Las Vegas Shooting: 6 Things We Know About Suspect Stephen Paddock

Six things are known about Stephen Paddock, the gunman suspected of killing at least 50 people and injuring more than 400 others after opening fire on a crowd at a Las Vegas country music festival. Police said he killed himself on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino before they broke into the room.
1. Age and hometown – Stephen Paddock was 64 years old and hails from Mesquite, Nevada, according to CNBC.
2. Paddock was seen with a woman in a car – Paddock had been traveling with an Asian woman believed to be a person of interest in investigations, CNBC noted. Police initially announced that the 62-year-old woman, identified as Marilou Danley, was wanted for questioning, believing her to be Paddock’s "companion." However, according to later reports by ABC News, she is not thought to have been involved in the shooting.
3. Police knew the suspect – Paddock was known to local law enforcement, although federal authorities did not allegedly have any previous knowledge of him, according to NBC.
4. Shooting not believed to be linked to terrorism – Paddock has no known connection to terrorism, CNBC News reported, adding that police have not identified the shooting as a terrorist attack.
5. Attacker believed to be a ‘lone wolf’ – The Mirror noted that Paddock reportedly acted alone and is not believed to have any connection to militant groups. Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said police were uncertain what Paddock’s motives were for the killing or what his belief system was.
“Right now, we believe he was the sole aggressor and the scene is static,” he said per the Express.
6. Numerous firearms were found in Paddock's hotel room – It’s believed that Paddock had checked into the hotel as a guest. NBC reported that multiple firearms had been recovered from his hotel room upon police investigations.
