Outed at the flea market

Every month the Place d'Armes comes alive with a flea market. Old books, stamps and antiques can be found next to second hand furniture and even animal trophies.

Last week I stumbled upon this month's flea market and took the opportunity to make a couple of sketches.

Tourists and regulars alike seemed interested in what was on offer that day and I, in turn, was interested in them.

I was ideally located to sketch one of the stands and its occupants, two people I had seen there in previous months.

One of their friends standing next to me "outed" me and had to show them my sketch. I'm always a bit nervous to show strangers how I sketched them (you never know what reaction they will have), but in this case they loved it and even asked if I would come back next month to finish the sketch.
