By the time this message reaches you Helen and I will be on our way cross country. We've always wanted to take an extended trip across the USA.
We have finally set up this trip by making certain we have no obligations here for a month. We are as giddy as a couple of kids.
We will attempt to post from time to time based on Internet availability along the way.
We will cross the USA and then work our way back home from there.
Oh yes, I have my St. Christopher medal with us as a safety precaution.
As Humphrey Bogart was fond of saying, "Here's looking at you kid".
Right now we are in Glendale, Arizona (using the public library Internet connection.
Driving here from Fall River is always interesting. This time we are assisting a family member to move from Arizona to Tennessee. We plan to stay here for at least a week.
I can’t recall when I’ve been away from Issues of the Day (or any computer). I don’t know whether my nerves can stand any more of that.Along the way my Bride and I discussed what to do about Issues of the Day. It is a labor of love so we will continue as before as soon as possible.
I also plan to do an update on my book which is a review of my early days on talk radio. Two factors are dictating that I should revise and refine the book and keep up with President Trump. Thain t’s not going to be an easy task.The purpose behind the update is to leave for my progeny a snapshot time through the eyes of an old man (and his Bride). We may make additions to the original book and bring us up to date with one of the most exciting individuals ever to sit in the Corner Office. We have had some outstanding people to serve as our president. We’ve even survived some poor choices. But Donald Trump is cut from a different bolt of cloth. I guess we can say he is a super surprise.
The Donald is a difficult man to figure out. He is results oriented. No nonsense. Flawed. You name it, that’s the man we have come to know as The Donald. The single word which best fits him is “enigma”.
I may not have acknowledged this is publically before but I developed an aversion to flying many years ago. While I have been handicapped by not having the fastest form of transportation available to me, driving throughout the USA has provided my darling and me first hand view of this great land, both its people and its geography.
We are incredibly fortunate to be Americans, something I thank God we were born here.
We will cross the USA and then work our way back home from there.
