POLL: Donald Trump Picks Up Support From Latinos. A LOT of Support.

Leftist mantra has been a border wall with Mexico is racism. Even though Mexico is a nation, not a race. But since, generally speaking, the people of Mexico have skin a darker white than the current majority of Americans, a border wall is racist. Not to be a ball-buster or anything, but a new poll from NPR/PBS, so hardly a bastion of conservative thought, shows Donald Trump actually picked up Latino support during our government shutdown. Over a border wall.

First, the approval by race in early December:

Which was 31 percent. Then the poll just released:

Now up to 50 percent approve.

That’s quite a jump. Also notice the other two demographics, white and African American, saw a dip in support. Which is curious.

The polling from the above two graphs is from national adults, NOT likely voters. Okay? Okay. But the conventional wisdom would have Trump losing support among the Latino demographic since that same conventional wisdom dictates a wall is racist.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib became a darling of the left when she promised to “impeach the motherf****r” (referring to President Trump) just hours after she was sworn in.

She once stated that pro-Israel American Jews are anti-American for supporting Israel.

And now a new photo was uncovered that revealed her true colors.

Representative Rashida Tlaib (D-MI-13) just posed in a picture with an anti-Israel activist that went viral on social media.

One of the photos shows Tlaib posing with Abbas Hamideh, who regularly bashes Israel and praises the terror organization Hezbollah:

Someone has already made a slight alteration to the map that hangs in Rashida Tlaib’s new congressional office.

But Tlaib is not the only member of the Democrat Party to be anti-Israel.

Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) revealed in a tweet that the Democratic Party has infighting over the BDS movement, with Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN-5) and Rashida Tlaib leading the charge for punishing Israel.

‘Settled Science’ Overturned Again. Researchers Now Say Avoiding Sun More Dangerous Than Exposure to Sun

Don’t eat cholesterol. Eggs are bad for you. Take your supplements. Fatty food makes you fat, and walking outside on a sunny day means you’ll probably die of cancer.

We’ve all heard the “expert advice” being dished out over the past few decades, but all of the above recommendations have something in common: They’ve been largely disproved by the same health industry that once said the opposite.

In an in-depth piece recently published by Outside Magazine, journalist Rowan Jacobsen pointed out that after years of telling the public to avoid the sun like a vampire and cover up with sunscreen, scientists are now questioning that advice.

It turns out that sun exposure is likely not as bad for you as “experts” once claimed, and may be absolutely vital for healthy living.

“Current guidelines for sun exposure are unhealthy and unscientific, controversial new research suggests,” Jacobson wrote.

It all comes down to D … vitamin D, that is.

“Vitamin D is a hormone manufactured by the skin with the help of sunlight. It’s difficult to obtain in sufficient quantities through diet,” Outdoor Magazine explained. “When our ancestors lived outdoors in tropical regions and ran around half naked, this wasn’t a problem. We produced all the vitamin D we needed from the sun.”

Of course, unless you’re a Kardashian, you probably keep more clothes on these days. The article summarized the advice nearly all of us have heard since we were kids: Don’t catch rays without sunscreen.

“But today most of us have indoor jobs, and when we do go outside, we’ve been taught to protect ourselves from dangerous UV rays, which can cause skin cancer,” the magazine said.

American Academy of Dermatology makes this very clear on its website, urging people to “protect your skin from the sun every day, even when it’s cloudy.” The consequence is that you won’t be naturally producing as much Vitamin D, but you can always take supplements for that, experts advised.

Except they seem to have been wildly off base.

“Yet vitamin D supplementation has failed spectacularly in clinical trials. Five years ago, researchers were already warning that it showed zero benefit, and the evidence has only grown stronger,” Jacobson said.

“In November, one of the largest and most rigorous trials of the vitamin ever conducted — in which 25,871 participants received high doses for five years — found no impact on cancer, heart disease, or stroke,” he said.

It turns out that one of the main assumptions made by “experts” was almost 180-degrees wrong. Taking Vitamin D supplements isn’t what’s actually good for people. What really makes a difference in preventing disease is getting a lot of sun.

A U.K. researcher named Richard Weller decided to challenge the conventional wisdom on sun exposure, and he discovered something amazing. It turns out that just stepping outside on nice days — sans sunscreen — is a very healthy lifestyle choice.

“Sure enough, when he exposed volunteers to the equivalent of 30 minutes of summer sunlight without sunscreen, their nitric oxide levels went up and their blood pressure went down,” Outdoor Magazine explained.

