August in the Basque Country, Vitoria-Gasteiz

We're so lucky to have July and August in northern Spain again. And plan on returning next year. We go to some trouble to avoid the local fiestas. Always in search of what's mellow, we'll never be found in Pamplona during San Fermin. Pais Vasco has a lot to offer travelers like us: cool nights and streets teeming with tapas bars, people very tolerant of our not-yet-quite-fluent Spanish.

It's flowering across the street, as we pack our suitcases on Calle Portal de Arriaga. Sad to leave Pais Vasco, but we'll be back next summer!
