Melania Trump visits hospital for babies born to opioid-addicted mothers

On Tuesday, First Lady Melania Trump took a trip to Nashville to visit the children born addicted to opioids.
Be Best
The First Lady’s visit to Tennessee was part of her “Be Best” program.
The children she visited on Tuesday were born to mothers with an opioid addiction.
Sadly, these children were addicted as well when they were born.
Melania shared several tender moments with the children.
She seemed to take to one little girl in particular, Essence Overton.
Essence was all decked out in pink and even had her nails done.
She and the First Lady compared manicures, to little Essence’s delight.
Melania’s “mothering” skills were on full display as she sat on the floor to play with the children before leaving…
At @VUMCchildren, @FLOTUS checks out 4-year-old Essence’s manicure. Then Essence takes Melania’s fingertips and looks at her manicure and says, “Oh! You painted yours white!”
Out of Sight
Away from the cameras, Melania spent considerable time with an 8-day-old baby as well as the child’s parents.
While not identified by name, we do know the mother is 22-years-old and the father is 28-years-old.
Melania reportedly held the baby for some time as well as having a heart-to-heart with the young couple.
Stephanie Grisham, the First Lady’s spokesperson, stated, “They had a pretty emotional meeting.”
Tennessee is one of the states hardest hit by the opioid epidemic in this country.
Because of the problem, more and more babies are being born addicted, actually filling up care units faster than they can be treated.
President Trump has made the epidemic a priority for his administration, but there is still a lot of work to be done to get it under control.

This was forwarded to me recently by a friend, and I think it is thought provoking enough to continue to share!
A few weeks ago, Jack Minzey sent what was to be the final chapter in the long line of books and treatises which he had written. Professionally, Jack was head of the Department of Education at Eastern Michigan University as well as a prolific author of numerous books, most of which were on the topic of Education and the Government role therein. His interest in Conservative Politics was exceeded only by his intellectual ability.
This is the last of his works. He passed away on April 8, 2018.
CIVIL WAR
How do civil wars happen?
Two or more sides disagree on who runs the country. And they can't settle the question through elections because they don't even agree that elections are how you decide who's in charge. That's the basic issue here. Who decides who runs the country? When you hate each other but accept the election results, you have a country. When you stop accepting election results, you have a countdown to a civil war.
The Mueller investigation is about removing President Trump from office and overturning the results of an election. We all know that. But it's not the first time they've done this. The first time a Republican president was elected this century, they said he didn't really win. The Supreme Court gave him the election. There's a pattern here.
What do sure odds of the Democrats rejecting the next Republican president really mean? It means they don't accept the results of any election that they don't win. It means they don't believe that transfers of power in this country are determined by elections.
That's a civil war.
There's no shooting. At least not unless you count the attempt to kill a bunch of Republicans at a charity baseball game practice. But the Democrats have rejected our system of government.
This isn't dissent. It's not disagreement. You can hate the other party. You can think they're the worst thing that ever happened to the country. But then you work harder to win the next election. When you consistently reject the results of elections that you don't win, what you want is a dictatorship.
Your very own dictatorship.
The only legitimate exercise of power in this country, according to Democrats, is its own. Whenever Republicans exercise power, it's inherently illegitimate. The Democrats lost Congress. They lost the White House. So what did they do? They began trying to run the country through Federal judges and bureaucrats. Every time that a Federal judge issues an order saying that the President of the United States can't scratch his own back without his say so, that's the civil war.
Our system of government is based on the constitution, but that's not the system that runs this country. The Democrat's system is that any part of government that it runs gets total and unlimited power over the country.
If the Democrats are in the White House, then the president can do anything. And I mean anything. He can have his own amnesty for illegal aliens. He can fine you for not having health insurance. His power is unlimited. He's a dictator.
But when Republicans get into the White House, suddenly the President can't do anything. He isn't even allowed to undo the illegal alien amnesty that his predecessor illegally invented. A Democrat in the White House has 'discretion' to completely decide every aspect of immigration policy. A Republican doesn't even have the 'discretion' to reverse him. That's how the game is played That's how our country is run. Sad but true, although the left hasn't yet won that particular fight.
When a Democrat is in the White House, states aren't even allowed to enforce immigration law. But when a Republican is in the White House, states can create their own immigration laws. Under Obama, a state wasn't allowed to go to the bathroom without asking permission. But under Trump, Jerry Brown can go around saying that California is an independent republic and sign treaties with other countries.
The Constitution has something to say about that.
Whether it's Federal or State, Executive, Legislative or Judiciary, the left moves power around to run the country. If it controls an institution, then that institution is suddenly the supreme power in the land. This is what I call a moving dictatorship.
Donald Trump has caused the Shadow Government to come out of hiding: Professional government is a guild. Like medieval guilds. You can't serve in if you're not a member. If you haven't been indoctrinated into its arcane rituals. If you aren't in the club. And Trump isn't in the club. He brought in a bunch of people who aren't in the club with him.
Now we're seeing what the pros do when amateurs try to walk in on them. They spy on them, they investigate them and they send them to jail. They use the tools of power to bring them down.
That's not a free country.
It's not a free country when FBI agents who support Hillary take out an 'insurance policy' against Trump winning the election. It's not a free country when Obama officials engage in massive unmasking of the opposition. It's not a free country when the media responds to the other guy winning by trying to ban the conservative media that supported him from social media. It's not a free country when all of the above collude together to overturn an election because the guy who wasn't supposed to win did.
Have no doubt, we're in a civil war between conservative volunteer government and a leftist Democrat professional government.

