Dem Rep. Swalwell goes rogue in heated hearing to call for Bannon subpoena

Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell of California disrupted a joint congressional hearing Thursday to call for the subpoena of former adviser to President Donald Trump Steve Bannon.
Former FBI special agent Peter Strzok appeared before a joint House committee hearing Thursday to discuss his role in the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
Swalwell interrupted a congressman’s questioning of Strzok during the hearing to call for a congressional subpoena of Bannon.
“Mr. chairman, I have a rule 11 motion, clause 2. I move to subpoena Steve Bannon,” Swalwell shouted during the hearing. “Mr. Bannon was a witness in the House Intelligence Committee investigation. He was under subpoena. He refused to answer questions.”
Bannon appeared behind closed doors before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence in February 2018, but declined to answer many of the lawmakers questions. His dodges caused many lawmakers to consider holding him in contempt.
The chairman, Bob Goodlatte of Virginia, did not accept Swawell’s motion at first, but allowed him to proceed.
“I move to subpoena Steve Bannon in our House Intelligence investigation. He was under subpoena. He refused a number of times to answer questions of Mr. Gowdy,” Swalwell said. “Mr. Gowdy appears to have a sincere interest in getting to the bottom of what happened, so I move under rule 11 to bring Mr. Bannon to this committee.”
Swalwell threatened Bannon with contempt if he does not comply.
“I move now for consideration for Mr. Bannon to be subpoenaed. If he refuses for contempt proceedings to occur,” Swalwell said.

Trump Proven Right, Germany Dependent On Russia

by: TTN Staff
Trump Proven Right, Germany Dependent On Russia
President Trump was questioned when he claimed Germany is beholden to Russia. But it turns out he was right, and the deal looks pretty shady. Germany's former chancellor is a big-time lobbyist for Russian energy, and Germany's dependence on them is enriching him.

According to The Daily Mail:

Donald Trump's claim that Germany imports 70 per cent of its gas from Russia at a fiery Nato summit today is correct - and the country will soon receive even more.

The EU's statistics agency, Eurostat, says that Russia is responsible for up to 75% of Germany's total gas imports.

Donald Trump also questioned the role of the former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder who is now working for Gazprom.

The former politician is rumoured to have been paid millions by Gazprom and is set to pocket even more with the announcement of the second phase of the Nord Stream project.

Germany's dependence on Russia is reported to be increasing in the near future, and that creates major security concerns for Europe.

Gov Cuomo vows to SUE if the Supreme Court overturns Roe vs Wade!!!
Just when you think the absurdity of the left has reached his limit…
Today NY Gov. Cuomo actually said he will sue if the Supreme Court overturns Roe vs Wade. It’s not a mistake.

Earlier today, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo vowed to sue if the Supreme Court acts to roll back Roe v. Wade.

Does he think the future Supreme Court that overturns Roe vs Wade is going to suddenly decide it made a mistake because he threatens to sue? And who exactly is going to hear his lawsuit? Is some activist lower court going to overrule the highest court in the land?

Furthermore, what’s the point of the lawsuit anyway? If Roe vs Wade is overturned, legal authority simply goes back to the states. He lives in a progressive state and they can make all the pro-baby killing laws they want to make. While that would still be a travesty, that’s what would happen.

He’s also whining about his state not having good enough baby-killing laws because they always depended on Roe vs Wade:

For years, what the Republicans in the Senate have said, “well, we don’t need New York law because we have Roe v. Wade and nobody’s crazy enough to try to roll back Roe v. Wade.” Yeah, accept the man they nominated for President of the United States who wound up winning the election. But that was always the answer, you don’t need a New York law. We have Roe v. Wade. Well now we know we’re not guaranteed Roe v. Wade. And the New York law, my friends does not currently go as far as Roe v. Wade. Roe v. Wade has the protections that we now rely on in New York. We never passed the New York State law because we relied on Roe v. Wade and everyone assumed it would always be there and because the Republicans wouldn’t pass it, using that as an excuse.

We now need to codify Roe v. Wade, which will actually increase the protections in New York. God forbid they do what they intend to do.

I want to get it done before the Supreme Court does that because I don’t want any gaps in a woman’s right to protection and we have a better legal case when the Supreme Court acts because I will sue when the Supreme Court acts and I want the New York State law in place.

