Militant.
While Devine expressed concerns about abortion on demand, his comments about individuals who support abortion and criticism of pro-life advocates quickly drew backlash.
“People who have abortions are not murderers and are not bad people,” Devine wrote.
Later, he said politicians who are pushing to legalize abortion on demand are not bad people, and they are “attempting to do what is right.”
Devine also criticized Catholic pro-life advocates who show photos of aborted babies, describing them as a “lunatic fringe.”
The Rev. Jules Gomes, an Anglican pro-life advocate in the UK, wrote a highly critical response to Devine’s letter in an article for The Conservative Woman this week.
“When the debate on the Abortion Reform Bill on the Isle of Man began in 2017, Msgr Devine sat on the fence until his butt ached,” Gomes said.
On the Isle of Man, abortions are legal if the mother’s life is at risk or if the unborn baby is unlikely to survive birth. However, abortion activists are pushing the island to legalize abortion on demand up to 14 weeks, according to the report.
Gomes continued:
Now he’s written to the Chief Minister of the Isle of Man. Devine’s epistle scandalously misrepresents and seriously distorts Catholic teaching. It abounds in logical fallacies and moral contradictions. He first derides members of his church and other Christians as the ‘lunatic fringe’ for using images of aborted babies in demonstrations.

He claims that ‘these protesters cannot presume to speak on the Church’s behalf’. Perhaps Devine missed Vatican II’s aggiornamento which made it clear that the Church is not the hierarchy but the People of God. Perhaps he regards himself as the voice of the Church.

After dismissing the lunatic fringe, he rolls in the hay with the heretic fringe. ‘People who have abortions are not murderers and are not bad people,’ he pontificates. Devine is blissfully ignorant or wilfully lying. For 2,000 years the Catholic Church has called abortion murder.

Across the world, the Catholic Church has been one of the strongest advocates for the lives of unborn babies. The church teaches that every human life is valuable, from conception to natural death, and deserving of protection.

The Catholic Militant said Devine has failed as a priest because he has not reinforced the intrinsic evil of abortion.

No good can come from legalizing the destruction of unborn babies’ lives, no matter what “right” intentions abortion activists may have.

Report: Four of Sheriff Scott Israel’s Deputies Waited Outside Douglas High During School Shooting

by AWR HAWKINS

PARKLAND, FL - FEBRUARY 14: Scott Israel, Sheriff of Broward County, (L) and Florida Governor Rick Scott speak to the media as they visit Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School after a shooting at the school killed 17 people on February 14, 2018 in Parkland, Florida. Numerous law enforcement officials continue to investigate the scene. (Photo by Joe Raedle/Getty Images)

A report released Friday claims four of Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel’s deputies waited outside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School while the attack was occurring.

On February 22 Breitbart News reported that one deputy resigned after it was learned that he was on scene but failed to control Nikolas Cruz. Sheriff Israel told ABC 13 that video shows the deputy, Scott Peterson, “arrive at the west side of Building 12” and “take a position” outside the school — but never go inside. The sheriff’s office moved to suspend Peterson, who resigned before the suspension could take place.
Now CNN reports that the Coral Springs police officers claim three other Broward County deputies were outside the school but failed to go inside as well. They quote “Coral Springs sources” who said the three “deputies had their pistols drawn and were behind their vehicles” when Coral Springs officers arrived. They said “not one of [the deputies] had gone into the school.”
The sources indicate other Broward County deputies arrived on scene, and two of those new arrivals joined with Coral Springs officers and entered the building.
The sources said, “Coral Springs police were stunned and upset that the four original Broward County Sheriff’s deputies who were first on the scene did not appear to join them as they entered the school.”
Coral Springs Police Department public information officer Sgt. Carla Kmiotek would not comment on what Broward County deputies did or did not do. Rather, “The Coral Springs Police Department will speak on behalf of our officers and their response in that incident,” she said. “We will not speak on behalf of Broward Sheriff’s deputies and their response to the incident.”

