Broncos star has one burning question for anthem protesters
By Bryan Chai
While Sunday may well go down in history as the day the NFL lost its mind over anthem protests, one NFL star isn’t joining the chaos.
Denver Broncos defensive end Derek Wolfe has been unapologetically pro-national anthem. So while the rest of the NFL spent Sunday kneeling and linking arms as a direct response to President Donald Trump’s condemnation of anthem protesters, Wolfe just has one question for all of them.
“[I]t’s AMERICA! The greatest country in the world and if you don’t think we are the greatest country in the world and you reside here, then why do you stay?” Wolfe said in a statement provided to ESPN’s Josina Anderson.
And it’s a very good question that most NFL anthem protesters may struggle to eloquently answer.
It’s also a question that many NFL fans have. Most NFL players would have to master soccer to make comparable money in any country outside of the United States. Considering that football and fútbol are two entirely different sports, that seems unlikely.
The Broncos still participated in anthem protests Sunday. Wolfe did acknowledge that America is a free country, and its citizens are free to peaceably protest, but he didn’t join.
Broncos national anthem. #4Broncos
While star linebackers Von Miller and Brandon Marshall both knelt, you can clearly see Wolfe (No. 95) standing with his hand over his chest in the bottom right image posted on Twitter by KCNC-TV’s Michael Spencer.
And Wolfe has a pretty good reasoning for wanting to stand as well.
“I stand because I respect the men who died in real battle so I have the freedom to battle on the field,” Wolfe said. “Paying tribute to the men and women who have given their lives for our freedom is why I stand. But everyone these days likes to find a reason to protest and that’s their right. It’s America and you are free to speak your mind. I just feel it’s disrespectful to the ones who sacrificed their lives and it’s maybe the wrong platform.”
But just in case it wasn’t readily evident, Wolfe made his ultimate case to end his statement.
“Proud to be an American.”
Major U.S. Enemy Opens Fire…
Benjamin Welton
When it comes to missile tests, the entire world is currently focused on the communist dictatorship of North Korea. However, one of America’s oldest enemies just recently fired a missile that could directly threaten U.S. military installations in the Middle East.
According to the Daily Caller, on Saturday, Tehran publicly announced that they had successfully tested a medium-range ballistic missile that was capable of traveling up to 1,200 miles. This rocket, called the Khorramshahr missile, was broadcast on Iranian state television.
Reuters reported that Iranian TV said, “You are seeing images of the successful test of the Khorramshahr ballistic missile with a range of 2,000 km, the latest missile of our country.”
As you may have guessed, the US was not terribly happy with this missile demonstration. We stand poised to strike and at the ready at all times.
President Trump wrote on Twitter, “Iran just test-fired a Ballistic Missile capable of reaching Israel. They are also working with North Korea.”
The US government warned that the Khorramshahr missile could carry multiple warheads at once. Given this, Iran and North Korea seem intent on following the same path vis-a-vis saber rattling. President Trump is also correct that Pyongyang and Tehran work closely together in regards to their missile programs.
The Diplomat has written that: “While media coverage on Iran-North Korea military cooperation has focused principally on technician exchanges between the two countries and nuclear cooperation, ballistic missile development has been the most consistent area of Tehran-Pyongyang technological cooperation since the Iran nuclear deal was signed in 2015. This collaboration explains the striking similarities between Iranian EMAD and North Korean Nodong missiles.”
Besides this close cooperation, it is also worrying that Iran chose to perform this missile test just after President Trump gave a rousing address to the United Nations about the threat posed by the North Korean missile program.
Unlike North Korea, Iran has the money to support an enlarged military state. Iran is also a growing hegemon in Middle East, especially since the Syrian Civil War has been all but won by the Iranian- and Russian-backed Syrian Arab Army of President Bashar al-Assad. Similarly, while Coalition aircraft have played a big role in driving out ISIS fighters in Iraq, Iranian-backed Shi’ite militias have performed a lot of the on-the-ground work, thus enhancing Tehran’s sway over Baghdad.
