Last Saturday, I visited sketching to Yonsei University located in Shinchon-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. I've been working in my office near the university for many years. So I'm familiar with the Sinchon Campus and used to sketch the various scenes of the campus buildings from time to time.

Recently, Yonsei University has completed the campus remodeling project including underground parking lot for several years. When I entered the newly renovated campus, I felt an impulse to sketch a jewellike chapel well-preserved with history of the campus.

The Luce Chapel, completed in 1974, is the architectural highlight of Yonsei University Campus and was sponsored by the Luce Foundation. The design for this building, by architect Kim Seok-Jae, is historically significant as a stylistic hybrid of international style and traditional Korean architecture.

Approaching to the attractive church harmonized with it's natural surroundings, the walkway that leads down the hill from the chapel to the Student Union Building is one of the most pleasant path on the Yonsei University Campus.

I sketched the precious church from various angles in a peaceful atmosphere thinking of the pleasure of life in the historic campus.
