Pope Francis compares Vatican whistleblower to Satan

Pope Francis turned even more people against the Catholic Church this week with a statement many simply do not understand.
After Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano’s 11-page testimony was published, the Pope likened him to “the Great Accuser,” more commonly known as the Devil.

Keeping Quiet

The Pope has recently come under fire for remaining rather quiet while a slew of allegations was levied against the church.
While he has had no problem ripping President Trump over his immigration stance, the Pope sits on his hands as hundreds of sexual misconduct accusations are levied at the church.
Thus far, the only comment anyone has heard from him has been via a letter earlier in the month.

Accuse Me?!

The latest allegations are different, though, as they directly implicate Pope Francis.
The archbishop testified he informed the Pope about indiscretions and the information was merely brushed aside.
In his letter, Pope Francis made it seem as though the information was incomplete and given in passing.
That is not the story the archbishop told while testifying, though.
He describes a concentrated effort to hide and or ignore accusations to protect the Church.
Now, with his name involved, the Pope openly spoke out about the allegations.
During a recent homily, Pope Francis stated: “In these times, it seems like the Great Accuser has been unchained and is attacking bishops.”
“True, we are all sinners, we bishops. He tries to uncover the sins, so they are visible in order to scandalize people,” Pope Francis added.
This is not an effort to scandalize people, but rather, bring them to justice.
The Catholic Church has always existed in a type of bubble.
Dozens, if not hundreds of priests have been protected and whisked away to another assignment when sexual assault allegations were levied.
Somehow, this has always been accepted, as we never see these perverts brought to justice.
Thousands upon thousands of lives have been ruined, yet still, nothing happens.
Finally, there is a group of clergy willing to do the right thing to purge the Church of these deviants — and the Pope likens them to the Devil himself!
Archbishop Vigano’s heroic behavior must not be silenced, and this so-called Pope must be brought to justice.

Volkswagen is squashing their legendary Beetle car
After selling it on and off in the U.S. for nearly seven decades, Volkswagen has decided to squash its iconic Beetle.
The company’s American unit announced Thursday that it would end global production of the third-generation bulbous bug in July of next year after offering two special editions for sale.
The compact Beetle was introduced in Germany in 1938 during the Nazi era and came to the U.S. 11 years later, where it became a symbol of utilitarian transportation often used by hippies. The iconic car sold for about 30 years before U.S. sales stopped in 1979. The last of the original bugs was produced in Puebla, Mexico, in 2003.
Volkswagen revived it in the U.S. in 1998 as a more modern “New Beetle,” but it attracted mainly female buyers. The company revamped it for the 2012 model year in an effort to make it appeal to men, giving it a flatter roof, less bulbous shape, a bigger trunk and a navigation system. U.S. sales rose fivefold to more than 29,000 in the first year, rising to just over 46,000 in 2013 but tailing off after that. Last year VW sold only 15,166, according to Autodata Corp.
The special editions, which come in coupe and convertible body styles, get unique beige and blue colors in addition to the normal hues. They also get standard extra chrome, new wheels and three-color ambient lighting inside.
Volkswagen has no immediate plans to revive the Beetle again, but the company wouldn’t rule it out.
“I would say ‘never say never,’” VW of America CEO Hinrich Woebcken said in a statement.
The company plans to roll out an electric version of the old Bus in 2022 called the I.D. Buzz.

Sen. Feinstein Made Herself Look Like Clown With Kavanaugh Ploy

by Jeff Dunetz

After a week of lies, biased editing of his statements, and one fake Spartacus imitation, supreme court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh was unscathed by the left and looked to be on his way to being confirmed by the entire Senate. But the left demanded that the Democrats do something to prevent Kavanaugh from the inevitable approval.
Therefore, Sen. Feinstein  (D-CA) who despite being a leftist has problems with the far-left wing of her party tried a last-minute ploy to scuttle the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh that failed so miserably it ended \up making herself look like the court jester.

Earlier today the Senator who is the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee released the following statement

I have received information from an individual concerning the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court,” Feinstein said in her surprise statement. “That individual strongly requested confidentiality, declined to come forward or press the matter further, and I have honored that decision. I have, however, referred the matter to federal investigative authorities.”

As the day went on Feinstein’s tale began to fall apart. It started to leak out that the letter described allegations of sexual misconduct involving Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and a woman — when they were both high school students.  Perhaps the woman got a sex change since then because Kavanaugh went to Georgetown Prep is an all-boys boarding school in Bethesda, Maryland.
But the Guardian claims it happened off campus:

A source who said they were briefed on the contents of the letter said it described an incident involving Kavanaugh and a woman that took place when both were 17 years old and at a party. According to the source, Kavanaugh and a male friend had locked her in a room against her will, making her feel threatened, but she was able to get out of the room. The Guardian has not verified the apparent claims in the letter. It is not yet clear who wrote it.
So wait. They locked her in the room, but she got out?  If they locked her in the room how did she get out?
Making Feinstein look a bit more foolish, the New York Times reported that the Senator has been holding on to the letter for two months, but didn’t let anyone know about it till Kavanaugh was about to be voted on by the entire Judicial Committee:

The information came in July in a letter, which was first sent to the office of Representative Anna Eshoo, Democrat of California, and accuses the judge of sexual misconduct toward the letter’s author, a person familiar with the letter confirmed. Ms. Feinstein, who received the letter from Ms. Eshoo’s office, informed fellow Democrats on the Judiciary Committee about its existence and its contents on Wednesday evening but did not share the letter itself.

