In another account detailed in the same yearbook, two girls came to a party dressed as “veiled terrorists,” wearing full burkas and carrying guns. “We were confronted by…a pair of veiled terrorists, [two redacted names], were the guns real or did you just want to get served first?” the yearbook reads, showing a picture of two women in Muslim-like attire. Another Holton-Arms yearbook from 1982, when Blasey would have been a sophomore, also includes an off-color “Heil Hitler” joke. It’s important to note that while extensive attention has been paid to the high school years of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, the media has thus far failed to cover these pertinent facts surrounding Blasey’s high school years, where a culture of drunken “multiple all night benders” and alcohol-induced amnesia, not to mention casual racism, appeared to be the norm. Ex-FBI Agent Sounds Alarm on Kavanaugh Accuser’s Polygraph Test By Jack Davis The truth about polygraphs is that they do not always identify fiction, said several experts responding to news accounts that the woman who has accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct passed a polygraph test. Or as one ex-FBI agent put it, “Everyone knows polygraph exams can be beaten.” Christina Blasey Ford has said that she passed a test, and used that as proof that she is telling the truth in her disputed account that Kavanaugh was sexually aggressive towards her during a party in the 1980s, when both were in high school. Debra Katz, Ford’s lawyer, has said the results of the test were shared with The Washington Post when it published its interview in which Ford revealed her story. But the fact that Ford took the test at all — in early August, according to The Post — raised the eyebrows of Sen. Lindsey Graham. Graham noted that the test seemed out of character if Ford had truly never planned to do more than send her July letter to California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein about the alleged encounter, which Kavanaugh denies. “If Ms. Ford really did not want to come forward, never intended to come forward … why did she pay for a polygraph in August, and why did she hire a lawyer in August? And who paid for it?” the South Carolina Republican said, according to Fox News. Experts also said the test means less than it seems. A polygraph “can no more detect lies as it can detect truth,” said Mark Zaid, a Washington-based lawyer, according to the Washington Examiner. “So, to say that the results reflect (Ford) telling the truth is an inaccurate description, but it’s unfortunately how pop culture addresses it.” Without knowing what is said, the test has no meaning, said one expert. “It’s not the result of the polygraph; it is what polygraph subjects say during the polygraph interview that is most valuable,” said Thomas Mauriello, a former polygraph examiner at the Defense Department. “The result of a polygraph simply is whether you did or did not respond to a particular question. A response is not a lie, because the polygraph is not a lie detector as most think,” Mauriello said. “A response is the activation of your sympathetic nervous system when answering a question asked during the examination.” Former FBI agent James Gagliano’s criticisms were even stronger. “In this case, if they want to put this out as irrefutable evidence that this woman is telling the truth because she passed a polygraph — that’s not the way polygraphs work,” Gagliano said. “If that were the case, I would’ve taken every drug dealer, gangbanger, and pedophile I investigated, and I would’ve thrown them on the polygraph.” Gagliano noted that the body’s reaction to a lie will not be triggered if the subject believes that he or she is telling the truth. “Everyone knows polygraph exams can be beaten,” he said. “If someone is a psychopath or a sociopath, if you don’t have a conscience, if you don’t know right from wrong — you can beat it.” Beyond the case of Kavanaugh’s accuser, Stephen Fienberg, a statistician who headed a 2002 review of the use of polygraphs, told NPR in a January 2015 interview that the devices can be useful, but are not perfect. “These channels that the polygraph captures, whether it’s the sweating on fingertips or breathing, this information does tie in to the notion of lying or deception,” he said. “Unfortunately, it ties into other things as well.” “My personal conclusion is it has no place in government’s dealings with its citizens,” Fienberg told NPR. Christine Blasey Ford remembered in Dewey Beach bar scene DEWEY BEACH, Delaware — Christine Blasey Ford grew up in Washington’s affluent Maryland suburbs, graduated from an expensive all-girls private high school and spent summers immersed in the wild nightlife of this Eastern Shore resort town. She went on to become a clinical psychology professor at Palo Alto University in California, having earned a psychology degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, master’s degrees at Pepperdine and Stanford, and a Ph.D. in educational psychology at the University of Southern