As President Trump makes more and more noise about leaving Obama’s Iranian nuclear deal, expect Iran to tests more missiles and to warn President Trump against either leaving the deal or trying to punish Iran for violating the terms of the agreement.
Iran and North Korea both recognize that many Americans would like to see their current regimes toppled. By threatening the US and American allies with nuclear annihilation, these dictatorships are trying to guarantee a future for their regimes.
A smarter US response would follow the path of Ronald Reagan, who recognized that the hollowness of the Soviet regime could not sustain itself. Let Iran and North Korea waste money on their armament programs while using violence to suppress individual freedoms at home.
The FBI Caught in Plot to Undermine Trump

Something fishy is going on in the nation’s top law enforcement agencies.
The FBI just missed its third deadline to produce subpoenaed documents related to the so-called Trump dossier to the House Intelligence Committee.
Subpoena deadlines not met
On Aug. 24, the House Intelligence Committee subpoenaed the FBI and the Department of Justice (DOJ) for internal agency reports “incorporating, relying on, or referring to” any information provided by former British spy Christopher Steele, the author of the widely discredited “Trump dossier.”

Steele was commissioned by the opposition research firm, Fusion GPS, to compile a report regarding allegations of collusion between the Kremlin and Trump campaign officials. These allegations have been widely discredited. Fusion GPS was reportedly paid by supporters of Hillary Clinton.
The committee also sought documents on any FBI or DOJ “efforts to corroborate, validate, or evaluate” Steele’s claims.
The Washington Examiner reported:
Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes [R-Calif.] originally set a Sept. 1 deadline for production of the dossier documents. The FBI did not comply. Nunes then extended the deadline to Sept. 14. The FBI did not comply. Then Nunes extended the deadline again, to Sept. 22. Now, again, the FBI has not complied.
Nunes now wants to know whether the FBI used the dossier’s “salacious and unverified” allegations as a basis to order surveillance against Trump campaign officials.
“Salacious and unverified” claims
The Examiner reported that FBI considered taking over the dossier project in the closing months of the 2016 presidential campaign, which Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said raised “questions about the FBI’s independence from politics.”
Comey’s July 2016 press conference added credence to this notion when he appeared to lay out a case against Clinton for her cavalier handling of classified information in official emails, but concluded that “we are expressing to Justice our view that no charges are appropriate in this case.”
And what of Fusion GPS?
And it’s not just the FBI and DOJ under fire. Congress is also seeking answers from Fusion GPS.
New York Post reported:
The Senate Judiciary Committee earlier this month threatened to subpoena the firm, Fusion GPS, after it refused to answer questions and provide records to the panel identifying who financed the error-ridden dossier, which was circulated during the election and has sparked much of the Russia scandal now engulfing the White House.
“These weren’t mercenaries or hired guns,” a congressional source familiar with the dossier probe told the Post. “These guys had a vested personal and ideological interest in smearing Trump and boosting Hillary’s chances of winning the White House.”
So did the FBI rely on the Christopher Steele’s fantastical “smear dossier” in its investigation? We still don’t know. But if they have nothing to hide, why refuse to produce the evidence?

Missed deadlines are nothing new, in government as well as the private sector. But when they reach this point, one can’t help but smell a rat.
Armed Usher Takes Down Armed Sudanese Man Who Came Into Church and Killed a Woman, Wounded Six
BY BRISTOL PALIN
This is the most terrible story, going to church this morning and having this happen?
What is going on with our world? The Daily Mail reports that the cops have released the identity of a Sudanese bodybuilder who walked into an Antioch, Tennessee church — this is near Nashville — and began firing. The gunman, Emanuel Kidega Samson, shot and killed Melanie Crow Smith who was only 39 years old. How sad that Melanie got up this morning and got ready for church, only for this to happen. Praying for her family. This all happened at Burnette Chapel Church of Christ as services let out at 11.15 am. Here’s more from The Daily Mail:
The attack only stopped thanks to the brave actions of an armed church usher.