Davis' preternatural chutzpah puts most contemporary partisans to shame

Please don’t misunderstand me: I can appreciate a good porn-star-payoff sex scandal featuring secret recordings as much as the next guy. It’s just that I was hoping our new political melodrama would feature some fresh faces. While it’s going to be fascinating to watch a shyster like Michael Cohen be transformed into a hero of The Resistance, America—even with all our transgressions—simply doesn’t deserve Lanny Davis. None of us do.
For those of you who didn’t experience the rollicking ’90s, Davis can be properly described as a personification of the cliché, “everything that’s wrong with Washington.” Cringingly slavish to those in power, a consigliere, fundraiser, surrogate, and cheerful liar, Davis was a perpetual presence on cable TV during the Clinton scandals. Few men in history have ever been able to summon his kind of loyalty in the pursuit of shameless, transparent deceit and corruption.
But we must have angered the gods, because here is Davis back in the news, preaching—without even a trace of irony—the value of integrity and honesty.
Davis is now the lawyer for Cohen, the former Trump fixer who has a recording of the president discussing a possible payoff tied to allegations of an affair with a former Playboy model, Karen McDougal. Davis contends that Cohen “has turned a corner in his life, and he’s now dedicated to telling the truth to everyone.”
Now, I certainly believe in the power of redemption, but I also tend to believe that the threat of criminal indictment, rather than an abrupt enlightenment, is more likely to induce a 51-year-old lawyer to turn over the secret tapes of his one and only client. Call me a cynic, if you must.
In any event, this morning, Davis told another former Clinton aide, ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, that more secret tapes of the president were forthcoming. Some skeptical sorts might view Davis’s presence as a sign that all of this is driven by partisanship.
Perhaps these recordings will reveal campaign finance violations or some other criminality. Perhaps they won’t. Either way, the political price is likely to be minimal. At this point, any person who is honest with himself will not be surprised that our billionaire president might have paid a former Playboy model to sign a non-disclosure agreement. It would be more surprising if he hadn’t.
In some ways, though, you can thank Davis, who played a part in corrupting the value of personal responsibility, civility, and morality in our political culture. His unwavering defense of Bill Clinton’s corruption and extramarital dalliances (and possibly worse) is a valuable reminder of how we got to this place.
For years, Davis told America that what they were seeing and reading was not what was happening. After tapes emerged of the Clintons illegally soliciting donations from big-money donors at the White House in 1997, for example, Davis sprang into action, not only contending that there was “no suggestion that there was any solicitation for money” — despite the fact that the tapes suggested exactly that — but that many of the big contributions of those who had attended the event and only days later donated to the Clintons were merely an “incidental” occurrence.
This is what he did. Every day. It’s also worth remembering that this is the guy who titled his memoir of the Clinton years, “Truth to Tell: Tell It Early, Tell It All, Tell It Yourself.”
Davis’ loyalty has never wavered. When not busy representing the odd dictator or military junta, he still keeps in touch. We were reminded of this a few years ago when a 2010 email emerged from Davis. I mention it because it’s possible that Davis authored the most obsequious letter in the long history of human correspondence. In an email to Hillary Clinton, littered with “pleases” and cringe-worthy sycophancy, he begs for a favor.
Put it this way: If Davis had sent a similar request to the Lord Almighty, he almost surely would have told Davis to “take it down a notch.”
Anyway, there was Davis last night, imploring CNN’s audience to be scandalized by the tapes of a president and his lawyer discussing how to hide an alleged affair. Davis was likely familiar with the ins and outs of these kinds of uncomfortable interactions, considering he was once tasked with dealing with “bimbo eruptions” and smearing women he surely suspected were telling the truth about President Clinton’s habitual womanizing.
It was also he who surely knew that the president’s Oval Office affair with an intern could have led to real-life komporat. It was he who probably understood that the story of alleged rape victim Juanita Broaddrick sounded credible.
Yet when Davis was asked about Broaddrick, a story that surfaced in 1999—after Clinton’s impeachment trial and after tremendous pressure was exerted by the White House—Davis said the FBI itself had found her claims unreliable. This, you won’t be surprised to learn, was a lie (unless someone at the FBI had given Davis these mystery files, which would have been illegal).
Then again, Lanny Davis possess a preternatural chutzpah that puts most contemporary partisan hacks to shame. We’re all worse off having him back.

