For Sophie, small-town life has never felt small. She has the Yum Yum Shoppe, with its famous fourteen flavors of ice cream; her beloved marching band, the pride and joy of Acadia High (even if the football team disagrees); and her four best friends, loving and infuriating, wonderfully weird and all she could ever ask for.
Then August moves in next door. A quiet guy with a magnetic smile, August seems determined to keep everyone at arm's length. Sophie in particular.
Country stars, revenge plots, and a few fake kisses (along with some excellent real ones) await Sophie in this hilarious, heartfelt story.
Author Question: What is your favorite thing about Famous in a Small Town?
I’d say my favorite thing about FAMOUS IN A SMALL TOWN is the relationship between the protagonist, Sophie, and her group of best friends. Sophie, Brit, Terrance, Dash, and Flora have grown up together in their small rural town, and have an incredibly tight bond as a group—they’ve seen each other at their best and their worst. In my previous books, I’ve explored the idea of a protagonist opening up and bonding with new people, or creating their own found family. With FAMOUS, I really wanted to dive into a found family that already exists, and has existed for years—through ups and downs and fights and crushes and tragedies and all that comes with growing up. I really enjoyed writing a group of friends that are so familiar and so comfortable with each other, and have developed so many in-jokes and private references over their years together. I hope that readers enjoy their time with Sophie and her friends as much as I did!