Perhaps she didn’t share the letter because she feared that Senator Spartacus (D-NJ) would release it to the public, or he fellow Californian Sen. Kamala Liar would deceptively edit it to change its meaning and then release it to the public.

Before we go on ponder this for a moment; Kavanaugh worked for Ken Starr. He then worked in the Bush White House, and first nominated to the appellate bench in 2003. Each of those times he received an extensive FBI background check and had another one when he was nominated to join the Supremes.  Now this supposed incident has been sitting out there for 36 years, and the FBI never found it? And the victim was silent until two weeks ago? Kind of makes one believe the story is bogus. The FBI thought so also.

Finally, the FBI must have decided that Diane Feinstein didn’t look foolish enough.  A person familiar to the matter (i.e., another leaker) told the Washington Post that

the FBI does not now plan to launch a criminal investigation of the matter, which would normally be handled by local authorities if it was within the statute of limitations. The FBI instead passed the material to the White House, as an update to Kavanaugh’s background check, which already had been completed, the person said. The move is similar to what the bureau did when allegations were leveled against former White House aide Rob Porter.

An FBI official said, “Upon receipt of the information on the night of September 12, we included it as part of Judge Kavanaugh’s background file, as per the standard process.”

So the FBI doesn’t believe that there’s a “there” there. And now the White House has the info but Feinstein’s Democratic partners, many of whom wanted her to just release the letter, don’t know what’s in it.

The bottom line is  Sen. Feinstein floated a tale at the last minute in an attempt to derail the Kavanaugh nomination. The story was worse than the usual MSM anonymous story because not only don’t we know who the accuser is, but we aren’t being told the details of her accusation. And the FBI believes it’s a load of cow chips, so they aren’t investigating it.

This sordid tale tells more about the Democrat’s desperation to stop Kavanaugh and Feinstein’s desperation to become beloved by the far left so she can get re-elected than it says anything about Judge Kavanaugh.

And Feinstein is left looking like a clown.

SOCIALIST ALEXANDRIA OCASIO-CORTEZ WEARS $3,500 OUTFIT FOR PHOTO-OP WITH CONSTRUCTION WORKERS

That wealth could have been redistributed better

Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Wears $3,500 Outfit For Photo-op With Construction WorkersSocialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s working class credentials are under scrutiny again after she was pictured wearing a $3,500 outfit for a photo-op with construction workers.

Ocasio-Cortez wore a $1990 Gabriela Hearst blazer, $890 Gabriela Hearst pants and $625 Monolo Blahnik shoes.

The outlay on such an expensive outfit left some wondering if such wealth could have been redistributed better.

null
“This so pisses me off,” responded one Reddit user. “Bugs the shit out of me that she wants to raise taxes, pretending to champion the poor….in a $3k outfit.”

“I’ve never met a socialist who had the faintest idea of redistributing a penny of their own money. They’re all about taking all the time,” added another.

“As a barmaid she took all $500 of the tips after a holiday night at the bar, stiffing the waitresses with only $50,” responded another user. “She is only a socialist if she can take as much as she wants and leave the scraps for everyone else.”
nullShe’s wearing more than what he earns in a month.

Back in July it was revealed that despite Ocasio-Cortez claiming to be a rough and ready working class girl from the Bronx, she mostly grew up in wealthy Westchester County.

Numerous mainstream media biographies of Ocasio-Cortez omit the fact that she basically grew up middle class, with her architect father able to send her to Boston University to study economics and international relations.

One wonders how disconnected Ocasio-Cortez is now to ordinary Americans given that she is swanning around in $3,500 outfits while claiming to be a working class hero.

China and Vatican to Sign Landmark Deal Over Bishops

Under agreement, Beijing would recognize pope as head of China’s Catholics in return for Vatican recognition of excommunicated Chinese bishops

China and the Vatican are set to sign a landmark agreement later this month ending a long struggle between Beijing’s Communist rulers and the pope over who chooses the leaders of Catholicism in the world’s most populous country, according to two people familiar with the matter.

Reactions to the deal, which gives both sides a say in appointing the church’s bishops in China, are likely to be sharply divided, with some hailing a diplomatic coup by the Vatican that draws China closer to the West and others warning of an important defeat for the principle of religious freedom.

The controversial deal would include the first official recognition by Beijing that the pope is the head of the Catholic Church in China. In return, Pope Francis would formally recognize seven excommunicated Chinese bishops who were appointed by the Communist government without Vatican approval.

