After Work in Vancouver
The sun was facing me so I sat on the steps in front of an office, where the canopy would cover a part of me. Every couple of minutes, people would leave the office, having a quick look at my drawing. Strangely, nobody stopped for a conversation, I guess everyone was rushing to go home after a long day of work :/
What I find most interesting about these buildings is how exposed the different layers of renovations are. You can see the thick coat of paint on top of the old bricks, the new black-framed windows and the curtain wall penthouses.
The raised walkway in front of the buildings used to be loading docks. Trucks would back up to them and load the goods from there. It is nice to see how Yaletown has incorporated that feature to create a separated pedestrian walkway filled with restaurants and bar.
