Bombshell report: Trump admin is preparing to arrest leaders of ‘sanctuary cities’

Bombshell report: Trump admin is preparing to arrest leaders of ‘sanctuary cities’NASA HQ PHOTO / CCL
The Trump administration isn’t just going after sanctuary cities’ wallets — it’s considering criminal charges against their leaders.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen announced that her agency has asked DOJ lawyers to investigate the possibility of filing criminal charges against those cities that refuse to cooperate with efforts to deport illegal immigrants.

ICE agents at risk

Nielsen confirmed her agency’s enhanced plans to crack down on sanctuary jurisdictions during her testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee Tuesday.
“The Department of Justice is reviewing what avenues may be available,” she told the committee members.
Her confirmation came after California’s new sanctuary law went into effect Jan. 1, severely restricting cooperation the state or any of its localities could offer.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement [ICE] Director Tom Homan says those policies put his officers and local communities at more risk because they have to arrest illegal immigrants out in the community.
“When we knock on doors, as any law enforcement officer will tell you, it’s risky, it’s dangerous. Compare that to arresting someone in the jail, when you know they don’t have weapons in the jail,” Homan told the Times in an earlier interview.
“It’s a matter of time before one of my officers is seriously hurt or doesn’t go home because someone made a political decision on the backs of my officers,” he said.

ICE provides the idea

Homan first advanced the notion to charge sanctuary city leaders with criminal charges six months ago — using federal anti-smuggling laws. He said at the time that their refusal to cooperate with ICE agents puts everyone at risk. The Times reported:
The refusals range from declining to hold migrants beyond their regular release time to refusing all communication — even notifying ICE when a criminal deportable alien is about to be released into the community.

For Mr. Homan, who came up through the ranks of the Border Patrol and then ICE as a sworn law enforcement officer, that sort of resistance is enraging.

Homan observed that Title 8 U.S.Code Section 1324 outlaws any attempt to “conceal, harbor or shield” illegal immigrants — and he believes that may provide the legal basis to hold city fathers criminally liable.
“I think these sanctuary cities need to make sure they’re on the right side of the law. They need to look at this. Because I am,” he said.
The Times asked Homan if he’ll recommend prosecutions.
“We’re looking at what options we have,” he replied at the time.
And six months later he apparently caught Nielsen’s attention.

Byron York: House committee takes step toward making Trump dossier findings public
by Byron York

There will be no copies of the report handed out to House members. Instead, a copy will be made available for them to read in a secure room in the Capitol. (Andrew Harrer/Bloomberg)There will be no copies of the report handed out to House members. Instead, a copy will be made available for them to read in a secure room in the Capitol. (Andrew Harrer/Bloomberg)
One of the most vexing problems of the Trump dossier probe has been that much of the evidence involved is classified and thus hidden from public view. House and Senate investigators are tightly constrained from revealing key aspects of the dossier affair. There is, for example, the question of whether the FBI and Justice Department used the unverified allegations in the dossier as evidence to win a secret court warrant to spy on Americans. Members and staff in both House and Senate know the answer. But it is classified, and they can't talk.
Now, the House Intelligence Committee has taken a first step toward what might become public disclosure of key facts in the dossier investigation. It is a halfway step, and will not immediately reveal anything to the public, but it is a beginning.
At the committee's meeting Thursday morning, Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., offered a motion to allow all House members to review a brief report prepared by the Republican majority summarizing the panel's investigation into what GOP members call "FISA abuse." (That is a reference to the secret court set up by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.) The motion passed the committee on a party-line vote.

The report answers the question of whether the FBI and Justice used the dossier for one or more surveillance warrants, plus other issues. But the answer, of course, is classified. (Just for the record, I have not seen the report and don't know its contents.)
There will be no copies of the report handed out to House members. Instead, a copy will be made available for them to read in a secure room in the Capitol. They won't be able to take the report out of the room. But they will know the answers to the questions.
Which raises another question: When will the public know? Obviously, the more House members know about the dossier investigation, the more likely its classified results are to leak. That might happen at any time.
But Republicans can pursue another strategy, as well. The House itself can declassify documents under certain conditions. If enough members support declassifying the House Intel report, then the House as a body could move to declassify the information in it. And then the public would know.
It's unclear whether that will happen. Much depends on lawmakers' reaction to the report. But after months of delays and frustration, things appear to be moving quickly on the dossier front. They'll likely move faster in coming days, after more lawmakers have taken a look at the new report.

Trump Says He Is Considering a Big Fine Over Chinese Intellectual Property Theft
by JOHN CARNEY

President Donald Trump said Wednesday he is considering a “fine” against China as part of his administration’s probe into China’s alleged theft of intellectual property.