California. But it was those early days — when she was known as Chrissy Blasey, a student at the Holton-Arms School who ran with students from a network of exclusive tony schools just across the border from the District of Columbia — that have landed her at the center of the most explosive Supreme Court confirmation battle in decades. First in a confidential letter to Senate Democrats and then in a Washington Post interview, Ms. Blasey Ford accused Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, a student at another expensive private school, of sexually assaulting her at a high school party 36 years ago, when she was 15 and he was 17. She said he was stumbling drunk when he forced her onto a bed, tried to strip off her clothes and stifled her cries for help — all while his friend watched the struggle. Judge Kavanaugh vehemently denies her allegation, and his supporters say it’s completely contrary to what they know about him. Meanwhile, Ms. Blasey Ford’s family, friends and people she has never known but who attended her school say they believe her, say her story is all too familiar to many other female students and say it should disqualify the judge from elevation to the Supreme Court. “We believe that Chrissy has acted bravely by voicing her experiences from the past, and we know how difficult this is for her,” her husband and other close family members said in an open letter posted online Thursday. “Chrissy is not someone who chooses to be in the spotlight. We ask that her decision to share a private and difficult recollection be treated seriously and respectfully.” It is plausible that Judge Kavanaugh and Ms. Blasey Ford would know each other. They traveled in the same suburban circles: He at Georgetown Prep, the Jesuit boys’ school that molds the sons of privilege, and she at the all-girl’s bastion for the daughters of the liberal elite. Students from the two schools in Bethesda, Maryland, regularly socialized, and the families in those circles often vacationed on the beaches of Delaware and Maryland — Ms. Blasey Ford among them. Longtime residents of Dewey Beach, a Delaware resort known in the late 1980s as a place where the college students who worked the other resorts lived and partied, remember her nights waitressing at the Waterfront, a raucous bayside bar. “Things that would be considered out of hand today was OK back then. Things have changed,” said a man who encountered Ms. Blasey Ford during those years, speaking to The Washington Times on the condition of anonymity. “That was the yuppie period of time, and Dewey Beach was a yuppie town, and weekend warriors were coming down from D.C. It was their Vegas.” Ms. Blasey Ford was a popular figure on the Dewey Beach bar scene. She once got caught in a romantic triangle that culminated with the two men getting into a fistfight over her, according to people familiar with the incident. “She enjoyed the Dewey Beach nightlife,” said another resident speaking on the condition of anonymity. The resident, now a restaurant owner, added that the town was “pretty wild” in those days. Lisa Banks, one of Ms. Blasey Ford’s attorneys, did not answer The Times’ questions about her client’s Dewey Beach past. Ms. Blasey Ford’s stint at the Waterfront coincides with a time in her life when her career path was uncertain, according to her friends. She struggled academically late in high school and early in college before steadying herself, Jim Gensheimer, one of her close friends in Palo Alto, told The Mercury News in San Jose. By 1988, Ms. Blasey Ford graduated from the University of North Carolina, headed to California and seldom looked back. She spent three years at Pepperdine and earned a master’s degree in clinical psychology. She went on to earn a doctorate from the University of Southern California in educational psychology in 1996. Three years later, she returned to Pepperdine to work as a visiting professor and then was hired by Palo Alto University in 2012 to teach as part of a consortium with Stanford University as a research psychologist and biostatistician. Colleagues there have described her to news reporters as reserved. Her academic writings are widely published. In 2015, Ms. Blasey Ford and Helena Chmura Kraemer co-authored the second edition of “How Many Subjects? Statistical Power Analysis in Research.” But she said she kept the memories of the attempted assault to herself until 2012 when, during couples therapy with her husband, Russell Ford, she brought it up. She married Mr. Ford, an engineer, in 2002. The couple have two teenage sons. The entire family surfs, and they split their time between a beach house in Santa Cruz and a home in Palo Alto. Friends told The Mercury News that the family eats organically and drives hybrid vehicles that they plug into a charging station in their driveway. Other friends described her as liberal, chatty and dedicated to her family and her career as an educator. Ms. Blasey Ford embraces left-wing politics and opposes President Trump. Last year, she joined a women’s march against