GOP Governor Turns Tail and Runs into Arms of Leftist Gun Groups

There are certain times in the history of this great nation when we, as a people, will face extreme hardships and grief.  This week is one of those times.
Thanks to the actions of Nikolas Cruz, a mentally disturbed teen who attacked his former classmates in Florida last week, killing 17 and wounding dozens more, our days are now filled with incredibly disheartening reinterpretations of the American spirit and the very idea of liberty.
We are currently being harassed and provoked by liberal contingent who has absolute nore spect or reverence for the Second Amendment, and their dangerous push for a rethinking of American gun rights is tragically gaining steam.
The liberal media is, our course, a huge progenitor of this sort of angsty drivel.  Their reckless use of linguistics and semantics has prompted a number of violent incidents in the United States over the course of the last year, including a rifle attack on GOP congressmen on a Virginia baseball field, and the anarchistic riots of Berkeley, California.
Now, in an effort to appease these leftist goons, who have shown no remorse for their violent turn, a number of republicans are tucking their tails and cowering beneath the visage of the democratic party’s push to completely destroy our right to bear arms.  One such politician is Florida Governor Rick Scott, who recently slithered a great distance to the left in order to disparage our nation’s most important liberty.
“CNN reports that Scott is pushing a ‘Violent Threat Restraining Order,’ which are similar to California’s Gun Violence Restraining Orders in that they a designed to secure court orders to confiscate firearms following a family member’s complaint.
“It is difficult to see how such orders–designed to be triggered by family requests–would have been effective against Nikolas Cruz. After all, the family with which he was staying repeatedly called the police on him in November 2017 but refused to file charges when sheriff’s deputies arrived. A member of the family with which Cruz was staying explained away Cruz’s erratic behavior by saying he ‘had been suffering significantly from the loss of his mother’ earlier in the month.
“Scott is also pushing a bump stock ban, ‘tougher background checks,’ more stringent rules against the mentally ill, and a ban on purchasing or possessing firearms by anyone ‘subject to an injunction for protection against stalking, cyberstalking, dating violence, repeat violence, sexual violence, or domestic violence.'”
That wide, wide list of ailments could undoubtedly be abused in order to simply reduce the number of firearms in our supposedly “free” nation.  This is the all-too-prevalent fear of the patriotic.
In these difficult times, standing your ground on American liberty can be a daunting task.  The left is far too adept at playing our emotions against us, as they have shown us in the wake of this recent tragedy.  Only the weak shall succumb to their perverse games, however, as Rick Scott has shown us today.

Democrats just realized their worst nightmare is about to come true

Democrats are facing a major dilemma.

They believe control of Congress is within their grasp.

But one demand made them realize their worst nightmare is about to come true.
After the shooting in Parkland, Florida, the Democrat base has become unglued.

They are marching on state capitols and demanding new gun control.

And while this may rile up urban liberals and so-called “journalists” it has the potential to alienate the majority of the country that supports the Second Amendment.

The Hill reports:

“But the issue is a delicate one for party leaders hoping to flip both chambers in this year’s midterm elections by defeating Republicans in conservative-leaning districts where tougher gun laws can be radioactive.

As the issue continues to dominate the headlines, some Democrats back an understated approach, particularly with vulnerable Democrats like Sens. Heidi Heitkamp(N.D.) and Joe Manchin (W.Va.) up for reelection in red states.

“It’s certainly more of a base issue than in years past,” said one Senate Democratic aide who works for a senator who has been mentioned as a 2020 presidential candidate.

But the aide said the strategy wouldn’t be effective everywhere…
…Democrats paid a steep political price after championing an assault weapons ban in 1994 and are wary of energizing the GOP base.

One former Democratic leadership aide put it bluntly: “How do you keep from having a conversation about sensible changes be turned into ‘They want to take your guns away’?”

But the Democrats may not have a choice.
Their voter base may drag them to finally admit they want to confiscate everyone’s guns.

