Things are really getting heated in Syria. Within a couple of weeks we could be taking drastic action there.
1 - The situation cannot continue indefinitely. As an old song suggested… Something’s gotta give.
2 - Trump has given the Russians time to get out of Syria. That time is not open ended...They go or else.
3 - The really bad SOB nations like Iran are watching with great interest.
4 - Strong USA action will send a loud and clear message to friends and foes alike.
5 - Positive results in handling the Syrian problem would go a long way to strengthening the American image that we can be relied upon to “do the right thing”.
6 - Our enemies are watching closely. The NOKOS are on the verge of folding their cards. Positive action by us in Syria could lead to the dominoes falling around the world. Tin pot dictators (including Cuba) would need to develop an exit strategy.
Donald Trump is the right man, in the right place, at this watershed moment in history. You and I need to say a few Hail Marys. Bold action could be either our Bay of Pigs or our generation’s missile crisis.
US Armada Steaming Toward Middle East… Largest US Strike Force in 15 Years
A U.S. air and naval strike force — the largest since the 2003 Iraq War — is headed toward Syria, according to a Times of London report.
Less than a week after a suspected chemical attack on civilians in the rebel-held suburb of Damascus, an armada of 12 United States warships, including aircraft carrier USS Harry S Truman, sailed from the United States in the direction of the Middle East.
“(T)he USS Harry S Truman, a nuclear-powered carrier with 90 aircraft and five escort ships, which set sail from Norfolk, Virginia, on Wednesday, could be included in any action by the end of next week,” the Times reported.

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump warned Russia that missiles will be headed for Syria in retaliation against the suspected chemical attack.
“Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and ‘smart!’” Trump tweeted. “You shouldn’t be partners with a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!”
Trump added to his earlier warning on Thursday, noting that he did not specify when an attack would take place.
“Never said when an attack on Syria would take place,” the president tweeted. “Could be very soon or not so soon at all!”
Later on Thursday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said that the president had met with his national security advisers but had not made a final decision.
“No final decision has been made,” Sanders said. “We are continuing to assess intelligence and are engaged in conversations with our partners and allies.”
However, as noted by the Times, the mobilization of this new fleet of warships will give Trump “the option for a significant military campaign against Assad.”
Russia has indicated that it will shoot back at missiles from the U.S. or its allies.
“Russia will execute the statement of its president related to any U.S. aggression against Syria, knocking down American missiles and striking at the sources of fire,” Alexander Zasypkin, Russia’s ambassador to Lebanon, told the Lebanese television channel Al Manar.
Trump has said that he wants to pull troops out of Syria, but the chemical attack has left him with few options.
“It’s too bad the world puts us in a situation like that,” the president said.
“We’ve done a great job with ISIS, absolutely decimated ISIS, now we have to make further decisions. They’ll be made soon.”
Trump pardons former Cheney aide 'Scooter' Libby

President Trump on Friday issued a full pardon to I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, a former top aide to Vice President Dick Cheney.
White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement that Trump has issued the pardon.
Libby is Cheney's former chief of staff. He was convicted of lying to investigators and obstruction of justice following the 2003 leak of the identity of CIA operative Valerie Plame.
President George W. Bush later commuted Libby's 30-month prison sentence, but didn't issue a pardon despite intense pressure from Cheney. No one was ever charged with the leak.
Trump said in a statement released by the White House that he does not know Libby, but "for years I have heard that he has been treated unfairly. Hopefully, this full pardon will help rectify a very sad portion of his life."
Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder and CEO of social networking giant Facebook, knew he was going to get an earful on Capitol Hill this week during two days of testimony about Facebook’s privacy practices, but one exchange with Louisiana Republican Sen. John Kennedy might have given him one thing he didn’t expect:
Facebook is embroiled in scandal, and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has become the face of a tech giant struggling to explain itself.
The billionaire was forced to do exactly that during two days of testimony in front of Congress, and one of the main topics surprised nobody: data security.
Not long ago, it was revealed that information broker Cambridge Analytica had “mined” the personal details of some 87 million people, and some of this information was used in the 2016 presidential campaign.
The media has tried to tie the scandal to Donald Trump. Recent reporting has pointed out, correctly, that Trump’s campaign team was aided by Cambridge Analytica data in its efforts to target voters.
However, what has been suspiciously missing in the uproar is the fact that Barack Obama’s campaign did almost the exact same thing in 2012 … and even openly bragged about its “accomplishment.”
That inconvenient reality was brought up to Zuckerberg by Republican Senator Thom Tillis — and one look at the tech billionaire’s face shows just how uncomfortable he was hearing about it.
