The Remains of 55 U.S. Soldiers May Be Flown Home from North Korea Next WeekAgreement would mark an achievement in the ongoing talks between our two countries — and closure for many families

The U.S. and North Korea reportedly have come to an agreement: The remains of 55 American soldiers may return home to this country as early as next week.

By Kyle Becker

The development represents an important opportunity for closure for many military families, as LifeZette reported in June. An unnamed American official revealed the latest news to Stars & Stripes. “They’re going to use our cases for the remains and give them back to us,” the official told the military publication.
On Monday, the U.S. and North Korea held working-level meetings in the border village of Panmunjom to coordinate the details of the military remains’ return, according to The Korean Herald.
The agreement would mark an achievement in the ongoing talks between the U.S. and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), 65 years after the two countries signed an armistice.
The United States would be permitted to fly the military remains in containers out of North Korea on June 27, the anniversary of the armistice, according to the agreement. It would be the first repatriation of U.S. military remains from North Korea since 2007, Stars & Stripes claimed.
However, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency also reported the return of the remains of Korean War veteran Army Cpl. Albert E. Quintero in May 2018 for a full military burial with honors in Long Beach, California.
President Donald Trump said after the historic June 12 summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un that military remains were “sent back” to the United States. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said later in June that the U.S. had not yet “physically received” them.
The two parties sat down for the first meeting between generals in nine years on Sunday. North Korea also agreed to continue searching for U.S. military remains, as many outlets reported, including The Guardian.
North Korea also agreed to continue searching for U.S. military remains.
“Working-level meetings between U.S. and North Korean officials will begin on Monday, July 16, to coordinate the next steps, including the transfer of remains already collected in the DPRK,” Sec. of State Pompeo had said in a statement on Sunday.

A formal end to the war between the two nations is proposed for this year, North and South Korean officials said back in April.

Back on June 12, during the summit with President Trump, Kim Jong-un agreed to recover the remains, “including the immediate repatriation of those already identified.” But the process has been slow, Stars & Stripes reported.

Facebook exec apologizes for censoring pro-Trump social media duo

WASHINGTON – A Facebook executive publicly apologized Tuesday for mistreating Diamond and Silk, the pro-Trump social media personalities.

“We badly mishandled our communications with them,” Monika Bickert, vice president of Global Policy Management at Facebook, said at the House Judiciary Committee. “And since then, we’ve worked hard to improve our relationship.”

The comments came at a hearing on whether Facebook, Twitter and YouTube are censoring conservative voices on their platforms — a premise Democrats panned as “pure fantasy.”

Diamond and Silk claimed their pro-Trump messages had been censored from Facebook, sparking conservative outrage from GOP allies in Congress.

While Facebook said it never banned Diamond and Silk, it acknowledged Facebook sent them a message on April 5 notifying them their page was “dangerous.”

Facebook has learned from the mistakes and value the perspective the duo Trump loyalists bring the platform, Bickert said.

“We appreciate the perspective that they add to our platform,” Bickert said.

But Diamond and Silk told Fox News Tuesday they are still being censored, and instead of an apology they’d like to see their content no longer be buried. “This is straight bias,” they said.

An executive from Twitter, Nick Pickles, also apologized to GOP Senate candidate Marsha Blackburn for not allowing her to promote a campaign launch video that stressed her anti-abortion stances, saying it “was a mistake.”

“When it was brought to our attention, we rectified it the same day,” said Pickles, senior strategist of public policy at Twitter. “We apologized to her campaign at the time and would like to apologize to her again today.”

Blackburn and Diamond and Silk both testified before the House Judiciary Committee in April complaining how social media platforms suppressed their GOP views. The social media companies were invited at the time, but did not attend.

The companies told Congress they’ve made changes to their platforms to root out false information and ensure there is a free expression of diverse ideas. They rejected any notion they are biased against conservative voices.

“These claims are unfounded and false,” Pickles said.

Trump’s Actions Have Been Tough on Putin
By Dick Morris

Democratic charges that President Donald Trump was obsequious toward Russian dictator Vladimir Putin during the press conference after their Helsinki summit Monday ignore the reality of how sternly the president has dealt with Russia.

If, as some have charged, we are witnessing a president caving in to Russian blackmail, Trump has a strange way of caving in.

Unlike President Barack Obama, Trump has approved the flow of lethal weapons to Ukraine to repel the Russian invasion. Obama had limited U.S. assistance to “humanitarian” equipment.

Trump has sanctioned Russia repeatedly, for the first time approving sanctions against specific Russian oligarchs who played a role in the murder of Kremlin whistleblower Sergei Magnitsky.

He ordered U.S. troops to fire on and kill a force of several hundred Russian mercenaries fighting in Syria.

Trump ripped up the nuclear accords with Iran that Russia signed, sponsored, helped to negotiate and praised. Iran, long a quasi-satellite of Moscow, is feeling the full force of American ire.

And even now, on this swing through Europe, the president is hectoring European NATO allies to increase their defense spending to — what else? — contain Russian interventionism.