Robert Engle, 22, identified by friends on social media, had ran up to confront Samson and despite being repeatedly pistol-whipped in the head, was able to force Samson to shoot himself in the leg.
‘There was a significant struggle between the two,’ he said. ‘During the struggle, the gunman shot himself, probably not intentionally.’
Engle then went to his car, grabbed his pistol, and returned to hold the shooter at gunpoint.
‘This particular church member has a handgun carry permit,’ Aaron added. ‘The usher went to his vehicle, got his gun, came back inside and made sure the gunman didn’t make anymore movements until the police department arrived.’
Thank you, Lord, for our Second Amendment! This tragedy could’ve been even more horrible – but was stopped because someone was using their rights and jumped in to protect the innocent.

Armed Texan Intervenes, Stops Alleged Sexual Assault of Female Jogger
Court documents filed this week claim an armed good Samaritan intervened and stopped an alleged sexual assault after hearing a female runner scream.
The incident occurred on a running trail near Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas.
According to the Austin American-Statesman, an affidavit claims the unidentified female was running around 5:46 a.m. when she began to hear loud steps closing in behind her. Suddenly, “the victim was grabbed behind by the suspect with both the suspect’s arms, (bear hug).” The victim said both she and the suspect fell to the ground “and she was on her back and the suspect was on top of her.”
The woman said she tried to use a whistle to attract help but the suspect had her pinned down. Moreover, he placed his hand over her mouth to mute her screams.
The suspect allegedly told the woman that he was “a virgin” as he assaulted her.
At some point, the woman was able to scream and nearby armed jogger heard her. He ran toward the scream with his handgun and flashlight drawn and ordered the suspect to get off the woman. The attacker allegedly stood up “naked from the waist down” and took off running with the woman’s shoes and shorts.
The partially naked woman walked toward the jogger who was holding the flashlight in hopes of finding protection.
Three days later, police arrested 22-year-old Richard Jordon McEachern and accused him of perpetrating the assault. Police are also investigating whether McEachern may have been involved in a similar assault–carried out by grabbing another female jogger from behind–on August 22.
On January 12, 2017, the New York Times editorial board wrote against expanding the opportunities for armed citizens to be armed for self-defense. The paper claimed, “The grim truth is that concealed-carry permit holders are rarely involved in stopping crime.”

At Planned Parenthood’s Expansion Clinic in Kansas City, 8 out of 11 Reject Abortion
Kansas City, MO – Planned Parenthood had gleefully announced that medication abortions would begin last week in Kansas City after a long-sought facility license was granted by the Missouri Department of Health. By the end of the week, Planned Parenthood and their elderly abortionist, Ronald Yeomans, may not have been quite so happy.
Last Monday, as Christians from Kansas and Missouri prayed and offered help outside shabby mid-town Planned Parenthood, eleven women received informed consent for abortion information and began their 72-hour waiting period, as required by Missouri law.
On Thursday, the day the women would return for their abortion drugs, Kathy Forck, who leads a pro-life street presence in Columbia, Missouri, went back to Kansas City and joined up with a team of Kansas City sidewalk activists led by Wendy Curtis. The activists to continues to pray for the women and their babies and offer practical assistance – before it was too late.
According to Forck, the Christians left rejoicing about the outcome.
“The results were these — only four of the eleven moms from Monday came back and one of them at the last minute chose life and spoke with a KC sidewalk advocate who affirmed her in her choice for life. The young mom had a very faithful friend with her who supported the young mom in keeping her baby!” said Forck.
That means eight women who intended to abort their babies at Planned Parenthood in Kansas City changed their minds!
Planned Parenthood must have been surprised that only three women showed up to actually go through with their abortions. That represented a significant loss of expected income for the new abortion center.
Despite evidence that there may be little demand in Missouri for abortions, Planned Parenthood hasn’t given up on their expansion plans even though the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled earlier this month that Missouri may enforce their licensing requirements while a court challenge is pending.
