Country sketches. Winning a local award
[by Javier de Blas in La Rioja, Spain] This drawing belongs to the monastery and hermitage of Lomos de Orio, in Sierra Cebollera, La Rioja, Spain. I like it specially cause its hermit is an sculptor called “El Pájaro” (The Bird) who I love very much, not only because he is my friend, but because of his casual and genuine way of understanding life and art.In May there I came over to Sierra Cebollera for a “sketch rally” call (see posts Rural buildings, Firebreak and Rapids) and spent the whole day drawing different places around, but this was special. To get the monastery you drive by a full of curves road till you see this beautiful “conical” panorama among the beech, oak, poplar and pine trees.
I won a local firs price with this drawing. I was happy cause a great bit of my heart was in that drawing.
