My Life in Caffarena
[Guest post by Greta Cencetti in Caffarena, Italy]
Caffarena is a very small village in Appennino, in the Liguria countryside. When I lived there for many months, I carried my sketchbook with me all the time to try to understand the people and place. It is a magic place, with magic people. These are sketches of this wonderful period of my life.
I studied dialect and structure of the country, in big and little things.
The Caffarena houses have an ancient structure, natural materials, stone and wood.
Everything, in fact, seemed out of time. Buildings, places, people, objects seemed suspended in time.
I saw Ferret Moretta, Virgil's mule, standing in the square with her good and deep look.
I picked cherries and wild flowers. I talked in dialect with marvelous people.
A rainy day in front at the Virgilio home, some chickens sleep under the stone stairs.
And the gardens are wonders of wonders, built on steep terraces.
Everything is a piece of poetry.
All of this place came into my heart.
Greta Cencetti is from Genoa, Italy. She is a painter and illustrator. She lives with a white rabbit called Oklahoma. Greta tries to tell the story of her country. See more of her work at http://ift.tt/2oLFqVa