“Because of its connection to heart disease and strokes, blood pressure is the leading cause of premature death and disease in the world, and the reduction was of a magnitude large enough to prevent millions of deaths on a global level,” the outlet continued.

And skin cancer that we’ve all been told to worry about since we were children? The facts don’t back up the fears. Most skin cancers aren’t close to being deadly, and the health benefits of getting sun appear to dramatically outweigh the possible risks.

“Avoidance of sun exposure is a risk factor of a similar magnitude as smoking, in terms of life expectancy,” a recent study published in the Journal of Internal Medicine read.

Re-read that sentence again. Researchers are finding that simply avoiding the sun like we were once told is about as bad for your overall health as lighting up cigarettes. That’s staggering.

So what is the takeaway from all this? The most obvious, of course, is that you should stop fearing the sun and go outside, which is common sense.

But there’s another big point: We should stop blindly listening to “experts,” even if they claim to have science on their side.

This doesn’t mean that we should reject science or health professionals. What it does mean is that “settled science” is an oxymoron, and applying skepticism is important. There are implications here beyond longevity, with the current global warming hysteria the most obvious example.

Something repeated by a number of people doesn’t make it true. Reality doesn’t take votes. History has shown that it is often the rogue voice questioning the “settled science” who ends up being right.

Science is a process, not a set of answers carved in stone. When people raising valid questions and challenging official narratives are attacked and ostracized, something is wrong — and the skeptics just might be onto something.




Saudi Women (Accompanied by Men) Allowed to Watch Super Cup Football

Chaperoned by men, thousands of women thronged a Saudi stadium Wednesday for the Italian Supercup final between Juventus and AC Milan, in a match Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini described as “disgusting.”

The female football fans entered the King Abdullah Sports City stadium in western Jeddah city through specially designated turnstiles for “families”, with solo women barred from attending.

As Breitbart News reported, the match was hailed by Serie A president Gaetano Micciche as a “historic” contest that could drive Saudi women to take up the sport.

However other Italian politicians such as Brothers of Italy leader Giorgia Meloni joined Salvini and criticised the choice of location for the match.

She said, “Women can only go in the family areas, not alone, because Islam does not allow it, so an Italian woman who wanted to buy a ticket to watch the game alone or with a group of friends can not do it.”

“That is disgusting. Have we sold centuries of European civilisation and battles for the rights of women for money to the Saudis?” Meloni added.

Others called for the game to be moved outright due to the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi including human rights groups such as Amnesty International.

But with reports there were up to 15,000 women among the 62,000 crowd, accompanied by men or male children, Italian football league president Gaetano Micciche believes it was a success.

He said the presence of women in the stadium would go down in history as the first international competition that Saudi women were allowed to watch in a stadium.

The decision allowing women to attend football matches followed the announcement last year that the ban on women drivers in Saudi Arabia is to be lifted.

The loosening of restrictions falls in line with Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman’s modernization movement known as the “Vision 2030” economic program, which Saudi leadership officially approved in April, 2017. As well as promoting economic growth, the program also intends to liberalize many of the country’s Islamic conditions.

DOJ Official’s Handwritten Notes, Testimony Explode FBI/Dossier Scandal. FBI Knew Dossier Was Dirty

Things keep looking worse and worse for the FBI. To be clear, it isn’t the “boots on the ground” folks there, but the powers-that-be who have been the problem.

Some of the evidence of a corrupt culture at play in the upper ranks of the FBI comes in the form of handwritten notes and testimony from now-former Associate Attorney General Bruce Ohr.

In yet another report from investigative journalist John Solomon, an opinion contributor for The Hill, it’s been revealed that these notes and testimony contradict what we’ve been led to believe about the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrants issued to spy on the Donald Trump and his associates.

What we know is that the questionable dossier provided by former British spy Christopher Steele was a key reason the FISA warrants were issued. Officials have been unclear in regard to when exactly it was that they learned there was a problem with the dossier.

That problem is the fact that Perkins Coie, the law firm that represented the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential campaign, paid Steele for the dossier. That in and of itself is a reason to be suspicious about the dossier contents.

When did the FBI know about this problem? If it was before the FISA warrants were applied for, it means agency officials either didn’t care and possibly were working with the DNC and Clinton to take down then-presidential candidate Trump.

Either situation would mean they had no problem with violating the constitutionally protected rights of American citizens. Either would show an abuse of power within the FBI — an agency the American people need to be able to trust.

