One month in Florence in a pocket sketchbook (1)
[by Javier de Blas in Florence, Italy] Nov/3rd-4th. In this occasion I am not travelling alone, so I thing I better bring a pocket sketchbook (14x9cm) so I may combine the attention to my companions and a less commited dedication to my drawings.We arrived last night. The flat is small but cozy. We are three people here. My wife Charo, our best friend, Encarna, who is spending tw months here, and myself.
My first impression is with Chiesa do Sagrado Cuore. With its stark, uncoated facade like many churches in Italy.
The river Mugnone is an afluent of Arno. It's just in the opposite acer. I like to live near by a river.
We go for a walk untill Piazza Ognisanti. On the way, in via Porcellana there is one of the many wrough iron knockers there are in citty.
Chiesa de Ognisanty is closed but there is a beautiful polichrome ceramic relief from Della Robia. Florence is full of Della Robia ceramics.
In Via Lupi there is a house with an interesting window space in its dividing wall. I record it in one of these pages, many days later.