Pizza King Busted by Speech & Thought Police
According to a news wire story today, John Schnatter started his Papa John’s pizza empire by “turning a broom closet at his father’s bar (in Indiana) into a pizza spot.”  A fantastic American entrepreneurial success story – akin to starting a technology company in a garage.
Unfortunately, Mr. Schnatter got on the wrong side of the Speech & Thought Police when he criticized certain anti-American NFL football players for taking a knee during the National Anthem last year.
As such, the corporation he founded sentenced him to virtual oblivion on the public stage – no more starring in his own commercials - and forced him into a version of “sensitivity training” to try to rehabilitate his image.
Now, according to a report in Forbes this week, during one of his “re-education” conference calls with a firm hired to ease him back from PR Siberia, Schnatter noted that KFC’s “Colonel Sanders called blacks n-----s.”
Of course, if you’re white you can’t write the word itself in a story – even though everyone knows what it is.  Most media outlets will simply report that someone used “the n-word.” And apparently, if you’re white you can’t say, um, the “n-word” either - even if quoting someone else!
According to the Forbes article, some folks on the call were offended – and Mr. Schnatter admitted that he did, indeed, use the word in the context of quoting someone else.
As such, the sensitivity training company subsequently quit and Mr. Schnatter has now been forced to resign as chairman of the board of the very company he founded as a young man out of his father’s broom closet.
Something’s not right about this.  There must be more to the story, right?
Political Potpourri
* * * Many of you may have seen a news report today that a proposal by Rep.Dina Titus (D-Abolish ICE!) to name a peak on Frenchman Mountain east of Las Vegas after a former Nevada state legislator was approved by the House Natural Resources Committee without the companion “Mount Reagan” included in the bill.
Don’t panic.  It ain’t over ‘til it’s over.  Lots of sausage grinding left to be done.
* * * It appears all but a done deal to hold the 2020 Republican National Convention in Charlotte, NC instead of Las Vegas after the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority claimed we weren’t interested.  Apparently the Nevada GOP didn’t offer the LVCVA enough free “gift cards” to its high-paid management staff.
Always a bridesmaid; never a bride.
* * * During the GOP primary for attorney general, attorney and candidateCraig Mueller filed a RICO lawsuit against his opponent, Wes Duncan, over Duncan raising almost $200,000 for his campaign while still an employee of the Attorney General’s office.
Although Duncan won the primary, the lawsuit is still out there – which could be a major general election problem later this fall.
* * * It appears that former Nevada Assembly Minority Leader Paul Anderson – who is rumored to have quit his post last summer to take a job in the governor’s administration to avoid an extra-marital affair involving him and one of his staffers from being made public – is still pulling the strings for the GOP caucus, making Assembly Minority Leader Jim Wheeler-Dealer a LINO: Leader in Name Only.
Unfortunately for a number of GOP assembly candidates, Anderson’s old political operation - funded by his old Growth & Opportunity PAC, which is now being run by ousted Assemblyman James Oscarson – is running campaigns under the (mis)management of a still wet-behind-the-ears Anderson political apparatchik named Omar De La Rosa.
As such, look for some Republican assembly candidates who could have/should have won to end up on the short end of the stick on November 6th.
* * * Speaking of the Assembly caucus, in response to Anderson/Wheeler-Dealer’s caucus declaring it wasn’t supporting the Republican nominee in District 36, Dennis Hof (one of my clients), in the general election - and threatening to assign him to the “bad boy” office if he wins anyway - Hof returned fire yesterday in typical Hofesque fashion.
It’s a thing of beauty!  Click here
* * * It appears the Clark County Elections Department has screwed up the mail-in redo election for the June 12 GOP primary election screw-up for the Clark County Public Administrator race.  There are reportedly already 1,400 ballots that have been returned which weren’t signed because the signature request was put on the outside of the envelope instead of on the ballot itself. So look for a redo of the redo.
You had one job!
* * * Save the Date:  Next year’s annual Citizen Outreach cruise will once again be heading to Mexico – but this time we’re adding a day in Mazatlan instead of two days in Puerto Vallarta.  Also, instead of going for Mother’s Day in May, we’re gonna go April 6-13 to celebrate my 60th birthday – if I make that long!
Additional details coming soon.  But pencil it in if you might be interested in joining us.

Haley team: China and Russia ‘must immediately stop’ delivering oil to North Korea
by Joel Gehrke
China and Russia “must immediately stop” delivering oil to North Korea in light of analysis that shows the rogue regime has acquired more fuel in 2018 than the United Nations Security Council permits, according to U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley’s team.
“Ambassador Haley and [her] team submitted a report to the 1718 committee showing that the DPRK has breached the 2018 annual cap for refined petroleum products – in violation of UNSCR 2397,” a U.N. Security Council diplomat told the Washington Examiner.
Resolution 2397, which passed in December of 2017, stipulates that North Korea can import only 500,000 barrels of oil annually. But the regime has blown through that cap. North Korea’s access to “refined petroleum products” has been enhanced through dozens of illegal ship-to-ship transfers, according to U.S. analysis contained in a report to the council.
“Our information suggests that between January 1 and May 30 of 2018, DPRK tankers have called in port in the DPRK at least 89 times likely to deliver refined petroleum products illicitly procured via [ship-to-ship] transfers,” Haley’s team wrote in the report, which was obtained by the Washington Examiner.
That’s enough to exceed the fuel cap, even by conservative estimates. “Even if each of these tankers delivered only one third of its listed capacity, the associated volume would be above the UNSCR 2397 OP 5 annual quota of 500,000 barrels per annum,” the U.S. analysis observes. “If fully loaded at around 90 percent laden, DPRK tankers have delivered nearly triple the 2018 quota at 1,367,628 barrels.”
Haley’s call for an end to the oil deliveries was first reported by AFP.