“I think that timeline needs to be updated,” said the North Carolina senator, who has a business and technology background.
“I’ve read a series of three articles that were published in the MIT technology review back in 2012,” he continued. “And it talks about how proud the Obama campaign was of exploiting data on Facebook.”
The senator used the Obama team’s own words to illustrate that the problem had existed long before 2016.
“I think you should probably be equally mad when a former campaign director of the Obama campaign proudly tweeted: ‘Facebook was surprised. We were able to suck out the whole social graph, but they didn’t stop us once they realized that was what we were doing,'” he said.
Dick Morris: Here’s When Rosenstein Must Resign
By Dick Morris
Leave it to a brilliant lawyer to make a brilliant point.
Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz pointed out recently that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein cannot continue to serve in his government job if special counsel Robert Mueller accuses President Donald Trump of obstruction of justice in connection with last year’s firing of James Comey as FBI director.
Dershowitz noted that Rosenstein was deeply involved in the firing and drafted a memo for the president outlining the grounds for the dismissal.
He said Rosenstein cannot serve as both a witness and the supervisor of the prosecution.
Great point!
As Mueller rummages around the office of Trump’s attorney looking for a crime with which to charge the president, it is increasingly likely that a substantive crime — such as coordination with Russian intelligence to fix the election — is unlikely to be provable.
That probably means that a procedural crime relating to the investigation itself is the most likely charge Mueller will be able to bring against the president.
Obstruction of justice would likely be the accusation.
But if Rosenstein is conflicted out from continuing his government service (I would say “public service,” but he hasn’t done much of that), he must be replaced.
His replacement, of course, would then be in charge of the prosecution of the president, a power Rosenstein now has by virtue of Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ recusal from the investigation.
So, Mueller would gain a witness but acquire a new boss.

Mueller cannot bring obstruction charges without questioning Rosenstein as a witness, precluding the deputy attorney general from remaining in office.
This excellent point goes to show why the president needs to bring Alan Dershowitz onto his legal team.
Dershowitz knows how to combine excellent legal research with skilled courtroom advocacy and articulate public commentary.
Trump, now devoid of skilled counsel, needs to bring in Dershowitz. Right now.

Simply Maddening --- Court Rules Illegal Aliens Can Sue over “Discriminatory Employment Policy” Requiring Green Cards
For the second time in a few years, a federal court has ruled that illegal immigrants can sue American employers that refuse to hire them because they require workers to be U.S. citizens or legal residents (green card holders). The latest blow to the rule of law was delivered by an Obama-appointed federal judge in south Florida, who handed a powerful open-borders group a huge victory in a case accusing a major U.S. company of discriminating against an illegal immigrant.
Though years apart, both lawsuits were filed by the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), a leftist group that specializes in discrimination lawsuits on behalf of illegal immigrants and has Chicago ties to Obama. MALDEF pushes for free college tuition for illegal immigrants and lowering educational standards to accommodate new migrants. Its leadership refers to the U.S. government’s immigration enforcement effort as racist and xenophobic and says it’s racist to make English the country’s official national language and inhumane to protect the southern border with a fence. Both MALDEF victories involve plaintiffs who benefit from a special Obama amnesty known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) that shields nearly 800,000 illegal aliens under the age of 31 from deportation.
In the recent Florida case a Venezuelan immigrant, David Rodriguez, living in Miami is suing consumer goods corporation Procter & Gamble for refusing to give him a paid internship because he is not a legal resident or citizen of the United States. MALDEF filed the lawsuit last year in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Procter & Gamble requires citizenship and immigration status information on its applications and warns that candidates “must be a U.S. citizen or national, refugee, asylee or lawful permanent resident.” Rodriquez is neither and he quickly played the discrimination card after getting nixed as a candidate. In a statement MALDEFF’s president reminds that “work-authorized DACA holders are valuable contributors to our economy” and “should not have to face arbitrary and biased exclusions from employment, especially by large and sophisticated corporations like Procter & Gamble.”
Judge Kathleen M. Williams, a former public defender appointed to the federal bench by Obama in 2011, agrees, citing MALDEF’s other lawsuit in her ruling. In denying Procter & Gamble’s motion to dismiss Rodriguez’s lawsuit, Judge Williams claims the Venezuelan immigrant’s claims are “strikingly similar” to those in MALDEF’s 2014 suit against insurance company Northwestern Mutual in New York. In that complaint, a Mexican illegal alien protected by DACA alleged that Northwestern Mutual’s policy requiring him to have a green card because he’s not a U.S. citizen discriminated against him. Requiring the Mexican national, Ruben Juarez, to provide proof of legal residency imposed an additional burden that constitutes alienage discrimination, according to the complaint filed on his behalf by MALDEF. The federal judge hearing that case in New York agreed and, in a federal courtroom more than 1,000 miles south, Williams used the decision to justify hers.
