Sketching in Caminha
[By Eduardo Salavisa in Caminha, Portugal] Caminha, a small village North of Portugal, has a river on one side and, on the other side you can see Spain. There we have the notion where Portugal ends and Spain begins. It’s really exciting to be on that spot. And the village is very old and beautiful.I was invited last year to go there for a few days to draw it. Without strings. I only had to wonder, stopping when ever I wanted, talk to whoever I felt like, eat where I could and draw what I felt was interesting. There was only one thing I had to do: talk to the students of the local high school about observation drawing, and then, take them out to draw.
It was very gratifying. And the outcome was a small book with 70 drawings. A kind of fac simile, with the same size (11x16 cm) and with same cover as the original sketchbook.
Below some drawings and both covers: from the original sketchbook and from the book.