Nikki Haley Calls Out Arab Countries at UN – ‘We Are Not Fools’

United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley has been raising hackles among the world’s diplomats from the day she took her seat in 2017.
But on Tuesday, she raised the pressure even more.
In a U.N. Security Council speech that defended Israeli strikes against the terrorist group Hamas over the weekend, Haley not only stood up for the Jewish state, she threw down a challenge for Arab and Muslim nations who constantly carp about living conditions for Palestinians, but put up so little of their own money to help.
According to Fox News, Haley pointed out that there’s “no end” to strong statements from Arab governments in the Middle East attacking Israel, but no real assistance that even comes close to what the United States provides.
And for that, the United States is attacked for its support for Israel.
“Since (1993), the United States has provided over $6 billion (with a ‘b’) dollars in bilateral assistance to the Palestinians. How much have the Arab countries – some of whom are wealthy – how much have they given to the Palestinians? It does not come anywhere close to what the United States has done,” she said, according to a State Department transcript.
“Americans are very generous people. We are humanitarian-oriented. And we continue to seek out ways to help the Palestinian people, whose plight is of genuine concern to us,” she said.
“But we are not fools. If we extend a hand in friendship and generosity, we do not expect our hand to be bitten. And as we extend our hand, we also expect others to extend theirs as well.”
Check it out here. Every word of it is worth watching, but the “we are not fools” line of thought starts about the 5:20 mark.
Actually, an argument could be made that United States policy in the region has certainly been foolish in the past. Giving billions of dollars in American aid to the Palestinian “refugees” ruled by the twin kleptocracies of Hamas and the Palestinian Authority and getting nothing but hatred and spite in return — as Haley’s speech noted — might not seem like the wisest move.
And as Haley pointed out, the nations the Arab nations that claim a kinship with the Palestinian people have done comparatively little to help.
“Where are the Arab countries when it comes to encouraging reconciliation between Palestinian factions, which is essential to peace?” Haley asked, according to Fox News. “Where are the Arab countries when it comes to denouncing Hamas terrorism? Where are the Arab countries when it comes to supporting compromises that are necessary for peace?”
With those questions, Haley hits the nail on the head.
The Arab countries aren’t interested in “peace” because it doesn’t serve their purpose.
For Arab governments, as well as Iran, the Palestinians are far more useful as suffering pawns in global politics – a perpetual thorn in Israel’s side – than they would be as peacefully resettled productive citizens (like the Jews of Israel who were thrown out of their homes in Arab countries when Israel was created but somehow managed to get on with their lives without relying on the world for handouts.)
Since the beginning of Donald Trump’s presidency, Haley has been one of the clearest voices of American foreign policy on the world stage, calling out United States rivals on all fronts, but preserving a special scorn for the bloody hypocrisies of the Middle East.
Judging by her speech on Tuesday, she’s going to keep raising the pressure.
“We are not fools,” she said.
Not anymore maybe. And maybe the rest of the world will start learning that soon.