Dick Morris: Trump Is On Target in Attack on Germany
At the NATO summit this week, President Donald Trump was absolutely right to criticize the German government of Chancellor Angela Merkel for the deal it cut with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to build a natural gas pipeline under the Baltic Sea connecting Russian producers with German consumers.
Russia has always used its monopoly over oil and gas supplies to attempt to control its customers politically.
Echoing this concern, Trump said that the deal makes Germany a “captive” of Russia. He said it was “very inappropriate” for the U.S. taxpayer to pay for European defense when Berlin was making gas deals with Moscow.
Before this pipeline, natural gas from Russia to Eastern and Central Europe flowed through pipelines that ran through Ukraine, Poland and Hungary. The new $11 billion pipeline bypasses these countries and delivers the gas directly to Germany.
Putin has three goals in the pipeline project:
• Make money for the state-owned energy company Gasprom.
• Increase Russian influence over Germany.
• Make it easier for Moscow to cut off the flow of oil and gas to
Ukraine, Hungary and Poland to punish their political independence without forcing him to cut if off to Germany at the same time.
Cutting gas deliveries to Ukraine — and raising the price of gas — is a key element in Putin’s strategy to bring Kiev back into the Russian political orbit.
Several times over the past decade, Russia has cut off gas supplies to Ukraine to punish its political behavior. In particular, when hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians braved winter weather to stand for three months in Kiev’s public square to demand that the pro-Russian government resign in the wake of its electoral defeat and turn power over to its democratically, but pro-Western, opposition, Russia turned off the pipeline switch.
But, facing massive protests from Germany and France — who also lost gas supplies as a result of Moscow’s action — Putin had to turn the switch back on.
Now, with a new pipeline under the Baltic, he won’t have to. He can freeze Russia’s former Eastern European satellites to death with impunity.
Trump said, rightly, “when Germany makes a massive oil and gas deal with Russia, we’re supposed to be guarding against Russia and Germany goes out and pays billions and billions of dollars a year to Russia.”
He added: “We’re protecting Germany, we’re protecting France, we’re protecting all of these countries. And then numerous of the countries go out and make a pipeline deal with Russia where they’re paying billions of dollars into the coffers of Russia. So we’re supposed to protect you against Russia and you pay billions of dollars to Russia, and I think that’s very inappropriate.”
Trump noted that when the pipeline is finished, 70 percent of Germany’s gas supplies will come from Russia, making Berlin a satellite of Moscow.
“Germany,” the president said, “is totally controlled by Russia, cause they are getting 60 to 70 percent of their energy from Russia and a new pipeline.”
It is about time that a U.S. president called on Germany to stop appeasing Russia and making side deals that increase Moscow’s power in Europe.

James Woods Attains 'True Joy' Trolling Democrats Over Disastrous Strzok Hearing
By JAMES BARRETT

Actor James Woods has officially attained "true joy" — and he has anti-Trump FBI agent Peter Strzok and congressional Democrats to thank for his heightened state of being.
As The Daily Wire has chronicled, Strzok's hearing with the House Oversight Committee Thursday quickly devolved into contentious chaos, marked by laughable antics, nonsensical claims, hyperbolic assertions and threats of contempt of Congress. The fireworks started almost immediately, when House Oversight Chairman Trey Gowdy asked his first question of the agent who infamously vowed to his paramour Lisa Page that "we'll stop" Trump:
On August 6, you hadn’t interviewed anyone, you’re investigating this alleged Russian collusion with the Trump campaign, you’re the lead investigator, you originated the investigation, you’re the point of contact, you drafted the document, and here you are before you’ve interviewed a single solitary witness saying, ‘F*** Trump’…‘I can protect the country at many levels.’ We’re not even a week into an investigation that you originated, approved, were the contact for, you hadn’t even interviewed a single solitary soul until August 11, and you’re already pledging to protect the country from that menace, Donald Trump.... When you promised to stop Donald Trump from becoming president on August 8, how many interviews had you conducted?
Things went downhill from there. And the Democrats responded by increasingly absurd antics, including Democratic Congressman Steve Cohen declaring that he wishes he could give Strzok the Purple Heart.
The congressional circus prompted a series of posts by Woods, who's fully embraced trolling the Left on Twitter since being "blacklisted" by Hollywood. The actor starts off disgusted by the Democrats and Strzok's "unprecedented arrogant contempt for America" but eventually expresses "true joy" in watching the Democrats "squirm and weasel around".

