Senate Confirms Mike Pompeo as Secretary of State --- Hooray

by KRISTINA WONG

CIA chief Mike Pompeo, seen here at a Senate hearing last May, says his agency was not behind the recent unrest in Iran
AFP/ JIM WATSON

The Senate on Thursday voted to confirm CIA Director Mike Pompeo as secretary of state in a bipartisan 57-42 vote.

In a departure from what has historically been a rubber stamp vote, the majority of Democrats voted against Pompeo.
Only a half a dozen Democrats voted to confirm Pompeo, primarily from red states that overwhelmingly went for Trump in 2018 and who are facing tough reelection fights.
Those Democrats included: Sens. Joe Donnelly (IN), Heidi Heitkamp (ND), Doug Jones (AL), Angus King (I-ME), Joe Manchin (WV), and Claire McCaskill (MO), and Bill Nelson (FL).
A number of senior Democratic leaders had come out against Pompeo, threatening his confirmation early on.
With Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) initially in opposition and Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) recovering from brain cancer treatment, Republicans needed at least one Democratic vote.
However, Paul reversed his opposition, after having several conversations with President Trump and Pompeo, saying his concerns over the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were assuaged.
After the vote, Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), the Senate majority whip, blasted Democrats who voted against Pompeo and for delaying the confirmation of a number of Trump appointees.
“The man has what it takes for the job. That’s why the no votes from our Democratic colleagues rang hollow,” he said after the vote.
He said Democrats were attempting to “lash out at President Trump,” which he called “disappointing” and a “sad break from tradition.”
“It’s a sorry continuation of the hyper-partisanship they’ve been engaging in,” he added, noting that one year ago, 14 Democrats and one Independent had voted to confirm Pompeo as CIA director.
Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) has said he opposed Pompeo’s nomination based on his gay marriage views, despite his 2008 endorsement of then-Sen. Barack Obama, who had the same views.

Bill Cosby Guilty of Drugging, Sexually Assaulting Woman

by BREITBART NEWS NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Bill Cosby was convicted Thursday of drugging and molesting a woman in the first big celebrity trial of the #MeToo era, completing the spectacular late-life downfall of a comedian who broke racial barriers in Hollywood on his way to TV superstardom as America’s Dad.
Cosby, 80, could end up spending his final years in prison after a jury concluded he sexually violated Temple University employee Andrea Constand at his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004. He claimed the encounter was consensual.
The verdict came after a two-week retrial in which prosecutors put five other women on the stand who testified that Cosby, married for 54 years, drugged and violated them, too. One of those women asked him through her tears, “You remember, don’t you, Mr. Cosby?”
The panel of seven men and five women reached a verdict after deliberating 14 hours over two days, vindicating prosecutors’ decision to retry Cosby after his first trial ended with a hung jury less than a year ago.
Cosby could get up to 10 years in prison on each of the three counts of aggravated indecent assault. He is likely to get less than that under state sentencing guidelines, but given his age, even a modest term could mean he will die behind bars.
Constand, 45, a former Temple women’s basketball administrator, told jurors that Cosby knocked her out with three blue pills he called “your friends” and then penetrated her with his fingers as she lay immobilized, unable to resist or say no.
It was the only criminal case to arise from a barrage of allegations from more than 60 women who said the former TV star drugged and molested them over a span of five decades.
“The time for the defendant to escape justice is over,” prosecutor Stewart Ryan said in his closing argument. “It’s finally time for the defendant to dine on the banquet of his own consequences.”
Another prosecutor, Kristen Feden, said Cosby was “nothing like the image that he played on TV” as sweater-wearing, wisdom-dispensing father of five Dr. Cliff Huxtable on “The Cosby Show.”
Cosby’s retrial took place against the backdrop of #MeToo, the movement against sexual misconduct that has taken down powerful men in rapid succession, among them Harvey Weinstein, Matt Lauer, Kevin Spacey and Sen. Al Franken.
The jurors all indicated they were aware of #MeToo but said before the trial they could remain impartial. Cosby’s lawyers slammed #MeToo, calling Cosby its victim and likening it to a witch hunt or a lynching.
After failing to win a conviction last year, prosecutors had more courtroom weapons at their disposal for the retrial. The other accusers’ testimony helped move the case beyond a he-said, she-said, allowing prosecutors to argue that Cosby was a menace to women long before he met Constand. Only one other accuser was permitted to testify at Cosby’s first trial.
Cosby’s new defense team, led by Michael Jackson lawyer Tom Mesereau, launched a highly aggressive attack on Constand and the other women.
Their star witness, a longtime Temple employee, testified that Constand once spoke of setting up a prominent person and suing. Constand sued Cosby after prosecutors initially declined to file charges, settling with him for nearly $3.4 million over a decade ago.
“You’re dealing with a pathological liar,” Mesereau told the jury.
His colleague on the defense team, Katheen Bliss, derided the other accusers as home-wreckers and suggested they made up their stories in a bid for money and fame.
But Cosby himself had long ago confirmed sordid revelations about drugs and extramarital sex.
In a deposition he gave over a decade ago as part of Constand’s lawsuit, Cosby acknowledged he had obtained quaaludes to give to women he wanted to have sex with, “the same as a person would say, ‘Have a drink.’” The sedative was a popular party drug before the U.S. banned it more than 30 years ago.
Cosby also acknowledged giving pills to Constand before their sexual encounter. But he identified them as the over-the-counter cold and allergy medicine Benadryl and insisted they were meant to help her relax.
The entertainer broke racial barriers as the first black actor to star in a network show, “I Spy,” in the 1960s. He created the top-ranked “Cosby Show” two decades later. He also found success with his “Fat Albert” animated TV show and served as pitchman for Jello-O pudding.
Later in his career, he attracted controversy for lecturing about social dysfunction in poor black neighborhoods, railing against young people stealing things and wearing baggy pants.
It was Cosby’s reputation as a public moralist that prompted a federal judge, acting in response to a request from The Associated Press, to unseal portions of the deposition.
Its release helped destroy the “Cosby Show” star’s career and good-guy image. It also prompted authorities to reopen the criminal investigation, and he was charged in late 2015.
The Associated Press does not typically identify people who say they are victims of sexual assault unless they grant permission. Constand has done so.