Last summer, Ohr testified that as of July 31, 2016, he had started warning the FBI and Department of Justice lawyers that there were problems with the dossier. He had pointed out to them multiple times that not only had Steele expressed bias against Trump, but he was working on a project connected to the Clinton campaign.

During his testimony, Ohr said, “I certainly told the FBI that Fusion GPS was working with, doing opposition research on Donald Trump. I provided information to the FBI when I thought Christopher Steele was, as I said, desperate that Trump not be elected.”

Later, he added, “So when I provided it to the FBI, I tried to be clear that this is source information, I don’t know how reliable it is. You’re going to have to check it out and be aware.”

This bombshell piece of Ohr’s testimony had been pointed out by Kimberley A. Strassel in a piece for The Wall Street Journal(behind a paywall) back in August 2018. At the time, Strassel noted that while the establishment media tried to downplay Ohr’s importance, in his testimony, he “confirm(ed) for Congress its worst suspicions about the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s abuse of its surveillance and sourcing rules.”

And we have more than his sworn testimony to go by in this matter.

Solomon wrote, “Ohr’s activities, chronicled in handwritten notes and congressional testimony I gleaned from sources, provide the most damning evidence to date that FBI and DOJ officials may have misled federal judges in October 2016 in their zeal to obtain the warrant targeting Trump adviser Carter Page just weeks before Election Day. They also contradict a key argument that House Democrats have made in their formal intelligence conclusions about the Russia case.”

In January 2017, The Guardian reported that over the prior summer (2016), the FBI had first sought to obtain a FISA warrant in order to surveil Trump team members. The court initially denied the request, asking for a more narrow focus. Then in October, after Ohr’s warnings about the dossier began, a FISA warrant was issued.

And the news gets even worse. Fox News reported that some of those individuals who were warned by Ohr about the dossier being possibly tainted are now part of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigative team.

This means that people who were informed about the problems and conflict with the Steele dossier are involved in continuing to investigate Trump and his team, based at least in part on that same dossier. They are not investigating Clinton or the DNC for their actions.

This is unacceptable and highlights an ongoing problem in our government. Trump has promised to “drain the swamp.” Some of that needs to be focused on the culture of corruption that seems to be running rampant in the FBI and DOJ.

Sen. Warren’s Plan to Wreck Prescription Drugs

(Chuck Muth) – Ronald Reagan famously declared the most terrifying words in the English language are: “I'm from the government and I'm here to help."

And that was WAY before Elizabeth Warren was elected to the U.S. Senate!

The problem Sen. Warren wants to “help” with is the unconscionable skyrocketing price of many brand-name drugs.  As Reuters noted in a post-New Year’s Day story…

“Nearly 30 drugmakers have taken steps to raise the US prices of their medicines in January, ending a self-declared halt to increases made by a pharma industry under pressure from the Trump administration.”

Now, it’s one thing – in a free market – for a brand-name drug manufacturer to set whatever price it wants during the patent period in which they are granted an exclusive monopoly on the sale of the drug.  

However, it’s another thing altogether when that manufacturer abuses the patent system to extend its monopoly control beyond the patent period to block cost-saving generic competition.  

And THAT’S the problem Congress should be focused on fixing.

But not Sen. Warren.

As noted by Dylan Scott of Vox.com just before Christmas, Warren and others in Washington, DC “would like the federal government to start manufacturing (generic) prescription drugs.”

If you like what the government has done to education in this country since Jimmy Carter involved the feds in our public schools, you’re gonna love this idea of having Uncle Sam get into the generic drug business for your blood pressure medicine.

Groucho Marx described this attitude of politicians long, long ago…

“The art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedies.”

Indeed, the problem here isn’t that there aren’t generic companies ready, willing and able to provide greater competition and lower prices for prescription drugs.  

The problem is brand-name drugs gaming the patent system to extend their monopoly control of certain drugs, thus extending the millions of dollars’ worth of profits by freezing out generic competition.

For example: As a brand-name drug approaches the end of its patent term, the manufacturer gets a patent extension by simply changing the drug from a tablet to a capsule.  Or changes the coating. Or changes it to a time-release formula.

Another tactic deployed is to deny generic drug manufacturers the samples they need to complete the FDA approval process to bring the generic version to market – again, thus keeping prices high and prolonging the monopoly profits enjoyed by the brand-name drug.

Sen. Warren’s government take-over of the generic drug industry will do NOTHING to fix those kinds of problems and lower drug costs – just as the government take-over of the health insurance market has done nothing to bring down the cost of health insurance.

Sen. Warren, please do us all a favor: Stop trying to help!
