Chuck Schumer Uses Fake News To Attack New Tax Plan

Washington Free Beacon by: Brent Scher
During his Wednesday press conference, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) announced his opposition to the newly proposed Republican tax plan and used a false statistic to argue it would raise taxes on working Americans.

"By repealing the personal exemption, Republicans are once again raising taxes on middle class and working Americans," Schumer said. "A family of two, on this framework, with a household income of $45,000 could see their bill increase by $1,000."

The claim put forth by Schumer does not add up. The proposal’s doubled standard deduction for married taxpayers filing jointly, from $12,600 to $24,000, more than makes up for the elimination of the $4,050 personal exemptions that would be eliminated in the proposal. Despite the tax rate increase, from 10 to 12 percent, the family of two would see its taxes decrease by about $200.

A spokesman for Schumer acknowledged that the minority leader misspoke during the press conference—the senator meant to say a family of four. Schumer did not correct himself during the press conference.

Muslims Are Irate After Totally Unexpected Country Bans the Burqa While Driving

BY KIM SMITH

Many countries have banned the burqa, either partially or fully, because of the security threats obscuring the face pose — not to mention the fact that they are a symbol of oppression.

Germany recently passed legislation that banned face veils or masks of any kind while driving, Deutsche Welle reported.

The measure focused on traffic laws which prohibited driving with “significant parts or all of the driver’s face covered,” reported the German news outlet.

While the ban is seen as targeting burqas and niqabs, it also applies to any facial covering, including masks or hoods that might obscure faces. Lawmakers justified the ban, saying it was necessary to ensure that a driver’s identity could be determined.

The government said that violators of the ban could receive a fine of 60 euros, which is the equivalent of about $70.

The Central Council of Muslims in Germany opposed the ban and called it “symbolic politics.”

“Proof of this is the fact that laws are being passed in areas that don’t need to regulated,” Deputy Council Chairman Nurhan Soykan told DW. “We know of no case in which a burqa or niqab wearer caused an accident that can be linked to wearing a full-body veil.”

It’s not irrational for people to want things to stay that way.

The German parliament supported a draft law that banned women working in the civil service and military from wearing full-face veils earlier this year, the U.K. Independent reported.

The ban on burqas while driving would seem to indicate that Germany is coming around to the idea that a few preventive measures might go a long way. German Chancellor Angela Merkel has stated that the burqa was not appropriate in Germany, and it’s hard to disagree with her — on this point, anyway.

CNN’s Top 6 Hypocrisies and Lies in Defense of NFL Crybabies

5503
cnn

If nothing else, the uproar over these spoiled NFL millionaires who work only 16 days a year but still feel the need to spit on the American flag and anthem, has proven once again that our national media is infected with a lethal dose of Groupthink.

Within the MSM, no one has shown the courage or even the ability to think for themselves. It is quite a thing to witness.
Just as fascinating is the media’s glaring, audacious hypocrisy — most especially from CNN. In its never-ending quest to destroy President Trump,  the leftwing cable network’s credibility-killing shamelessness has been on display for quite a long time. But in defense of these crybaby one-percenters, it has been especially shameless.

1.   CNN’s Definition of ‘Divisive’
According to CNN, it is not at all divisive for a bunch of pampered millionaires to politicize a sport, to take a side in the culture wars during a football game, to openly disrespect the American flag and anthem.
No, according to CNN, this issue only gets “divisive” when you criticize this abominable behavior.
You see, in order to keep things from becoming divisive, normal people are just supposed to shut up and take it.
2.   Criticizing NFL Whiners Who Trash America Is … Raaaaaacist
While I believe Trump went too far in calling for NFL players to be fired, I personally cannot think of a more important role for an American president than to shame a bunch of millionaires expressing contempt for a country that has given them everything, including the freedom to disrespect that country.
But of course proven serial liars, like CNN’s Jake Tapper, have intentionally lied by insinuating Trump’s criticism is an act of racism.
Missing from this ongoing CNN smear is the fact that Trump also spent last week criticizing a number of white people, like Hillary Clinton, and even some white people in his own party, like Senators John McCain and Rand Paul.