“It is a baby step by China toward recognizing some of the framework of the Western world,” said Francesco Sisci, an Italian who teaches international relations at China Renmin University in Beijing. “It doesn’t go as far as recognizing what we in the West call religious freedom but it is a degree of religious autonomy.”

Others, including some U.S. diplomats, are concerned the pope is conceding a strong influence over church leadership to an avowedly atheist authoritarian regime.

“This is a strange step backward on terrain over which the church has fought, not for centuries but millennia,” said Sandro Magister, a Vatican expert who writes for Italy’s L’Espresso magazine. “The church has managed to free itself from control of sovereigns and governments on ecclesiastical matters such as the naming of bishops, but now this achievement is clamorously contradicted by the agreement with China.”

The pact with the Vatican could still fall through or be delayed due to unforeseen events, one of the people familiar with the matter said. The two sides are close to signing even though China’s government has recently intensified a crackdown on Christians and other religious groups, through measures including closing churches and removing religious symbols such as crosses and the domes of mosques. The deal is thus expected to stir criticism of the pope already under fire from within and outside the church for his handling of clerical sexual abuse.

In practice, China’s Communist Party is unlikely to give up control over any religion, even Catholicism, which has relatively few adherents in China. Chinese President Xi Jinping has launched a program to “Sinicize” all religions to make sure they don’t offer alternate viewpoints to the Communist Party. As part of that policy, Beijing is strengthening its sway over clerical appointments and religious teachings to emphasize patriotism.

The Chinese leadership has been engaged for years in a campaign to diminish the influence of the Dalai Lama, who remains popular among Tibetans despite nearly six decades in exile. It has also ramped up a mass detention program for Muslims in its northwest region of Xinjiang, where Beijing is worried about violent separatism fanned by militant Islam. Giving the Vatican too much say risks setting a bad precedent in Beijing’s eyes.

The Vatican had hoped to sign the deal in the spring, but needed several more months to overcome resistance from some Chinese Catholics, one of the persons familiar with the matter said. In particular, the bishop of the southeastern diocese of Shantou balked at stepping aside in favor of an excommunicated bishop as part of the agreement, this person said.

Pope Francis’ pursuit of the deal reflects his desire for better relations with China—where Christianity is growing fast, though most new adherents are Protestants—and an end to divisions among Catholics there.

China’s estimated 10 million Catholics are legally supposed to worship only in churches approved by the Chinese Patriotic Catholic Association, a state-controlled body not recognized by the Vatican. But many Catholics attend unregistered churches in so-called underground communities led by bishops loyal only to Rome.

Beijing is eager for the publicity boost that mending ties with the Vatican would bring, even as the Communist Party prosecutes a systematic campaign to bring Catholicism and all other religions more firmly under its control.

A new agreement would allow the pope to veto new nominees for bishops proposed by the Chinese government. Beijing’s major condition for signing has been that the pope recognize the seven Chinese bishops excommunicated by Rome over the years.

“The dialogue between the Holy See and the People’s Republic of China continues,” Vatican spokesman Greg Burke said. “There’s nothing else to add at the moment.”

At a routine Chinese Foreign Ministry press conference on Thursday, spokesman Geng Shuang declined to confirm the deal’s status, but said China was sincere in its efforts for better relations with the Vatican.

China broke off diplomatic relations with the Vatican in 1951. In recent decades, the two sides have cooperated informally to agree on most bishops appointments, but Beijing has periodically named bishops without the pope’s approval.

At the last meeting of the negotiating teams, in Rome in June, the Vatican assured the Chinese representatives that Pope Francis would sign the necessary document to lift the excommunications of the seven government-appointed bishops and recognize them as the bishops of their dioceses about a week before the deal is signed, said one of the people familiar with the matter.

That recognition would require two bishops who have shunned government control, in the dioceses of Shantou and Mindong, to step aside in favor of government-appointed bishops. They would be the first so-called underground bishops to be asked to do so by the Vatican.

Shantou Bishop Zhuang Jianjian and Mindong Bishop Guo Xijin couldn’t be reached for comment on Friday.

Also as part of the deal, the government is expected to recognize the “underground” bishop of Qiqihar, near the Russian border, one of the people said. Qiqihar Bishop Wei Jingyi couldn’t be reached for comment Friday.

The agreement is explicitly provisional, meaning that it allows for the possibility of revisions after one or two years if either party sees the need. Both parties have agreed that the text of the agreement won’t be published even after it is signed, one of the people said.

Critics of the prospective deal have cast it as a capitulation by the Vatican.

“I would make a cartoon showing the pope kneeling and offering the keys of the kingdom of heaven and saying, ‘Now, please recognize me as pope,’” Cardinal Joseph Zen, a former bishop of Hong Kong, told an interviewer in March. “The advisers of the pope are giving him advice to renounce his authority.”

The agreement on bishop appointments would leave unresolved other major questions between the Vatican and China, including the position of most of the more than 30 bishops recognized by Rome but not by Beijing. The reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Beijing and the Vatican remains a distant goal.