The comments, made in an interview with Reuters, appear to signal an increased willingness to take retaliatory trade action against China.
The U.S. launched a formal investigation this summer into allegations that China facilitates the theft of U.S. technology and intellectual property, in some cases forcing U.S. companies into delivering technology into Chinese hands as a cost of doing business. Under U.S. trade law, the administration can impose retaliatory tariffs and other trade sanctions against China if it concludes China is engaged in wrongdoing. Earlier reports from the U.S. government found China to be the worst infringer of intellectual property rights in the world.
Gary Cohn, the president’s chief economic adviser, told Reuters that the U.S. Trade Representative, who is directing the investigation, would be making a report and recommendations to the White House soon.
“We have a very big intellectual property fine going, which is going to come out soon,” Trump said to Reuters.
Trump downplayed the risk of a full-scale trade war with China.
“I don’t think so, I hope not. But if there is, there is,” he said.

Study: Muslim Migrants Have Medieval Attitudes Towards Jews, Gays, Women, and ‘Infidels’

An academic survey of asylum seekers in Graz, Austria, has found increasing religiosity and deeply worrying attitudes towards Jews, gay people, women, and ‘infidels’.

The study was carried out by Ednan Aslan, Professor of Islamic Religious Education at the University of Vienna, on behalf of local authorities responsible for integration, the Kurier reports.
“We wanted to know, who lives with us?” explained Kurt Hohensinner, a city councillor for the Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP), which currently governs alongside the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ).
Professor Aslan interviewed a sample of 288 of the approximately 4,000 predominantly Afghan asylum seekers in state care in Graz, and discovered that some 54.5 percent believe Jewish people do not care about anyone but themselves, with 44.2 percent saying that Judaism is actively harmful to the world.
“For certain refugees anti-Semitism is a matter of course, which has given the refugee movement a new dimension,” Professor Aslan observed.
Study: Islamic Kindergartens Lead to ‘Parallel Societies’ and Extremism in Austria http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/04/16/study-islamic-kindergartens-lead-to-parallel-societies-and-extremism-in-austria/ …
More than half – 51.7 percent – of migrants said they regarded homosexuality as immoral, with 59 per cent voicing opposition to same-sex marriage.
Two-thirds of those surveyed were young men under 30, and Professor Aslan found attitudes which would be considered decidedly misogynistic by Western standards: 44.2 per cent said they would support the use of violence against wives who were disloyal to their husbands.
However, the Muslim women Professor Aslan surveyed appeared no less prone to extremism than their male counterparts, with 62 per cent saying they attached great importance to wearing the Islamic headscarf in public, and 44.3 per cent saying they would refuse to shake hands with a man.
Perhaps most striking was a finding that almost half of the migrants surveyed — 49.8 per cent — said Islam played a bigger role in their lives in Austria than it had in their native countries.
“Mosques have a certain influence on these people,” observed Professor Aslan, with 70 per cent saying they attended prayers every Friday, and 55 per cent saying they believed unbelievers would burn in Hell.
Breitbart London has previously reported concerns that Graz’s mosques have already turned the city into a “stronghold” of radical Islam, with experts saying that 11 out of 20 are under constant surveillance for extremist links.

Graz Killer Admits Lying About Being Christian http://trib.al/WHh9P2z

It is possible that hardline attitudes may be even more prevalent than Professor Aslan’s study suggests, too, with European Union Counter-Terrorism Coordinator Gilles de Kerchove noting that “most fanatics disguise their convictions [through] increasing use of taqiyya” after the Barcelona terror attacks.
Taqiyya is a form religiously-sanctioned deception which allows Muslims to lie about their beliefs in the service of a greater cause or to avoid “persecution”, without the threat of punishment in the afterlife.
Indeed, a Bosnian migrant who ran down and killed four people in Graz in 2015, including a small child, was found to have lied about being a Christian, when he was really a devout Muslim who attended mosque six times a week.

Fiat Chrysler CEO: Moving Ram Production to Mexico Was a Mistake
by JOHN CARNEY
Moving production of the Ram pickup truck to Mexico was a mistake, Fiat Chrysler’s chief executive officer, Sergio Marchionne, said Tuesday.
In answer to a question from CNBC, Marchionne said:
The heavy-duty truck, at least in Chrysler’s case, was moved to Mexico in 2008. Ninety percent plus of what gets produced out of Mexico gets sold in the United States. I think this notion of making a car which has got nearly 100 percent utilization in the United States is a bit bizarre. I think it should have never been moved.
Last week, Fiat Chrysler announced that it was moving production of the Ram to Michigan, which it says will create thousands of jobs.
“Repatriation of the heavy-duty Ram was owed. We had to correct the mistake of 2008,” Marchionne said.
The Trump administration’s pro-business stance and the recently enacted tax cuts played an important role in the car company’s decision, stated Marchionne.
“We are working in an environment which is a lot more beneficial, that’s much more pro-business than it’s been in a long time. Tax reform is going to compensate some of the cost differential in building the car here, as opposed to building it in Mexico,” Marchionne said.