3.       Trump Given Zero Credit for Criticizing His Own Billionaire Supporters
Does CNN not want politicians who are not bought?
Does CNN not want politicians willing to stand up against their own donors?
Does CNN not want politicians who are not puppets to big donors?
Then why is Trump getting zero credit for blasting away at the nine anti-American football owners who donated more than $10 million to his campaign and inauguration?
4.     Suddenly CNN Claims We Have First Amendment Rights in the Workplace
CNN’s Chris Cillizza, who is both breathtakingly dumb and a proven liar, best summed up the glaring hypocrisies at work here. In defiance of Trump and in defense of millionaires trashing America, Cillizza tweeted
The US is literally premised on the right of people to freely express their beliefs without fear of reprisal[.]
And this:
But that is the athlete’s choice. If they want to speak out, they should be allowed to. That they are athletes is meaningless.
And this:
That we shouldn’t be allowed to express our 1st amendment rights because you happen to play a pro sport? Really?
One question…
Where was this very same CNN’s defense of Americans expressing their constitutional right to “freely express themselves without reprisal” when Christians bakers and florists protested participating in the sacramentalization of sin that is a same-sex marriage?
Well, as we all know, CNN did not defend those Christians; in fact, CNN spent countless hours smearing those Christians as haters and bigots.
Moreover, CNN mercilessly attacked Kim Davis, a Kentucky clerk protesting same-sex marriage by refusing to personally issue gay marriage licenses.
CNN was nowhere to be found in defense of Brenden Eich, the CEO of Mozilla, after he was bullied out of his job over his support of traditional marriage.
Where was the CNN campaign to defend the Google engineer fired just last month for expressing his pro-science opinion about gender?
And where was the CNN campaign to protect these very same NFL players when the league threatened to fine them for their free expression in support of police officers. 9/11 victims, and breast cancer awareness?
CNN so believes in the right to express yourself without fear of reprisal that CNN itself threatened to destroy a man’s life after he ridiculed CNN.
5.     CNN Claims Trump Is Distracted from Important Stuff
As I said above, I can think of nothing more important for a president than to defend our flag and country against a bunch of crybaby one-percenters.
But because this is a winning issue for Trump, and the left hates it when the right engages in the culture wars, CNN anchors are snidely and sarcastically criticizing Trump for his focus on “important things” — as though Trump cannot possibly do more than one thing at a time.
And yet, here was this very same CNN just last year gushing over President Obama’s annual NCAA tournament picks.
Oh, and here is CNN gushing over their Precious Barry’s 2015 picks.
Man alive, you just gotta see this to believe it…
6.     CNN Used to Be Fine With Presidents Who Told The NFL What to Do
When President Obama told the Washington Redskins to change their name, here was CNN’s reaction. No freak out, no questioning of Precious Barry’s focus on priorities…
But when a president criticizes a football team for trashing the flag, CNN goes nuclear.
What does that tell us about CNN?

NFL Legend Herschel Walker Gives Anthem-Kneelers 1 Perfect Piece of Advice

BY CILLIAN ZEAL

At least one NFL legend — former Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings star Herschel Walker — has had enough with the league’s anthem-kneeling protests.
According to TMZ, in a video that’s gone viral, Walker lent his support to President Donald Trump and criticized both the players who have decided to kneel and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for allowing the protests.
“I think it means making a league-wide rule that if you want to protest, protest off the job,” Walker said. “Where was everyone before the season started? I didn’t see anyone protesting in front of the White House, protesting in front of Congress or protesting in front of police officers. Why did we wait until football season to start this again? If you’re behind it, you have to be behind it all the way.
“If you want to protest, protest off the job,” he advised.
While he said that there were problems with racism in America, Walker said that the anthem protests weren’t the way to change anything — particularly not when they were directed at Trump.
“We can’t just point the finger at one person, and most of all you can’t point it at the president,” Walker said.
Meanwhile, he called on NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to put an end to the latest round of anthem-kneeling.
“I think everyone needs to stand, everyone needs to be respectful,” Walker said. “The commissioner now needs to take control of this.”
It’s worth noting that Walker is a personal friend of the president’s. Back in the 1980s, Walker played for the Trump-owned New Jersey Generals in the USFL, a short-lived spring football league that competed with the NFL. He’s also appeared on “The Apprentice.”
However, Walker’s comments are spot on. The only thing these anthem protests are changing is the channel on a lot of TVs, as more and more Americans turn the NFL off. If the NFL players want to protest, there are plenty of avenues to do it that don’t occur during the game and don’t involve the anthem or the flag.
That’s a lesson a lot of people seem to have forgotten.