At CNN’s anti-gun pep rally, activists booed mentions of rape survivors, called the NRA’s spokeswoman a murderer and erupted into wild cheers at the suggestion government should ban all rifles.

It’s clear the energy on the left is with the gun grabbers.

And with Democrats needing to defend ten Senate seats in red states – and needing to flip Trump districts in the House – it may cost them victory in November.

Rap Star T.I.: ‘It’s Easy for Government to Enslave People when They Don’t Have the Right to Bear Arms’

by JEROME HUDSON

Rapper-actor T.I. may have slightly more felonies than Grammy Awards, but the reality TV star says the only thing standing between free Americans and government enslavement is the Second Amendment.

Asked by TMZ what side he takes in the now-brewing debate about guns, in the wake of the Parkland, Florida, shooting, T.I. says “It’s a tough one.”
“I think you should probably make it more difficult for people who aren’t mentally stable to have guns, and maybe there should be some,” T.I. — real name Clifford Harris — said, adding, “I just honestly feel like if you lose the right to bear arms as a citizen, then you know what I’m saying, it’s easy to enslave.”
“It’s easy for the government to enslave people when they don’t have the right to bear arms,” the three-time Grammy Award-winner said.
T.I. also said that most of the deadly shootings in recent years have been perpetrated by people who purchase guns legally.
“I think mental stabilization needs to be a big part . . . Just not being a felon isn’t enough. We see that, that isn’t working. People think that the felons that’s causing all the problems, but you know, it seems as though people who have been given a gun license, who bought guns legally… Those are the ones causing all the mass hysteria, so I think that our system’s broken.”
The 37-year-old rapper is certainly no NRA card-carrying conservative, he has referred to President Trump as a “f...ing tangerine tanned muskrat scrotum skin, lacefront possum fur wig wearing, alternative fact, atomic dog diarrhea face a** man.”
But the veteran rapper does love his firearms, so much that he’s willing to face jail time for them. T.I. was arrested in 2007 and charged with illegally purchasing firearms as a convicted felon. The guns, T.I. said at the time, were meant to protect himself and his family after his best friend was killed in a shootout.

Trump Breaks from CPAC Address, Reads ‘The Snake’ in Entirety
by IAN MASON

President Donald Trump, after asking the crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) for permission to go off script Friday, read the entire 1963 “snake poem” he used to such effect on the campaign trail.

The lyrics, adapted in 1963 by songwriter Oscar Brown from Aesop’s Fable “The Farmer and the Viper,” ends with an altruistic woman who saves a dying snake being fatally bitten, only for the snake to “sigh” and say “You knew damn well I was a snake before you took me in.”
Trump used the poem frequently as an allegory for the Syrian Refugee Crisis and “generous” immigration policy that puts the interests of foreigners above that of Americans.
At his second CPAC address as president Trump turned away from the teleprompters, pulling what appeared to be a copy of The Snake out of his pocket from the CPAC podium at the Gaylord Resort and Convention Center at National Harbor outside Washington, DC.
“Did anyone ever hear me do The Snake during the campaign?” Trump asked the standing room only CPAC crowd. “Because I had five people outside say, ‘Could you do The Snake?”
“So this is called ‘The Snake,'” President Trump said, “and think of it in terms of immigration, and you may love it, or you may say, ‘Isn’t that terrible.'”
“And if you say ‘isn’t that terrible,’ who cares,” Trump quickly clarified and gestured toward the media pen. “Because compared to the way they treat me, that’s peanuts.”
The Oscar Brown-penned lyrics Trump read go as follows:
On her way to work one morning
Down the path alongside the lake
A tender-hearted woman saw a poor half-frozen snake
His pretty colored skin had been all frosted with the dew
“Oh well,” she cried, “I’ll take you in and I’ll take care of you”
“Take me in oh tender woman
Take me in, for heaven’s sake
Take me in oh tender woman,” sighed the snake
She wrapped him up all cozy in a curvature of silk
And then laid him by the fireside with some honey and some milk
Now she hurried home from work that night as soon as she arrived
She found that pretty snake she’d taken in had been revived
“Take me in, oh tender woman
Take me in, for heaven’s sake
Take me in oh tender woman,” sighed the snake
Now she clutched him to her bosom, “You’re so beautiful,” she cried
“But if I hadn’t brought you in by now you might have died”
Now she stroked his pretty skin and then she kissed and held him tight
But instead of saying thanks, that snake gave her a vicious bite
“Take me in, oh tender woman
Take me in, for heaven’s sake
Take me in oh tender woman,” sighed the snake
“I saved you,” cried that woman
“And you’ve bit me even, why?
You know your bite is poisonous and now I’m going to die”
“Oh shut up, silly woman,” said the reptile with a grin
“You knew damn well I was a snake before you took me in.”
“And that’s what we’re doing with our country folks. We’re letting a lot of people in, and it’s gonna be a lot of trouble. It’s only getting worse,” Trump said, putting the paper with the lyrics back in his suit pocket.