Mr. Trump. Mr. Gensheimer, who has known Ms. Blasey Ford for more than eight years, said her story about Judge Kavanaugh rings true. “She clearly has nothing to gain and much to lose by going public with her story. I know from things she has told me, including her need to have more than one exit door in her bedroom to prevent her from being trapped, that this event was serious enough to have a lasting impact on her life,” he said in an email to The Times. Ms. Blasey Ford’s allegations, which threaten to upend Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the high court, have made her a celebrity on the left and of the #MeToo movement. Her classmates and fellow alumnae from Holton-Arms singed a letter to Congress vouching for her honesty and integrity. It said she came forward as an “act of civic duty.” The signatories from Holton-Arms’ class of 1984 include a senior counsel at a San Antonio law firm, a middle school Latin teacher in Bethesda, the general counsel of the Office of the Inspector General in the District of Columbia, an associate professor at Harvard Medical School, a professor of Environmental Epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health, and the chief financial officer of the National Business Group on Health. Julia Louis-Dreyfus, a graduate of the class of 1979, also signed the letter. The Hollywood star’s Twitter feed has been filled this week with anti-Kavanaugh posts. It included a link to a 1998 memo that Mr. Kavanaugh, then a lawyer working for the independent counsel’s investigation of the Clintons, wrote to boss Kenneth W. Starr with a series of hard-hitting — and salacious — questions he proposed asking President Clinton about his relationship with Monica Lewinsky. • Seth McLaughlin reported from Washington. Bombshell: Christine Blasey Ford’s Hidden High School Social Life One of the enduring mysteries of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s decision to level last minute allegations of sexual misconduct against Judge Brett Kavanaugh is why her social media and online presence were so thoroughly scrubbed prior to her charges against Kavanaugh becoming public. Although internet sleuths have tracked down a few photos and articles from Dr. Blasey Ford’s professional output, she effectively ghosted herself prior to going public – a very unusual move for someone who requested and anticipated anonymity from the Democrats through whom she leveled the charges against Judge Kavanaugh. The ghosting of Christine Blasey Ford was so thorough that her high school alma mater, the prestigious all-girl Holton Arms School, even pulled the yearbooks for the years during which she was a student, when a teenage Brett Kavanaugh allegedly attacked her. However, one prescient, and as yet anonymous, blogger downloaded copies of the yearbooks [27] and posted key pages that describe the social life of “Chrissy” Blasey and her social set. The yearbook title is SCRIBE. The relevant issues are SCRIBE 82, SCRIBE 83 and SCRIBE 84, corresponding to Blasey’s sophomore, junior and senior years, when she and her classmates (and Kavanaugh) were 15-17 year old juveniles. Although the many of the names and pages are heavily redacted, what emerges from them is a description of a social scene of faculty and parent approved racism and promiscuity with multiple photos and references to binge drinking and the accompanying joy of not being able to remember any of it. This is relevant because, as the anonymous author of “CULT OF THE 1ST AMENDMENT” blog noted, Christine “Chrissy” Blasey alleges she cannot recall the exact date, place or names of people who were at the party in question. The author says the posted yearbook research is intended to refresh her recollection and the recollections of others who may recall key facts. Unfortunately, as noted above, last names have been redacted and faces obscured, other than the picture of Chrissy Blasey seen here [28]. That Blasey Ford cannot remember key details of the alleged assault will surprise no one who reads this celebratory paragraph in the 1984 Holton Arms yearbook: “Lastly one cannot fail to mention the climax of the junior social scene, the party. Striving to extend our educational experience beyond the confines of the classroom, we played such intellectually stimulating games as Quarters, Mexican Dice and everyone’s favorite, Pass-Out, which usually resulted from the aforementioned two.” The Halloween party pictured here [28] would have taken place within sixteen weeks of the alleged assault, which Blasey claims happened in the Summer of ’82, after her sophomore year. 10th grade seems to have been a ritual initiation into the “Holton party scene.” Another sophomore girl threw multiple all-night benders, the highlight of which featured a male erotic dancer in gold g-string: The anonymous author of “CULT OF THE 1ST AMENDMENT” notes that while preparing this report, he or she came across a biased viral article from Heavy.com [29] that portrays Christine Blasey and Holton-Arms as the very essence of high school purity. As for the school itself, when Blasey attended it, nothing could be further from the truth, as you will see below. 