Headingley Stadium - destruction to construction

I intended to produce only a few sketches of the demolition when it started in August, but as work started on the unique twin sided North Stand, one side which faces the rugby pitch, the other the cricket ground, I decided that I had to draw all of the stadium redevelopment from destruction to construction.
The weather at this time of year is making things quite interesting. I’ve had my sketchbook blown right out of my hands with a sudden gale force gust of wind and had to chase after it. Numb fingers and hands shaking from the cold can also make sketching problematic. I’m certainly looking forward to spring and some warmer weather.
The construction workers have asked what I’m doing and passed many a comment. All supportive. Though I have had at least one ask 'why not take a photograph?'.
Construction of the new South Stand is well under way, though construction of the North Stand is still to start. With the stadium due to be completed Spring 2019 in time for the Cricket World Cup it looks like I’ll have many months of sketching ahead and quite a few more sketchbooks to buy.