Former Air Marshal: Arming Pilots Post-9/11 Worked, So Will Arming Teachers
by ROBERT KRAYCHIK

Proposals to arm teachers and other staffers to better secure schools against mass shooters are worthwhile, just as arming pilots was following 9/11, said Chad Robichaux on Thursday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Tonight in an interview with hosts Rebecca Mansour and Joel Pollak.

Robichaux is a former Special Agent with the U.S. Federal Air Marshal Service (FAMS). His work with the FAMS included the development and implementation of the Federal Flight Deck Officer (FFDO) program — including training the first wave of armed pilots following 9/11 — after the Islamic terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, which screened, trained, and armed pilots.
Just as arming pilots following 9/11 has been successful in deterring hijackings and other terrorist operations, said Robichaux, so would arming teachers and school staffers be.
Armed personnel on site offer a quicker response time than law enforcement can typically provide to mass shooting scenarios, said Robichaux: “These shootings go down at these schools in an average of three minutes, and it takes up to eight minutes for law enforcement to respond, and that’s eight minutes too late.”
Left-wing resistance to defending school children via the arming of teachers and school staff resembles similar hostility toward the FFDO program’s arming of pilots, said Robichaux.
“There was a lot of pushback [to the FFDO],” said Robichaux. “People said, ‘You can’t trust these pilots with firearms.’ Well, you trust them flying your airplane. So now people are saying, ‘We can’t trust teachers with firearms.’ We trust them with our children.”
Proposals to arm teachers and school staffers “shouldn’t be written off as a ridiculous idea,” said Robichaux. “Some schools in Texas and Colorado are already doing this [with] teachers having concealed carry in their classrooms.”
Robichaux favorably recalled Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr.’s support for concealed carrying of firearms on the university’s campus.
The FFDO “extremely” screens and vets pilots, including 6-month intervals for retraining with firearms and scenarios. “We don’t arm every pilot. We wouldn’t arm every teacher, but the right ones,” said Robichaux.
Schools would cease being “soft targets” via the arming of teachers and school staffers, said Robichaux.
Knowledge of armed personnel on school campuses would dissuade prospective mass shooters from targeting said schools, said Robichaux: “Even if someone is willing to die for their cause, no one wants to be shot back at,” said Robichaux. “No one wants to get shot back at.”
Mansour described “gun-free zones” as magnets for those who wish to murder others en masse: “It just seems to make perfect sense. If you make someplace a ‘gun-free zone,’ that is automatically a target for people that want to do evil and start killing people. You’re basically announcing that we are not armed and taking away any element of surprise that a place might have if the shooter goes in.”
Robichaux is also a decorated United States Marine Corps’ Force Reconnaissance veteran as well as president and founder of the Mighty Oaks Foundation, an organization providing assistance to veterans. It describes itself as “committed to serving brokenhearted [warriors] by providing intensive peer-based discipleship through a series of programs, outpost meetings, and speaking events.”