Donald Trump Rips ‘Fake News’ CNN and San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz for Puerto Rico Criticism

by CHARLIE SPIERING

President Donald Trump accused San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz of playing politics in a tweet Saturday after she delivered an emotional speech accusing the administration of “killing” Puerto Rico’s people.
“If anybody out there is listening to us, we are dying,” she said during an interview with CNN on Friday. “And you are killing us with the inefficiency.”

Trump appeared angry by the mayor’s dramatic accusations, especially after they were used by his critics and some members of the media to accuse him of failing Puerto Rico with recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Maria.
“The Mayor of San Juan, who was very complimentary only a few days ago, has now been told by the Democrats that you must be nasty to Trump,” the president wrote on Twitter.

He criticized the mayor’s “poor leadership” in getting local distributors for the aid that had piled up in the port of San Juan.
“Such poor leadership ability by the Mayor of San Juan, and others in Puerto Rico, who are not able to get their workers to help,” Trump said. “They want everything to be done for them when it should be a community effort. 10,000 Federal workers now on Island doing a fantastic job.”

Kevin McCarthy blames healthcare failure on 'one or two' senators who want to 'hold everything up'

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy lamented Saturday the Senate's inability to pass a bill overhauling Obamacare, and placed the blame for its failure to do so on "one or two" senators who want to "hold everything up."
"Leadership has done all the battle going in there," McCarthy, R-Calif., told MSNBC of Senate leadership. "To me, it seems one or two individuals wants to hold everything up, and that's the frustration I've had with the history of the Senate, where one individual can hold everything up."
The Senate revived its attempts to overhaul the 2010 healthcare law earlier this month with legislation from Sens. Bill Cassidy, R-La., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. But those efforts collapsed earlier this week when it became clear there was not enough support from Republican senators for the bill to pass.
Republican Sens. Rand Paul of Kentucky, John McCain of Arizona, and Susan Collins of Maine all came out against the Graham-Cassidy proposal ahead of an expected vote, and others were skeptical of it.
Host Hugh Hewitt asked McCarthy if he thought Trump should replace former Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price, who resigned Friday, with someone such as former Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., to "bridge the Susan Collins-Rand Paul gap" at the agency.
But the majority leader suggested that the Senate's inability to pass a healthcare bill lies with the senators serving, not with the Department of Health and Human Services.
"Maybe changing someone in the Senate gets it through the Senate," he said. "It just seems to become a difficulty over in the Senate not just with healthcare, with so many other items as well."
"I think they, I would bring the Senate together and not just about healthcare, but start looking at what America needs, and I'd bring maybe an expert in and know how to build a team," he said of a new leader at the agency.

Sex Offenders Win Horrifying Court Victory

Luis Miguel

One of the perpetual debates between the Right and Left in America is the treatment of criminals. Conservatives generally seek harsher punishment for offenders, while liberals, who tend to view criminals as victims of social circumstances, call for clemency and reformative sentences.

This difference in worldview is now highly relevant in Colorado politics. According to the Washington Times, the Colorado attorney general, Cynthia Coffman, is appealing a federal judge’s ruling that the state’s lifetime sex offender registry is unconstitutional.

Despite the fact that sex offender registries are in place in every state and the District of Columbia, Richard Matsch, US district judge, invalidated Colorado’s sex offender registry, saying it violated the Constitution’s Eighth Amendment. This amendment protects Americans from excessive fines and cruel and unusual punishment.

For Matsch, the sex offender registry fails to comply with the Eighth Amendment because the “public shaming” it provokes can be considered “cruel and unusual punishment.” Moreover, Matsch argues sex offenders can lose employment opportunities because of their presence on the registry–a consequence he says constitutes “excessive fines.”

Matsch wrote: “The record, in this case, reflects that maintaining the sex offender registry, requiring Internet publication of information on the registry, and permitting republication of the information by private websites have effects that are analogous to the historical punishment of shaming.”

Coffman has filed a notice of appeal against Matsch’s ruling. If accepted, it will be taken up by the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. The Colorado attorney general says her state’s sex offender registry is essential to protecting the general public from future victimization by sex offenders.