“In Juarez, the plaintiff was a DACA recipient who was denied employment based on Northwestern Mutual’s policy to only hire U.S. citizens and green card holders,” Judge Williams writes in her ruling. “There, on strikingly similar facts, the court found that Northwestern Mutual’s policy impermissibly discriminated against a subclass of Lawfully present aliens.” The ruling continues to say that Procter & Gamble’s policy could be construed to discriminate against a subset of legal aliens, which are protected. It seems to agree with the illegal alien’s assertions that Procter & Gamble has a “facially discriminatory employment policy” for requiring candidates to furnish proof that they’re in the U.S. legally.
Trump Completely Unloads on James Comey After Book Excerpts Leak to Press
BY JOE SAUNDERS
Now, THIS is fire and fury.
As excerpts from former FBI Director James Comey’s new book began leaking into the media this week, President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Friday morning to blast the man he fired from the nation’s top law enforcement agency.
And he left absolutely no doubt about his opinion of Comey — or his job performance.
“James Comey is a proven LEAKER & LIAR,” Trump wrote. “Virtually everyone in Washington thought he should be fired for the terrible job he did — until he was, in fact, fired.”
Judging by the material that’s been released so far, Trump’s rage is understandable.
Comey did more than just characterize Trump as a man “untethered to the truth,” surrounded by sycophants and with a style of leadership more suitable to a mob boss than a president of the world’s greatest country.
He went so far as to question the strength of the president’s marriage, by reprising some of the most salacious accusations that were presented in the now-debunked “Trump dossier,” about Trump engaging in actions with Russian prostitutes that can only be described as disgusting.
From his Twitter posts, the president’s outrage is almost palpable.
James Comey is a proven LEAKER & LIAR. Virtually everyone in Washington thought he should be fired for the terrible job he did-until he was, in fact, fired. He leaked CLASSIFIED information, for which he should be prosecuted. He lied to Congress under OATH. He is a weak and.....
....untruthful slime ball who was, as time has proven, a terrible Director of the FBI. His handling of the Crooked Hillary Clinton case, and the events surrounding it, will go down as one of the worst “botch jobs” of history. It was my great honor to fire James Comey!
Comey obviously has an axe to grind against the commander in chief, and he’s willing to stoke even baseless suspicions in order to strike back.
In an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos published Friday morning, Comey told the former Clinton White House toady that Trump had asked him to investigate the dossier claims that Trump had engaged in urination games with prostitutes in Moscow.
Comey said the conversation took place when the two men shared a private dinner in January 2017, a week after Trump’s inauguration.
“He may want me to investigate it to prove that it didn’t happen,” Comey said. “And then he says something that distracted me because he said, you know, ‘If there’s even a 1 percent chance my wife thinks that’s true, that’s terrible.'”
A normal person might think that was perfectly understandable. Every man would like to think his wife would not believe such a thing to be possible, but every man wrongly accused would also like to have the evidence of his innocence out for everyone — including his spouse — to see.
Comey chose to view the conversation differently. And it’s tough to believe that his own bitterness at being kicked out of the FBI director’s post isn’t skewing his thinking.
“In what kind of marriage, to what kind of man, does a spouse conclude there is only a 99 percent chance her husband didn’t do that?” Comey wrote, according to the New York Post.
The legions of Trump critics in the media and the Democrat Party are going to lap up observations like that.
But decent people — regardless of their politics — should be disgusted. Judging by the account of the Comey-Stephanopoulos interview published by ABC on Friday, the former FBI director is bent on making his personal grievance against Trump into a national issue based on the tawdriest of accusations.
And considering this is the man who headed the infamously biased investigation of Hillary Clinton’s private email server when she was secretary of state — and publicly declared that she should not be prosecuted when everyone in America who’s not blinded by partisanship knew she was guilty of abusing the nation’s secrets, at the very least — Comey’s judgment has to be taken as suspect.
When Trump was presented with an apparent betrayal by former chief strategist Steve Bannon in the White House gossip-fest “Fire and Fury” by Michael Wolff, his outrage was legendary.
What’s going to come after Comey’s book is officially released is likely to be what real “fire and fury” looks like.
