~All Gave Some~Some Gave All~God Bless America

Hello, we’re back and after a few hours of trying I remembered how to get onto our site so here we go.

Donald Trump...Better than expected or advertised…

If we were looking for a person who would look establishment fascists in the eye and tell them to jump in the lake (don’t tell that to the EPA - water pollution you know.)

I’ve worked for five candidates I can look back von with pride in my lifetime. Age mandates I probably won’t be very helpful fairly soon so Mister President may be my last and best effort.

My earliest venture in politics was my dad when he ran for state senate in Massachusetts in the late 40’s and early 50’s. A Republican running for office in heavily Democrat Fall River, Massachusetts, Dad didn’t stand the chance of a snowball in hell. In watching him make a serious effort and giving it his all I learned some important lessons. Honesty and dedication to principles should come first in life and politics.

There has been a tradition of service and honesty in my family starting with my grandfather, Arthur Lauzier (a name we gave to our only son). He established a tradition which calls for service to your fellow man and dedication to family. He is the template I measure politicians by. Grampa was an early supporter of Joe Martin who during his storied career who rrose to be Speaker of the House.

I had the pleasure of meeting The Speaker a few times in my youth as well as having the distinct pleasure and honor of riding in an open car in a parade in Fall River with Ike (and my dad).

I wandered away from politics for a few years opting to play as much baseball as I could and that was a lot. Four generations of Lauzier’s played many glorious hours at Ruggles Park and North Park in Fall River (where I still feel a glow when I drive past the old haunts). Four generations played at North Park beginning with “Old” Arthur right through “Young” Arthur. Altogether a Lauzier player there in parts of three centuries

Boy have I wandered away from the original intended theme of this essay. Sorry if I bored you to distraction. Back to business.

I ventured into the political world totally on my own in 1964. Goldwater was the man. Books like None Dare Rall It Treason by John Stormer, A Choice Not an Echo by Phyllis Schlafly and my real eye opener, Conscience of a Conservative by Barry Goldwater. Those and many other books became the foundation for me of the principles of less government is best.

The crushing defeat of the man from Arizona served as a wakeup call for many of us. The energy built up from the GOP Convention held at the appropriately named “Cow Palace” in San Francisco was the start of it all. Twenty Seven Million voters weren’t wrong.

Bespectacled Barry started a fire that summer. A fire which still kindles.  Goldwater 1964 spawned the political birth of a man called Dutch by his friends.

Ronald Reagan became the torchbearer when in 1966 with friends like Lyn Nofziger leading the way.  he became governor of the Golden State . I spent many happy times exchanging cossesponcence and phone conversations with Lyn. He was the first of many good men Ronald Reagan chose to light his way to the presidency in 1980.

President Reagan changed the face of governing during his eight year tenure. Massive tax cuts and a very conservative tenure dominated politics during the period which led to the election of George Bush 41. Sadly, GB didn’t measure up to his predecessor. He was not able to advance the Reagan Revolution. After failing to close the deal with Saddam Hussein the GHWB tenure will be remembered for his broken tax promises. Do you remember the phrase “there will be no new taxes”. Oops, the Democrats took him to the cleaners. New taxes.

A Balanced Budget did occur under President Zipper and a Newt Gingrich dominated congress followed. Meanwhile Hillary took her first foray into botching up America’s health care. She did so with pizzaz, something which would mark her attempts at being a politician.

Willy Clinton’s time as president will always be remembered for his military and foreign police limp wrist. He will never be mistaken for another Teddy Roosevelt. Oh yes, there was the embarrassment of his Bimbo Eruptions.

Interestingly, Hillary condemned her big time donor Harvey Weinstein for taking advantage of women. She sounded like Elmer Gantry condemning the perfidious behavior of sinners. Now, that takes chutzpah. Plenty of it.

That brings up to the second coming of a Texas Bush.

George the second started with a clean slate and kodos aplenty for his initial handling of 911. He said all the right things and made some bold moves on Al Qaeda. We even had the enemy on the run until the Bush attention was diverted away from the objective of crushing the enemy in Afghanistan.

Our gaze switches to Iraq under the guise of eliminating Saddam Hussein. He was a bad guy, a very bad guy. However he was not a threat to us. Certainly not enough to stop the great pressure we were imposing on
Saddam.

We lost the initiative in Afghanistan and never closed the deal in Iraq. Only recently are we regaining our mojo in that area of the world.
President Trump is returning some respect from our friends and fear by our enemies. The stock market is again a viable. Abortion is looked at with scorn and owning a gun is no longer viewed as evil.

Trump has accomplished more in the short time he is to occupant of the Oval Office.

If we continue with our present trajectory we’re in for a 7+ years of growth.

God Bless the USA.

G’ day…Ciao…
Helen and Moe Lauzier