#WhyWeMarch: March for Life Celebrates ‘Love Saves Lives’

by DR. SUSAN BERRY

March for Life

The president of the March for Life organization says pro-life activists know choosing life is not always easy for a woman facing an unintended pregnancy.

“The philosophical underpinnings of our theme this year – ‘Love Saves Lives’ – is that love requires sacrifice,” Jeanne Mancini told Breitbart News during an interview. “But, sacrifice bears fruit. It isn’t always easy to choose life, especially when someone is facing an unexpected pregnancy, but choosing life is the empowering and loving option. We are given what we need for the moment to do that.”
"When people said we shouldn’t have you, we loved you louder. When people say you’re a mistake, we LOVE you louder. When you will wonder if they’re right, we will love you the loudest." http://bit.ly/2DcNDJa
Friday’s 45th annual March for Life will be held – as it is each year – on the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s ruling in the case of Roe v. Wade, when the high court created a right to abortion though none existed in the Constitution.
“One of the highlights of the March for Life for me is standing up on the platform and looking out at the sea of almost endless faces of young people who are so enthusiastic and so excited,” Mancini says. “It just buoys my spirits so much and gives me hope. They are the pro-life generation and they know this is the human rights issue, the social justice issue of today. We’re passing the work onto them and they’re ready.”

Mancini explains that the theme of “Love Saves Lives” also highlights that the basic foundation of the pro-life movement is the pregnancy care and maternity home movements.
“They have been serving women from even before Roe v. Wade – longer than 50 years – providing shelter to women facing unexpected pregnancies, and they’re primarily volunteer-staffed,” she says. “They provide free resources to women, whether it’s parenting classes, diapers, formula, etc., and they are the backbone of the pro-life movement.”

The March draws over 100,000 Americans from across the country to the nation’s capital. This year, President Donald Trump will become the first sitting president of the United States to address the March live via satellite from the White House.

Mancini reflects on the first year of the Trump presidency and her assessment of his impact on the pro-life movement:
There was some excitement about Trump this time last year, but also some anxiety about whether he would be true to what he promised on the campaign trail. And, he has been 100 percent true, and it’s been exciting to see the pro-life leanings of this administration, whether it’s at the top levels of personnel policy – putting intellectual, experienced, scholarly, pro-life Americans at the highest level of government, including Vice President Pence, of course, or the actual policies that have been enacted.
From October, we saw these rules released at HHS and Labor related to groups that would like to opt out of the abortion-inducing drug mandate. Also, the work on the judiciary with the nomination of now-Supreme Court Justice Gorsuch and also the dozens of nominations at the appellate and district court level. Sadly, many of them are waiting for confirmation, but, at the same time, the Trump administration has made really excellent nominations.

Mancini says her primary disappointment has been the U.S. Senate’s failure to follow through with important pro-life legislation, even though the chamber is led by Republicans – supposedly the “pro-life” party:
I’m frustrated by the Senate. The president made four promises to the pro-life movement on the campaign trail, and defunding Planned Parenthood was one of the four. He has been able to make good on one – the nomination of Neil Gorsuch. He could make good on the three others if the Senate were to stop putting up barriers in the way. The Pain-Capable bill is a no-brainer, and we’re hoping the Senate will pass that, though it’s more of an optimistic hope at this stage, and yet eight out of ten Americans would get rid of late-term abortion. Most Americans – even if they say they are pro-choice – think that abortion should be limited to, at most, the first three months of pregnancy.
A newly released Marist poll finds that 76 percent of Americans favor restricting abortion to – at most – the first three months of pregnancy.
“Also, the codification of the Hyde Amendment in the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act should be able to pass the Senate,” Mancini adds. “The president has promised he would sign both of those measures into law.”

Mancini admits eliminating Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding is “more complicated”:
It should easily be worked into the health care and, so, I think the White House needs to be reminded of that promise – and there is frustration – but, at the same time, I don’t think the responsibility for this at this stage lies with them. Congress needs to pass a good healthcare reform and it needs to include life-affirming structures, like redistributing monies that have gone to our nation’s largest abortion provider to life-affirming centers that provide many more health services for women and men, in addition to having much better regulatory oversight.
House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, however, has announced the chamber will vote this week on the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Act.
“This bill states simply that if a baby is born after a failed abortion attempt, he or she should be given the same medical care as a baby born any other way,” McCarthy said in a statement. “In line with our longstanding commitment to empower women, mothers will never be held criminally accountable. However, doctors who fail to provide medical care to newborns will be held criminally accountable. There is absolutely no ambiguity here. This is about protecting babies who are born and alive, and nobody should be against that.”