Trump is berating German Chancellor Angela Merkel for agreeing to build a pipeline for Russian gas and oil under the Baltic directly to Germany, thus increasing Berlin’s dependence on Moscow for energy.

Are these the actions of a puppet, suborned into docility by blackmail or bribery?

And what is it that Russia is alleged to have done to swing the 2018 presidential race in Trump’s direction, the central charge at issue?

The sum total of the charges so far involve the placement, under fraudulent auspices, of $100,000 of internet ads underscoring divisions in the U.S. and calling attention to racial tensions.

This paltry intervention, for which 13 Russians have been indicted by special prosecutor Robert Mueller, is portrayed as so significant that it is seen to have been a significant factor in Hillary Clinton’s defeat.

And then there is the phantom charge that Russia has Trump under its thumb by holding blackmail compromizmat over his head, a prospect first raised by Sally Yates, former deputy attorney general under Loretta Lynch, when the anti-Trump dossier was first concocted by Hillary’s campaign.

How to account for Trump’s firmness in dealing with Putin. Did he “speak softly but carry a big stick” in Helsinki? What of it?

Usually Reserved Huckabee Erupts, Hits Hillary Like Bare-Knuckle Boxer
BY REBEKAH BAKER

Former Governor Mike Huckabee pulled no punches on Monday when he called out Hillary Clinton for the blatant hypocrisy in her remarks questioning President Donald Trump’s loyalty to the United States.

On Sunday, Clinton tried to make a clever comment on Twitter, referencing Trump’s relationship with Russia and the 2018 World Cup.

“Great World Cup,” Clinton wrote. “Question for President Trump as he meets Putin: Do you know which team you play for?”

Great World Cup. Question for President Trump as he meets Putin: Do you know which team you play for?

5:15 PM - Jul 15, 2018
Clinton is the last person who should be talking about siding with the United States over Russia, considering her sketchy dealings with Russia as secretary of state under the Obama administration.
In 2009, Clinton embarrassed herself and the United States by gleefully presenting a plastic “reset button” to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov as if that gesture smoothed over any wrongs ever done by Russia to the U.S. and our allies.

Hillary Clinton gave Russia a red reset button and then just a few years later sold them 20% of our Uranium.
Now the Democrats want to pretend they care about being tough on Russia, what a joke.#TreasonSummit

4:15 AM - Jul 17, 2018
There’s also the fact that under Clinton’s leadership as secretary of state, the State Department approved a deal that gave one-fifth of the United States’ uranium-mining capacity to Vladimir Putin.
Huckabee pointed out that glaring fact, along with a few others, in a tweet Monday.
“Hillary tweeted, ‘Q for Trump as he meets Putin: Do U know which team you play for?’ @POTUS never accepted $500K dollars for 1 speech from Russian bank, taken $140 for his foundation from Russian sources, or sold Russia 1/5 of US uranium supply. Which team are YOU on, Hillary?” Huckabee wrote.

Actions speak louder than words, and Trump’s policies toward Russia have shown his allegiance to the United States and its citizens.
Clinton may be changing her tune now, but she’s made it abundantly clear that she’s willing to play on whichever team serves her own selfish interests.

Body Language Expert Shreds Media’s Entire ‘Putin Was in Charge’ Narrative
BY CILLIAN ZEAL
Was Vladimir Putin the one in charge at Monday’s press conference with President Donald Trump at their Monday summit in Helsinki? Many people would say yes. But one body language expert says that may not have been the case.
Regarding the opening press conference between the two leaders, the U.K. Express reached out to someone to read the tea leaves (so to speak) in Trump and Putin’s posture — and it’s something that’s going to have a lot of Democrats furious.
“Judi James, author and body language expert, told Express.co.uk the duo are not as friendly as the warm words from Trump would have you believe,” the paper reported.
“If the May/Trump summit looked chilly, this Trump/Putin meeting looked buried under a thick layer of perma-frost,” James said.
“Both men arrived performing the kind of alpha posturing you normally see in a boxing ring, swaggering with puffed chests and in Trump’s case a mouth clamp plus what was bordering on a scowl to camera as both pulled at their jackets in what is commonly a ‘prepare to fight’ ritual,” James said.
“In the room for the photo-call though they looked more like a sullen, divorcing couple at crisis counseling.
“Putin was especially sphinx-like, returning little of the sparse eye contact he received from Trump and maintaining a poker face even after Trump’s ‘soccer’ flattery was being translated for him,” she added.
“Trump sat in his usual ‘Trump Slump’ pose with his legs splayed and his fingers in ‘downward steeple’ position to register macho dominance but this time his fingertips tapped together throughout which is a sign of impatience.
“Putin adopted a more elegant power pose, sitting upright with one elbow on the arm of the chair but as Trump spoke Putin’s other hands clasped the lower strut of the chair arm as though irritation could have been making him keen to go.
Trump, she said, “also performed some impatience rituals like scratching up his cuff and finger-fiddling.
Trump instigated the handshake at the end and it was performed from their seats with a long distance arm-stretch and no patting or prolonging additions to give any clues away about their feelings.
James said that both men “looked annoyed.”
“When they last met their body language was cool and slightly awkward, but in dramatic fashion Putin leaned right out of his chair to whisper and chat to Trump with a smile on his face once the cameras were finished to signal a more off-screen friendship bond,” James said.
“This time the two men sat rigid in their seats with absolutely no eye contact or communication when the lights were turned off.
“This could be a ploy. It could be about pre-meeting posturing and the men could emerge showing friendship signals suggesting they’d each fought hard before allowing themselves to bond.”
But, she said, “if they do emerge in the same frosty style it could imply it might have been better had this meeting never happened.”
Of course, James’ opinions on the press conference to follow weren’t included. That’s the one that most of the media has gone apoplectic over. However, at least when it came to the first round, it looks like it may not have been Putin who was in control — at least if you believe this expert’s years of experience.