Maxine Waters Calls For Americans to “Take to the Streets”

Lunatic, and increasingly dangerous Rep. Maxine Waters is calling for Americans to take to the streets and scream for an end to the Trump presidency and impeachment:
Talking on CNBC, she said, “I think he’s dangerous,” and added, “I don’t know why people take it. I think Americans should be out in the streets screaming to the top of their voice. Do something. Make something happen.”
The California Democrat was interviewed by host John Harwood during a CNBC event and poked at Trump, who regularly pokes at her, and she suggested that racism was involved. She also claimed that the president was employing tactics against his critics suggested by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“A lot of people call it racism,” she said. “A lot of people call it– tactics that he has employed that he’s gotten from– the Kremlin, and– Putin, and the way that they handle things.”
But, she added, “I don’t care what he says. He can do whatever he wants to. I know what I’m going to think about him. I think that this man does not deserve to be the president of the United States. He is one of the most deplorable people I’ve ever encountered in my life.”
And, she warned, “He can call me whatever he wants do. He does not intimidate me, and I’m not gonna stop talking about him.”
Devin Nunes is holding a secret that could bring down Obama’s Deep State
The Department of Justice finally released the FBI’s application for a FISA warrant to spy on former Trump campaign aide Carter Page.
The document confirmed most Trump supporters worst fears, but it was still heavily redacted.
Now Devin Nunes and other Republican Congressman are hinting that the FBI could be hiding something even worse.
Nunes and House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte are demanding the American people have access to the unredacted FISA application.
Both have access to the complete document and claim that the full application falls short of the threshold necessary to prove the FBI needed to spy on Page.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) told Fox News on Sunday that he has seen the unredacted applications, and that the American people should see them, too.
“It is critically important that the American people have the opportunity to see most of the rest of those documents,” he said.
He said sources and methods used in investigations should be protected, but that most of the information “should easily be seen by the American people.”
“They can judge for themselves, but I will tell you it does not support the issuance of a warrant against Mr. Page,” he said.
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-CA) tweeted Monday: “btw time to eliminate rest of redactions!!!”
The application makes it clear the FBI used the Christopher Steele dossier as one of the central pieces of evidence to gain permission to spy on Page.
But key details are redacted.
Critics speculate that the redactions are hiding embarrassing details such as the FBI lying to the court that Steele never briefed the media on his findings when Steele was the source for a September 2016 Yahoo article the FBI used to corroborate the allegations made in the dossier.
But no one will know the full truth about this massive scandal until all the documents are public – and that includes an unredacted version of the application for a FISA warrant to spy on Carter Page.

The New York Times and Associated Press target Judge Brett Kavanaugh's wife with records requests.

The New York Times and Associated Press both filed requests under the Maryland Public Information Act (PIA) seeking e-mails that Ashley Kavanaugh, the wife of President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Brett Kavanaugh, sent as town manager of The Village of Chevy Chase Section 5, according to documents obtained by America Rising Squared (AR2) and shared exclusively with the NTK Network.
The two news organizations took different approaches to obtain the e-mails. According to the documents, the AP made a sweeping request for “all emails sent or received” by Ashley Kavanaugh’s Village of Chevy Chase email address.
By contrast, The New York Times is currently requesting that The Village of Chevy Chase Section 5 hand over “any emails to or from Ms. Kavanaugh that contain any of the keywords or terms listed below.”
And what a list it is, including words like “liberal,” “abortion,” “gay,” and “federalist,” while also explicitly asking for e-mails containing the names of certain individuals.

This list of terms that The New York Times requested reads like it was constructed in order to manufacture a hit piece on the wife of Trump’s Supreme Court nominee. These documents appear to show that The New York Times is most interested in echoing liberal attack lines in the battle over Judge Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination, going so far as to target the nominee’s wife.