Now, Planned Parenthood of the Greater St. Louis Region, which hoped to expand into Joplin and Springfield, has filed with the U. S. Supreme Court to force the Department of Health to issue licenses to their two locations and another in Columbia, which is operated by Planned Parenthood Great Plains.
Planned Parenthood offices in Kansas City, Columbia, Joplin, and Springfield have no licensed physician that has qualified for hospital privileges within 30 miles of those facilities, which is required under the current Missouri law.
The Kansas City office was allowed to continue offering medication abortions only because it was licensed under the injunction that preceded the Eighth Circuit’s decision.
“We rejoice with the pro-life advocates who stood vigil at Planned Parenthood in Kansas City last week, and thank God for the blessing of saved lives,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue, which encouraged activists in the Kansas City area to cover the new abortion facility. “We pray that the state will be victorious over Planned Parenthood’s Supreme Court petition and over its lawsuit so lives can continue to be saved.”
5 Problems With The NFL’s National Anthem Protest
For many people, these national anthem knees simply come off like people being jerks about the national anthem because they don't like President Trump.
By Mollie Hemingway
At a Friday rally in Alabama, President Donald Trump criticized football players who protest during the national anthem:
Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a b-tch off the field right now. Out. He’s fired. He’s fired!’ You know, some owner is going to do that. He’s going to say, ‘That guy that disrespects our flag, he’s fired.’ And that owner, they don’t know it. They don’t know it. They’ll be the most popular person, for a week. They’ll be the most popular person in this country. Because that’s a total disrespect of our heritage, a total disrespect of everything we stand for.
I know we have freedoms and we have freedom of choice, but it’s still disrespectful.
He went on to say that ratings are down because the game itself has gotten boring, but also because “When people like yourselves turn on television and you see those people taking the knee when they are playing our great national anthem.” He suggested that fans simply leave the stadium when this happens.
In response, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell issued a statement that said, “Divisive comments like these demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL, our great game and all of our players, and a failure to understand the overwhelming force for good our clubs and players represent in our communities.”
Then in a move that should have surprised no one, Sunday became a national anthem protest day around the league. Many players took a knee during the anthem, some stood with raised fists. Entire teams remained in their locker rooms during the national anthem. And Bills running back LeSean McCoy, who was on my fantasy football team years ago when I still cared about the NFL, took the opportunity to stretch out during the national anthem.
Here are five reasons the NFL anthem protests are not going as well as the media would like to think.
1. Vague And Unclear Protest Goals
One of the keys to a good protest is to have a clear goal. If the discussions on Sunday were any indication, nobody is entirely clear what is being protested when athletes kneel during the national anthem. CNN said yesterday’s display was about opposition to Trump:
The opening paragraph in the Los Angeles Times story on the protests said they were about “the relentless vortex of controversy that surrounds President Trump, as players from London to New England to Carson knelt or linked arms Sunday while others stayed in the locker room during the national anthem.” Later the story said the protests during the national anthem were meant to “draw attention to racism and social injustice.”
The national anthem protests began last year, before Donald Trump was elected the first time, when then-professional quarterback Colin Kaepernick took a knee for a variety of reasons.
Kaepernick, who has sat and knelt during the anthem, has said he refused to honor a song or ‘show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.’ He also referenced the shootings of black men by police as one of reasons for his stance.
As for the latter claim, Mary Katharine Ham noted on CNN yesterday, disapproval of Black Lives Matter has gone up from 20 percent in 2016 to nearly 60 percent in the August Harvard-Harris poll.
Even in Kaepernick’s lengthy press conference last year, it was a bit unclear what the goals of the protest action are, or what it would take to declare victory and cease protesting. At that press conference, Kaepernick unfortunately wore a T-shirt of photos commemorating Malcolm X meeting Fidel Castro. As the better half wrote last year:
The biggest problem here is that Kaepernick is seemingly unaware of Castro’s legacy. Aside from Castro dragooning and executing Christians and gays, Castro’s record on racial justice is decidedly not ‘woke’, as the Internet likes to say. While Cuba’s legacy of racism predates Castro, it’s safe to say overt racism against individuals of African ancestry there remains far more pronounced than it is in the United States. In fact, racism is kind of an unstated official policy.
