Eola Wine Room

Dr. Jeffery Levine arrived in Orlando From NYC and contacted me for a day long private sketch lesson. As a geriatric physician, he was in town for a doctor's convention and had some time to himself before the convention got up to speed. I first met Dr. Levine when I gave an Urban Sketching Workshop in NYC. On the day of our Orlando workshop, we met at my Pine Street studio and went through his sketchbooks. I offered plenty of thumbnail sketches that pointed out computational ideas that i might have used when creating sketches from the same scenes. After a solid morning of pointers and discussion we walked over to Lake Eola where we ordered lunch and chatted some more. Dr. Levine is an accomplished artist in his own right so I learned from the exchange as well.

After lunch we walked across the street to the Lake Eola Wine Company to sketch inside an sip a couple of drinks.  This was the one time I relaxed and sketched along side Dr. Levine. Since we sat side by side he could compare the way I interpreted the scene compared to him. He absolutely loves creating art from direct observation but his medical practice and earning enough to live in NYC rule his life. I on the other hand have little going for me career wise except my art it is the one this that gets me up in the morning each day to pursue with a vengeance. I have been searching for a full time job opportunity lately with little luck. Every evening however I can assign myself a new sketch assignment and I am off to explore what makes the Orlando Arts scene so vibrant. My daily sketch assignments are exciting but not lucrative.  We are all rich in our own ways pursuing what we love.