“Survivors of sexual assault are forever impacted by the trauma they have experienced, and we must never lose sight of the responsibility we have to prevent the victimization of more innocent people,” Coffman declared.

Coffman’s statement suggests sex offenders are likely to act out again even after they have fulfilled their sentences. Statistics indicate that there are a significant number of repeat offenders.

According to Health Research Funding, offenders with a previous sex offense conviction have a 37 percent re-offense rate, and rapists repeat their offense up to 35 percent. Moreover, adolescent offenders who don’t receive treatment commit an estimated 380 sex crimes over their lifetime. These startling figures seemingly validate Colorado’s Lifetime Supervision of Sex Offenders Act.

Trump Revealed A Secret About The Anthem Protests That The NFL Did Not Want To Get Out

There is a horrible secret about the NFL anthem protests.

Donald Trump revealed it to the public and it will change everything.

And the NFL is in a panic that it may spread like wildfire.

Millions of Americans are wondering why NFL owners are tolerating these anti-American protests.

Players who kneel during the star spangled banner are spitting on the memory of America’s fallen heroes as well as the flag they fought for.
Ratings are down and every public survey lists the protests as the number one reason fans are tuning out.

Lower ratings is costing the league’s broadcast partners hundreds of millions of dollars as they are forced to deliver “make good” ads to their sponsors.

So why are the owners going along with actions that are directly hurting their business?

Trump said it’s because the owners fear their players.

Politico reports:
“NFL TEAM OWNERS ARE HESITANT TO STOP THEIR PLAYERS FROM KNEELING IN PROTEST DURING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM BECAUSE “THEY’RE AFRAID OF THEIR PLAYERS,” PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP SAID WEDNESDAY, INSISTING THAT THEY SHOULD BAN THE PRACTICE FOR THE ENTIRE LEAGUE.
“I HAVE SO MANY FRIENDS THAT ARE OWNERS. AND THEY’RE IN A BOX. I MEAN, I’VE SPOKEN TO A COUPLE OF THEM. THEY SAY, ‘WE ARE IN A SITUATION WHERE WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING,’” TRUMP SAID IN AN INTERVIEW WITH FOX NEWS’ “FOX & FRIENDS” THAT WAS TAPED WEDNESDAY AND AIRED THURSDAY MORNING. “I THINK THEY’RE AFRAID OF THEIR PLAYERS, YOU WANT TO KNOW THE TRUTH, AND I THINK IT’S DISGRACEFUL. AND THEY’VE GOT TO BE TOUGH AND THEY’VE GOT TO BE SMART.”
The owners were afraid if they demanded that their players stand for the anthem – or if it even looked like they were siding with Trump – that they would face a player strike.

If players refused to take the field or show up to the games it would be forfeited and fans and advertisers would demand refunds.
The owners were betting that the consequences of fan outrage over anti-American protests would be less than the backlash they would face if the players skipped showing up for work.

But is that true?

Ratings are down.

Social media was filled with videos of fans burning their tickets and team gear.

And the ticket reseller StubHub was offering a ten percent discount to every NFL game this weekend.

One advertiser – a Cleveland businessman who purchased spots for three different entities he owns – pulled all his ads from NFL games for the rest of the season because he slammed the league for tolerating unpatriotic protests.

The NFL owners were faced with a difficult choice.
They could side with their players or their customers.
The owners lined up with anti-American players.
And it could cost them big time.