In other Kaepernick fashion news, he also wore socks with pictures of pigs dressed like police officers. In any case, if the goal was an end to police brutality against black men, the movement seems to have gone off the rails a bit. Surely lack of awareness is not the problem regarding police officers and the killing of unarmed black men. What is the protest movement accomplishing other than increasing opposition to Black Lives Matter and bothering fans?
2. The NFL’s Utter Inconsistency
Goodell and NFL owners were adamant this weekend that players had the right to express themselves without fear of any retaliation. This even though there are rules that the NFL could apply to stop protests of the national anthem. Yet, as David Marcus wrote last year:
After the tragic murders of five Dallas police officers in July, the Dallas Cowboys asked the NFL if players could wear a decal on their helmets commemorating the officers’ sacrifice. In this case, the NFL did not support its players when they wanted to see change in society. When the Cowboys wanted to send the message that police officers should not be hunted and assassinated, the NFL gave a clear answer: no.
There were rules the NFL chose to apply to stop the wearing of decals to commemorate the murder of five Dallas police officers working to protect the people at an organized protest of police brutality.
The NFL fines players for dancing in the end zone. It threatens fines for 9/11 tributes. It shows leniency for other issues, such as domestic violence, but it needs to show more consistency about on-field behavior.
3. The Terms of Debate Couldn’t Be Worse For the NFL
The media were thrilled by the protests on Sunday, which they perceived to be against Trump. But the way many Americans viewed these protests was not nearly so favorable as it was to people in New York and DC newsrooms.
Some of the national anthem protesters took their knees before a game in London, on foreign soil. The players followed that by standing for “God Save The Queen.” If you don’t know what’s problematic with that show of respect for a foreign country’s anthem while protesting your own on foreign soil, I doubt it could be explained to you.
For many people, in part because of the vagueness of the protest goals, these national anthem knees simply come off like people being jerks about the national anthem because they don’t like Trump. Which, it turns out, is not a great way to get the public on one’s side.
As president-elect, Trump proposed jail for flag-burners. We barely remember the outrage cycle that ensued on the part of the media, because in fact punishment for flag burning is far more popular than people in newsrooms realize. In his rally, Trump positioned himself, and his supporters, on the side of the flag and patriotism. This wasn’t difficult for him to do, because many Americans have been viewing these as protests against a country they love.
For the NFL owners to take the bait and up the ante was not the wisest response to Trump’s rhetoric on Friday.
4. The NFL Can’t Afford the Struggle
The NFL is facing a ratings slide, with much less fan engagement than they’d like. While many of the league’s problems have nothing to do with politics, the anthem protests are causing some problems, according to a July CBS Sports story:
According to a recent survey from J.D. Power, national anthem protests that originated with Colin Kaepernick led a list of reasons people tuned out of NFL games last season. The poll consisted of 9,200 people who attended a football, basketball or hockey game, and asked them if they tuned into fewer games and why.
Per the poll, 26 percent of viewers cited the protests as the reason. Coming in second, 24 percent said that it was because of the league’s off-field image issues, such as domestic abuse, and general game delays, such as penalties. Twenty percent said that it was because of excessive commercials…
Frontline reported on numbers from the Department of Veterans Affairs and Boston University, where researchers studied the brains of 165 people who played football at the high school, college, or professional level. They found evidence of CTE in 131 of them—79 percent. Of the brains studied, 91 of them belonged to former NFL players, and 87 of those 91 (96 percent) had signs of CTE.
5. The Media Fan Flames, Stupidly
Another problem for the NFL is that a fight between celebrity football players and a celebrity president is ratings gold. So expect nonstop coverage that inflames the issue in a way that benefits the activist extremes and the president, but few other people.
