Pocahontas strikes again...Liz Warren’s ‘racist’ justice system comment irks cops
Boston Herald
U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren is coming under blistering attack from local police for calling the justice system “racist … front to back” — including from Yarmouth’s top cop, who said her recent condolences for two slain Bay State officers is a slap in the face.
“I now cannot trust her words are real,” Yarmouth police Chief Frank G. Frederickson told the Herald last night. “It appears she is telling the audience in front of her what she thinks they want to hear.”
In a speech at Dillard University in New Orleans last Friday, Warren said “the hard truth about our criminal justice system: It’s racist. … I mean front to back.”
Frederickson, whose officer Sgt. Sean Gannon was killed while delivering an arrest warrant on a career criminal in April in Barnstable, said Warren has “diminished the sincerity of her condolence efforts” and “slapped in the face” all the hardworking local, state and federal officers.
The chief also noted Warren spoke out after Weymouth Sgt. Michael Chesna was struck in the head with a rock and shot several times with his own gun on the morning of July 15, also by a repeat offender. Both officers died in the hospital and were posthumously promoted.
Late last night Warren responded, saying in a statement to the Herald: “I appreciate Chief Frederickson’s thoughtful comments. The men and women in law enforcement work in incredibly dangerous situations. We honor those in uniform who put their lives on the line every day and those who have been killed in the line of duty to keep the rest of us safe. I spoke about an entire system — not individuals — and will continue to work on reforms to make the criminal justice system fairer.”
In a post on the department’s Facebook page yesterday, Frederickson said “Warren’s recent statement tarnished us all” and was demeaning.
Warren, who has been named as a possible 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, is running for re-election in the fall.
She is scheduled to be in Eastham today at 3:30 p.m. at Nauset Regional High School for a town hall meeting.
Dudley police Chief Steven J. Wojnar, president of the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association, also sent a letter to Warren this week slamming her choice of words.
“As a police chief in your home state of Massachusetts, as well as the statewide association representative, I am extremely troubled by this statement,” he wrote. “Labeling the entire criminal justice profession as ‘racist’ spreads false and damaging information about our members.”
Wojnar said cops are already “highly scrutinized” and harsh comments from political leaders don’t help.
“In recent months, we have seen the murder of two officers in Yarmouth and Weymouth. In only the last two weeks, two officers were shot in Falmouth,” he added.
“All of these officers were simply doing their jobs when they encountered dangerous individuals,” he wrote. “The outpouring of community support for these officers and their departments would appear to be contrary to your position.”
Wojnar added that, “at bare minimum,” police in Massachusetts deserve an explanation.
“As law enforcement professionals, as well as your constituents, that is deserved,” he added. “I gladly offer you the opportunity to discuss anything with us that you feel appropriate.”

Nancy Pelosi says voting for Democrats gives illegal immigrants ‘leverage’
by Jerry McCormick
Nancy Pelosi proved once and for all that Democrats’ only concern these days is the plight of undocumented immigrants.
While making an appearance in El Paso, TX, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said that it was important to vote Democrat to give undocumented immigrants “leverage” in this country.
Hidden Meaning
Pelosi was very careful with her wording, but she slipped up enough to let everyone know where she stands.
She started off trying to make it sound like Republicans as a whole are against immigrants.
She went on to talk about how anyone that knows an immigrant family changes their perspective on how they think about immigrants.
Notice, though, how she is very careful not to say the words “illegal” or “undocumented” in her statement:
Where Pelosi slipped was in talking about the plight of a mother crossing the desert to come to our country.
By saying that, she made it very clear she was not talking about immigrants following the rules and coming into this country legally — but rather, the thousands of people trying to sneak into this country.
Not Helping
It is difficult to understand how Democrats do not understand how much damage is done to this country by allowing immigrants to flow freely without vetting and control.
Our county is already billions of dollars in debt, but she is advocating that even more people are put on entitlement programs that we already can’t afford.
Pelosi should be as dedicated to the homeless, the veterans, the abused women, and the abandoned children in this country as she is undocumented immigrants.
What is even more amazing is the fact nobody ever calls her and people like her out on it.
Think about the last time you heard a reporter question them on what they are doing to help citizens of this country.
Still thinking? That is because it never happens!
Voters have an easy choice this November and again in 2020.
If you want your country to stay your country, vote Republican — or risk being overrun and obsolete.