Trump Ended The NFL Protesters Careers With Just Four Words

The NFL is the left’s latest attempt to weaponize a cultural institution.
Racist and anti-American players are throwing their radical politics in their fans faces and forcing everyone to pick a side.
But Donald Trump fought back and gave the protesters the worst news of their lives when he spoke these four words.
Trump was interviewed by Fox and Friends and the discussion naturally turned toward the protests.
The President was speaking for the vast majority of Americans when he said players should stand for the anthem out of respect.
That infuriated the pampered NFL millionaires who in turn escalated their protests.
In the interview Trump spoke on the protests and stated, “I think it’s disgraceful.”
He also noted that the league’s ratings are down – the NFL has seen an eleven percent dip from one year ago – as proof the players racial and anti-American politics are hurting the game.
Mediaite reports:
“The president gave an interview to Fox & Friends which aired Thursday morning, and of course weekend co-host Pete Hegseth brought up Trump’s opposition to NFL players kneeling during the national anthem to protest police brutality.
“You have certainly started a national conversation this week, Mr. President, on the NFL,” Hegseth cooed. “Your critics say it’s been a distraction, but you say it’s critical, you talk about words like ‘patriotism’ and ‘citizenship.’”
“Why is this such an important issue for you?” asked Fox & Friends’ most obsequious patriot.
Trump said the issue was not a distraction, before rattling through his achievements as president.
“But the NFL cannot disrespect our country, they cannot disrespect our flag or our national anthem.” Trump continued. “And they can’t have people sitting down or kneeling down during our national anthem.” (Both Hegseth and the president could do with reading this quick explanation of why everyone is kneeling.)…
…“When it comes to the respect of our nation, when it comes to the respect of our anthem and our flag — they have no choice. You have to have people stand with respect,” Trump concluded.”
…I have so many friends that are owners,” Trump said. “They’re in a box. I’ve spoken to a couple of them, they said we are in a situation where we have to do something. I think they’re afraid of their players…and I think it’s disgraceful.”
EXCLUSIVE: @PeteHegseth interviewed @POTUS on national anthem protests
6:39 AM - Sep 28, 2017
If ratings continue to drop, the networks that televise the games will lose hundreds of millions of dollars.
That is because they sell ads at a rate based on a certain level of viewership.
If they can’t deliver to the audience, they must give the advertisers makes goods – or free ads that run in place of commercials that are paid for.
The NFL’s business model – which depends on massive TV-rights fees – would then be threatened in the next round of contract negotiations.

San Juan Mayor Busted In Nasty Anti-Trump Lie

Adam Selene

On Wednesday, San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz Soto praised Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) first responders for their decisive action in responding to the disaster in Puerto Rico left by Hurricane Maria.
Yet, Mayor Soto also criticized President Trump. “If we don’t get food and water into people’s hands, what we are going to see is something close to a genocide,” Mayor Soto said, “We are dying, and you (Trump) are killing us with inefficiency.”

Mayor Soto said this while standing in front of pallets of aid. As of Sept. 22, ten people had died in Puerto Rico as a result of the storm.

“I will do what I never thought I was going to do,” the Mayor said at the same press conference, “I am begging, begging anyone that can hear us, to save us from dying.”

According to The Atlantic, the power outages on the island are expected to continue for weeks or months.

A compounding factor in the crisis is that communication infrastructure has been damaged by the storm, limiting authorities’ knowledge of what is going on.

Roughly 85 percent of all of the island’s above-ground communication infrastructure has been destroyed. FEMA has said that another compounding issue is the geography of the island itself.
The mayor explained to ABC that she wanted President Trump to allow FEMA to “do more,” but neglected to mention what she needed the federal agency to do. She only mentioned that “red tape” needed to be cut. Mayor Soto complained that FEMA was looking for formal requests from municipalities. She argued they should watch the news.
“You can’t be saying, well, we haven’t had any formal requests from the municipalities. Really? Watch the news,” Mayor Soto said.

President Donald Trump has tweeted about the situation, and argues that his earlier tweets were characterized as being negative towards the first responders working in Puerto Rico.

“Despite the Fake News Media in conjunction with the Dems, an amazing job is being done in Puerto Rico. Great people!”

He blames the Mayor’s change of tune on pressure from news media and Democrats. “The Mayor of San Juan, who was very complimentary only a few days ago, has now been told by the Democrats that you must be nasty to Trump,” Trump tweeted.

Trump further argued that the “poor leadership” in Puerto Rico wants “everything to be done for them when it should be a community effort. 10,000 Federal workers now on Island doing a fantastic job.”

The President also revealed over Twitter that he and First Lady Melania Trump will visit Puerto Rico on Tuesday. He hopes to also have time to stop at the US Virgin Islands.

One thing is certain — the recent string of hurricanes and other natural disasters has certainly left the Trump administration with a lot to deal with. Responding to disasters is never easy, especially given the sheer destruction wrought by the last few hurricanes in particular. While our president does everything he can to ameliorate the situation, the Left are using these tragedies to paint the president in a negative light — using the pain of innocent victims to push their political agenda.