GOP’s Hugin Attacks Menendez as Poll Shows NJ Senate Race a Statistical Tie
Collage of Bob Hugin and Bob Menendez

Bob Hugin, the GOP nominee for the U.S. Senate in New Jersey, launched a blistering attack on Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) Monday as a new poll shows the race is now a statistical tie.

The Gravis Marketing Poll, provided exclusively to Breitbart News on Monday, showed that Menendez leads Hugin by just two points, 43 percent to 41 percent, which is within the poll’s 4.1 percent margin of error
In 2012, Menendez easily defeated his Republican opponent by 18 points.
But November’s election comes on the heels of a public corruption trial of Menendez which the Department of Justice dropped in January after an earlier mistrial, and Hugin is driving home the theme with New Jersey voters that perhaps justice may be better served at the ballot box than in the courtroom.
On Monday, Hugin attacked Menendez with both barrels on Twitter.
He first noted that Menendez’s “colleagues on the bipartisan Senate Ethics Committee agree he violated federal law & abused his power to help his ‘best friend’ Melgen, a convicted felon serving 17 yrs in jail for scamming millions from Medicare.”

Time for him to go. https://www.cnn.com/2018/04/27/politics/menendez-melgen-severely-admonished/index.html …
He then criticized Menendez for comparing President Trump’s meeting with Vladimir Putin to Pearl Harbor.
Senator, you are a disgrace. Comparing this to the thousands of brave men and women who lost their lives at Pearl Harbor? Pathetic.
Menendez for NJ ✔@BobMenendezNJ

Trump hanging with Putin after Russia attacked our democracy would be like FDR sitting with Hirohito after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. "Distressing" doesn't begin to describe the outrage. Distress is what Bob Hugin feels when he forgets the keys to his yacht. https://twitter.com/bobhugin/status/1018947478060662785 …
Hugin was not done yet.
Next, he blasted Menendez for “violating federal law and abusing his office to help his felon best friend.”
New Jersey won't be fooled by corrupt Bob Menendez's desperate propaganda. He has zero credibility to talk about patients after violating federal law and abusing his office to help his felon "best friend" Melgen who stole millions from Medicare by blinding patients. #NJSen
NJ Senator Bob Menendez created an entire fake news site on health policy & drug pricing—paid for by his re-election campaign in race against former pharmaceutical company CEO. The site has a disclosure, but the Facebook page calls itself “news and media" https://ift.tt/2NODBE8 …
6:43 PM - Jul 16, 2018
Hugin hit Menendez again, this time tweeting that “Bob Menendez abused his office to help a rich Florida donor who scammed seniors and blinded patients so he could scam millions from Medicare.”
Bob Hugin @BobHugin
Instead of putting the people of New Jersey first, Bob Menendez abused his office to help a rich Florida donor who scammed seniors and blinded patients so he could scam millions from Medicare. New Jersey deserves better and change is coming in November. #NJSen
Phil Kerpen ✔@kerpen

Reminder: Bob enjoyed a lavish international jet-set lifestyle on money STOLEN FROM MEDICARE by his friend who was convicted of $100M+ overbilling scheme; Bob himself avoided jail by hanging a jury on the argument "gifts to cultivate a friendship are not bribes." https://twitter.com/annalecta/status/1018862814746828805 …
6:43 PM - Jul 16, 2018
Finally, Hugin hit Menendez once more on the findings of the Senate Ethics Committee, calling the beleagured Democrat senator’s actions “a digrace to the people of New Jersey.”
Bob Menendez was found guilty by the bipartisan Senate Ethics Committee for violating federal law, abusing his office, and taking over $1 million in illegal gifts that he must pay back. His actions are a disgrace to the people of New Jersey. #NJSen
Phil Kerpen ✔@kerpen Replying to @kerpen

I hope New Jersey voters are aware that one of Menendez's arguments at trial was that doing the bidding of his Florida-resident Medicare fraudster friend was constituent service. Because U.S. Senator is a national office. He actually argued this.
With another three and a half months until election day, Menendez can look forward to more unceasing attacks from Hugin that focus on the details of his public corruption trial.
New Jersey has not elected a Republican to the U.S. Senate in more than four decades. Unless Menendez can find a way to fight back, that may change come November.

G’ day…Ciao…