1982 was a particularly wild year for the girls of Holton Arms, noted “CULT OF THE 1ST AMENDMENT” and Scribe 82 published multiple pictures of minors drinking heavily, beer cans stacked up, liquor repeatedly glorified, "boys, beer and ‘the ‘Zoo’ atmosphere.” You can see one example through this link [30] without having to scroll through the entire article. Numerous passages in the yearbooks discuss the drunken keg parties held while parents were away from home, here’s one example [31]. Another disturbing aspect of these yearbooks, says “CULT OF THE 1ST AMENDMENT,” is evidence of overt racism therein. The author of the blog debated long and hard as to whether to include the following pages. But it’s important that we closely examine the privileged Holton-Arms culture while Christine Blasey was a student there. Here’s one example of the racism cited [32]. The author of “CULT OF THE 1ST AMENDMENT” says seeing such insensitive racism in action at this prestigious girls academy, attended by mostly white rich girls, provides context of the very privileged attitude exhibited by the Holton-Arms all female student body. That the Holton girls got these yearbooks approved by faculty and paid for by their parents shows just how powerful they were in their own right at such a young age, and certainly defies the image of Christine Blasey Ford as a helpless victim, without the mental fortitude to call her alleged attackers to account before her parents or other authority figures. Finally, there is the faculty and parent approved sexual promiscuity. As “CULT OF THE 1ST AMENDMENT” details, the girls mention their male conquests with great pride: “Beach week culminated the year for those of us lucky enough to go. With school and our minds in temporary recess, we were able to release all those troubling inhibitions of the past year. While dancing in the middle of coastal Highway, Ann [redacted last name] and friends picked up some men who passed out in their apartment…” And of course trolling the Georgetown and suburban Washington nightspots discovering that “good things come in pairs [33].” In conclusion, says “CULT OF THE 1ST AMENDMENT,” please look again at this page [33]. In the final passage, the joy of passing out and forgetting everything you did the night before is praised: “And there were always parties to celebrate any occasion. Although these parties are no doubt unforgettable, they are only a memory lapse for most, since loss of consciousness is often an integral part of the party scene.” Does any of this excuse a sexual assault, as alleged by Dr. Blasey Ford? Of course not, but what it does do is to put into context the allegations of a privileged, and perhaps troubled young woman, whose relationship with alcohol casts a great deal of doubt on her memory and her claims of powerlessness. The Holy Father was accused of knowing about horrific sexual abuse in the Church and not taking strong action to root out the abusers. And the fallout from his involvement just went from bad to worse. Pope Francis’ popularity is plummeting. A new Gallup poll finds just 53 percent of American have a favorable view of the Pope. That number plunged about 80 percent. His approval rating with American Catholics also dropped over 10 percent. The Daily Wire reports: A Gallup poll out Tuesday shows Pope Francis’s favorability in the United States “down sharply” among both Catholics and Americans, generally. The poll, which follows two weeks’ worth of bad press for the Pontiff as he ducks allegations that the Vatican protected Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, a serial sexual abuser, and even elevated him to the rank of a senior Papal adviser, shows Americans souring abruptly on the “kindler, gentler” Pope. Just after starting his reign, Francis enjoyed a near-80% approval rating from Americans, and a near-90% approval rating from U.S. Catholics. After this month’s revelations, Americans report only a 53% approval rating, while US Catholics are hovering at around 79%. The poll was taken, however, before Pope Francis responded to the allegations in a series of private homilies that seemed to blame victims for a Vatican “witch hunt” that threatens to undermine the credibility of bishops, cardinals, and clerics charged with leading the faithful. Many conservatives do not like Pope Francis’ in your face liberalism. He changed Church doctrine to give Priests the ability to forgive abortion. But his handling of the abuse scandal involving Cardinal Theodore McCarrick is what has him in hot water. He delivered homilies attacking the accusers and calling the allegations a witch hunt. A Pennsylvania grand jury report found McCarrick responsible for abusing altar boys and seminarians over the course of decades. Catholics and non-Catholics were appalled at Francis’ behavior. And there are now growing calls for him to resign. Why hasn’t “Gropin’ Joe” been harassed for doing precisely what Judge Kavanaugh is being accused of?