LIBERAL WOMEN’S GROUP: ELLISON MUST RESIGN, DROP OUT OF AG RACE FOLLOWING DOMESTIC ABUSE ALLEGATIONS
Peter Hasson | Reporter
A liberal-leaning women’s group is calling on Democratic Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison to resign from Congress and end his attorney general campaign following allegations that he physically abused his ex-girlfriend.
“We believe women. We believe Karen Monahan,” UltraViolet executive director Shaunna Thomas said in a statement Monday. “A domestic abuser does not belong in any position of power but particularly not as the top prosecutor in the State.”
“Keith Ellison should withdraw his candidacy for Minnesota’s Attorney General and resign from the House of Representatives.”
Ellison, the deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee, denied he physically abused Monahan, an activist for liberal environmental organization, Sierra Club.
Karen Francis Monahan especially loved "Little Red Corvette" at the Revolution Reunion @FirstAvenue .
Monahan’s son, Austin, on Saturday first accused Ellison of beating his mother in a viral Facebook post. Austin claimed to have uncovered a video on his mom’s laptop that showed Ellison dragging her off a bed and screaming expletives at her.
“Karen and I were in a long-term relationship which ended in 2016, and I still care deeply for her well-being,” Ellison declared in a statement Sunday. “This video does not exist because I never behaved in this way and any characterization otherwise is false.”
Monahan backed up her son’s account of events.
“What my son said is true. Every statement he made was true.@keithellison, you know you did that to me,” she tweeted Sunday.
“I have given every opportunity to get help and heal. Even now, [you are] willing to say my son is lying and have me continue to leak more text and info just so others will believe him.”

Bill Nelson goes silent amid charges of fabricating Russian hacking claim
By James Varney - The Washington Times
With early voting beginning Monday in some Florida counties, the Senate race there was jolted as Republican Gov. Rick Scott kept up the pressure on Sen. Bill Nelson’s thus-far unsubstantiated claims that Russian operatives have already compromised Florida elections.
In the hotly contested race, Democratic Sen. Nelson’s comments seemed to dovetail with the narrative of Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. elections —international shenanigans many in the American intelligence community have concluded were real.
In the hotly contested race, Democratic Sen. Nelson’s comments seemed to dovetail with the narrative of Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. elections —international shenanigans many in the American intelligence community have concluded were real.
But Mr. Nelson’s pointed remarks triggered a storm of protest not only from his Republican challenger, Mr. Scott, but from other Florida officials, too.
Mr. Scott spent the weekend hammering Mr. Nelson for his claims last Tuesday that “Russians are in Florida’s elections records,” and that they had “already penetrated certain counties in the state and they now have free rein to move about.”
The senator offered no specifics or evidence for his bombshell, and when pressed to do so demurred on the ground it was “classified.”
Since then, Mr. Scott’s campaign has repeatedly accused Mr. Nelson of either fabricating his accusation to play off inchoate fears of Russian election hacking, or breaking the law by revealing classified information.
Mr. Nelson’s office released a statement late Friday claiming the Scott campaign was seeking to exploit a serious situation for political gain, but other than that, the three-term senator has been so invisible that state media published a story Monday afternoon headlined, “Where is Bill Nelson?”
The Nelson campaign has not offered any information buttressing his charges, either in regards to its source or the specific counties allegedly affected, and late Monday referred questions about them back to his Washington office. However, the campaign disputed the idea the senator had gone underground in a close race, saying he had appearances in the state’s Panhandle region on Monday.
Early Monday evening, the Nelson campaign sent out another notice that the senator would make additional appearances Tuesday in northern Florida, but remained mute on the biggest topic roiling the race.
After Mr. Scott spent the past 72 hours ripping into Mr. Nelson’s vague charges on television and in campaign e-mail blasts, the National Republican Senate Committee jumped in Monday saying the 75-year-old senator “can’t hide forever and Floridians deserve an explanation now.”
Florida’s Republican Secretary of State Ken Detzner also continued to press for evidence, although a Monday deadline he set for more information from Washington appeared to pass without a response.
Mr. Detzner and other state officials have vociferously disputed Sen. Nelson’s claim, saying they know of no such penetrations of the state’s electoral security systems.
In a letter sent Friday to Homeland Security Secretary Kristjen Nielsen and FBI Director Christopher Wren, Mr. Detzner said the allegations are without foundation.
“To the best of our knowledge and the knowledge of our federal partners, Florida’s voting systems and election databases remain secure, and there has been no intrusion of the Florida Voter Registration System and no reported breaches from the locally elected Supervisors of Elections,” Mr. Detzner wrote.
Some of Sen. Nelson’s colleagues have offered half-hearted support. North Carolina Republican Sen. Richard Burr, chairman of the Senate’s Select Committee on Intelligence, told Mr. Detzner in writing that the chances Russia would seek to subvert electoral processes in the U.S. was real and urging state officials to be diligent, but neither he nor Florida GOP Sen. Marco Rubio, who echoed that theme, offered any solid evidence Sen. Nelson’s startling charge was true.
Sen. Burr also recommended Florida officials work closely with the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI.
It was that advice that prompted Mr. Detzner’s letter, although it was unclear if they responded by Monday as Mr. Detzner requested since that was the day early voting began in some Florida counties.
Earlier this year, Mr. Detzner had said the state could not avail itself of almost $20 million in federal funds to help combat potential cyber-security attacks on its electoral systems because he couldn’t get legislative approval for it in time.
Mr. Scott promptly overruled the secretary, ordering him to request $19.2 million. It remains unclear, however, how much of that money has been spent and on what, with some state officials objecting to a provision that requires counties to return unspent funds to Tallahassee after November’s election.
