Ireland: Inspired by poetry and pastry

[Guest post by Corrine Descamps in Ireland] I've returned from a trip of 15 days in Ireland with my family. I found time to sketch the amazing landscapes. My principal medium is watercolour. All my drawings are illustrated with a little text I wrote in addition to an Irish poem or song lyrics.

Dublin

Our apartment was in south old city center near Temple Bar. A perfect place. The view from the terrace was beautiful. The canopy of the roofs, the agapanthus which is trying to reach the size of St. Patrick's Cathedral (sketch above).

Connemara

A magic landscape which makes me think of an Irish poem, "My Land" from Thomas Davis:

She is a rich and rare land;
Oh! She's a fresh and fair land;
She is a dear and rare land -
This native land of mine.

Connemara

The Burren

The limestone hills are delicious to look at. I'd like to taste a pastry version: "The Burren Cake." Imagine a bottom of shortbread crust with a mint cream and finally meringue in a piping bag.

Galway

Lively streets and group of buskers like this one. Anecdotally, the percussionist with the star on his elbow recognized himself on my drawing, via social network. He sent me his CD to thank me.

Galway

So many things to sketch in Ireland that I could stay a year . . . a rich land.