Journalists went to their favorite Trump line of attack:
Yes, because if there is one thing that we know about Trump, it’s that he never criticizes any white people. He is not known for insulting Jeb Bush, Carly Fiorina, Ted Cruz, John McCain, Hillary Clinton, or Megyn Kelly. Nosiree.
There are so many legitimate lines of critique against President Trump, including that he sure seems to pick culture war battles when he’s failing politically. Or that it’s untoward for a president to weigh in on employment and speech issues, though recently we seem to have presidents who do just that. Even on that score, the media tend to be ignorant of any problem associated with the immediate past president, as some of these exchanges indicated:
Imagine a very religious group of Catholic nuns called the Little Sisters of the Poor had to engage in a costly seven-year legal battle to keep the Obama administration from forcing them to pay for abortions against their conscience or pay fines that would end their work. Imagine that. It shouldn’t be difficult to imagine since they’re still waging this battle on account of onerous regulatory mandates from the Obama administration. Of course, this violation of First Amendment freedoms didn’t include a cuss word, so I guess it’s less newsworthy.
The president is exploiting fan disappointment with the NFL and a general public dissatisfaction with divisive protests that lack clear goals. Despite the fame and wealth of players and owners, the NFL is not as well positioned here as its media defenders seem to think.

While Whiny NFL Players Protested Our Flag, Trump Made an Epic Move for Gold Star Families
BY CILLIAN ZEAL
Gold Star Mother’s and Family’s Day
The big story this Sunday was the media celebrating the bravery of NFL players to stand up against the American flag in order to protest President Donald Trump, inequality, racism and stuff. It was practically inescapable — and it made the crypto-liberals at ESPN giddy with the prospect of their agenda so fully enmeshing with the subject they’re supposed to be covering.
The whole thing, of course, was precipitated by Trump’s comments at a rally for Alabama Senate candidate Luther Strange during which the president asked the audience if they would “love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a b**** off the field right now?’”
While the whole thing may have resulted in an orgy of self-congratulation for every anthem-hater on the left and in the media (but I repeat myself), Trump was pretty busy honoring our nation’s real heroes — namely, families who have lost a son or daughter in combat.
According to The Daily Wire, the president officially declared Sept. 24, 2017 as “Gold Star Mother’s and Family’s Day,” honoring families who have experienced the ultimate sacrifice at the same time the NFL was dishonoring the flag.
“As we solemnly observe Gold Star Mother’s and Family’s Day, we honor and extend our deepest gratitude to the families of military service members who gave their last full measure of devotion to our country,” a press release from the White House read.
“Gold Star families have paid the ultimate price for our Nation’s freedom with the life of their loved ones. Our grateful Nation grieves with them in their loss, but also shares their pride in the selfless service of their sons and daughters.
“Our country is built on the sacrifices of men and women who have willingly raised their hand to defend our Nation and its security,” the pronouncement continued.
“As members of our Armed Forces take an oath to protect our freedoms and liberty, they understand the gravity of their commitment to defend our way of life. And when that commitment results in the ultimate sacrifice, we come together as a Nation to walk beside the devoted families left behind and help them shoulder the vast absence they forever bear. Their loved ones did not die in vain. They gave of themselves to protect and defend the freedoms we all enjoy. Despite their grief, these families bravely move forward with dignity and grace.”
Firstly, well-done to the Trump White House. This is something that’s always welcome, no matter what the occasion.
Secondly, while one might question the timing of it as a political move, it illustrates exactly why the left still can’t grasp Donald Trump’s victory. As the media was busy celebrating the disrespect of the American flag — a reaction directly precipitated by their rage at the president — Trump was busy honoring the families of fallen heroes.
Now, let me ask you: do you think America supports the former or the latter? The left thinks it’s the former. And yet, they wonder why Donald J. Trump is currently in residence at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Perhaps most importantly, they can’t possibly see how the two are related.
G’ day…Ciao…