Trump Wants A Patriotic Makeover For Air Force One -- And It's Awesome

By JOSEPH CURL  @JOSEPHCURL
Everyone knows the color. It's robin's egg blue. But President Trump wants to change that.
Trump, who has his own 757 jet dubbed "Trump Force One," wants to overhaul America's most famous plane with a new color scheme, according to Axios.
Trump wants a bolder, "more American" look.
The big picture: Trump rarely gets into the weeds of government negotiations. But he sat down in the Oval Office with Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg in February to personally hammer out the $4 billion deal for a pair of replacement 747s for use as Air Force One (the call sign for whatever aircraft the president is on).
Axios has learned that Trump had one specification for the plane that could cause tension with the Air Force and surprise around the world:
Trump wants to change the plane's signature blue-and-white look that goes back 55 years, to a redesign of the presidential aircraft by President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jackie Kennedy in the early 1960s.
We’re told that Trump wants a color scheme that "looks more American" and isn’t a "Jackie Kennedy color." He doesn’t think the current blue (technically "luminous ultramarine") represents the USA.
The president's preferred design is believed to include red, white and blue.
Trump wants the presidential plane to be "larger and more comfortable — more like the executive livery package on his personal plane than the current, couch-like sleeping configuration aboard Air Force One."
True, Air Force One is iconic, known the world over. But Trump is all about image, so it makes sense that he'd want the presidential plane to be, well, more American.
And "Luminous aquamarine" isn't exactly the color of America.
USA Today put out a slew of possible redesigns.

Peter Strzok Denies Bias: Trump Hatred ‘Expressed out of Deep Patriotism’

Deputy Assistant FBI Director Peter Strzok testifies on FBI and Department of Justice actions during the 2016 Presidential election during a House Joint committee hearing on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, July 12, 2018. - An FBI agent assailed as biased by Donald Trump after it emerged he railed against …SAUL LOEB/AFP/Getty Images

Peter Strzok repeatedly denied that his own political and partisan biases shaped his conduct as an FBI agent during Thursday testimony before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

“Let me be clear, unequivocally, and under oath: Not once in my 26 years of defending our nation did my personal opinions impact any official action I took,” said Strzok during his opening remarks. “This is true for the Clinton email investigation, for the investigation into Russian interference, and for every other investigation I’ve worked on. It is not who I am and it is not something I would ever do. Period.”
Text messages exchanged between Strzok and then-FBI lawyer Lisa Page revealed hostility towards then-presidential candidate Donald Trump and his supporters.
Strzok described his political and partisan opinions as rooted in patriotism: “Those opinions were expressed out of deep patriotism and an unyielding belief in our great American democracy.”
Strzok said personal political and partisan biases do not affect FBI agents’ conduct: “The FBI has a culture … everything we do is dedicated to pursuit of the facts where they lay, and applying the law to those facts. There is no room for personal belief. It is something that is anathema to us. It is simply something culturally that doesn’t occur.”
He also said, “The fact is, after months of investigations there is simply no evidence of bias in my professional actions.”
Strzok framed himself as a man of professional integrity. He claimed to belong to a small cadre of government officials aware of the “Russian interference investigation” in the summer of 2016 — privileged information he said was not shared with the news media.
He remarked, “There is, however, one extraordinary piece of evidence supporting my integrity, the integrity of the FBI, and our lack of bias. In the summer of 2016, I was one of a handful of people who knew the details of Russian election interference and its possible connections with members of the Trump campaign. This information had the potential to derail and quite possibly defeat Mr. Trump, but the thought of expressing that or exposing that information never crossed my mind.”
Strzok added, “I’m so proud of the bureau, and I’m particularly proud of the work that I and many others did on the Clinton email investigation. Our charge was to investigate it competently, honestly, and independently, and that’s exactly what happened.”
He continued, “I’m also proud of our work on the Russian interference investigation. This is an investigation into a direct attack by a foreign adversary, and it is no less so simply because it was launched against our Democrat process rather than against a military base. This is something that all Americans of all political persuasions should be alarmed by. In the summer of 2016, we had an urgent need to protect the integrity of an American presidential election from a hostile foreign power determined to weaken and divide America.”
Strzok praised the “Russian interference investigation” now being led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller. “This investigation is not politically motivated,” he said. “It is not a witch hunt. It is not a hoax.”
Strzok framed “Russian interference” in American elections as a primary national security threat: “The honest truth is that Russian interference in our elections constitutes a grave attack on our democracy. Most disturbingly, it has been wildly successful, sowing discord in our nation and shaking faith in our institutions.”
“I strongly believe today’s hearing is just another victory notch in Putin’s belt and another milestone in our enemy’s campaign to tear America apart,” he testified.