Newly Released Documents AGAIN Show Collusion Between Hillary And…

Hillary Clinton
It’s doubtful that there are very many Americans left out there who don’t fully realize the hornswoggling and bamboozling that lies at the center of Hillary Clinton’s rise to the top of the democratic party.
Over there course of the last few years, our worst fears about the former First Lady have become painfully true.  We’ve watched Hillary go from being just slightly deceitful to being one of the most ruthless and conniving carousers that the American political landscape has ever seen.  Some of this sentiment was brought to us by the fine folks over at Wikileaks, who published an exhaustingly long list of scandals in which Hillary has involved herself.
Of course, this didn’t even touch the troubling story of DNC staffer Seth Rich who, after being outed as a possible connection between the DNC and Wikileaks, was found murdered in a “botched robbery” that has been questioned thoroughly by the media and the American people alike.
Now, even after all of this incredible evidence of Hillary’s heinous wrongdoing, we are still learning of new infractions made by the former Secretary of State against We The People.  The list is a doozy.
Ten emails contain classified information redacted “in the interest of national defense or foreign policy,” including confidential sources, and concern Israel and the Middle East. Most of the emails include exchanges with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. The emails show Hillary Clinton conducted classified and sensitive negotiations about the Israel-Arab conflict on her unsecure, non-governmental server.
  • A document labeled “plan” was completely redacted as classified.
  • A November 2012 email chain discusses the “Mid East” and includes then-Deputy Chief of Staff Jake Sullivan, Blair as “aclb” and Clinton.
  • Another November 2012 email chain discusses the “Mid East” and includes Sullivan, Clinton’s office manager Claire Coleman, Blair and Clinton.
  • A November 2012 email chain fully redacted is titled “Mid East Peace” and includes Blair, Clinton, Obama’s Special Envoy to the Middle East David Hale as “haledm2@state.gov,” Sullivan and Blair’s Chief of Staff and former Downing Street aide Catherine Rimmer.
  • In an April 2011 email exchange between Blair, Clinton and Sullivan concerning “Israel,” Blair says he “had another long session with BB [Netanyahu].”
  • A May 2011 exchange concerns “Israel” and includes Blair, Clinton and Sullivan.
  • A May 2011 email concerns “Palestinians” and includes Blair, Clinton and Sullivan. Blair says, “I’ve also sent you a paper.”
  • A June 2011 email regarding “Israel” includes Blair, Sullivan and Clinton. Blair says, “Saw Israeli PM. Put the concept of a Q statement. He was receptive. Palestinians interested too. I know there are discussions also you guys are having. And the French initiative….”
  • In a July 2011 email – with several national security redactions – written by Blair to Clinton and Sullivan, Blair says, “I saw BB….. Molcho [chief negotiator in the Israeli negotiating team with the Palestinians] will speak to David Hale. I can see Cameron and Sarkozy with David…. I saw Egyptians….”
  • A September 2010 email exchange is titled “Info for you,” and includes Sullivan, Blair and Clinton. Blair writes that he just spent three hours with Netanyahu, and Sullivan, using his Sprint BlackBerry, he writes “We have pitched this to [redacted].”
What’s most troubling here is the fact that these emails were recovered from Clinton personal, unsecured and illegal server…the same one that James Comey famously let Hillary off the hook for, and then was later fired by President Trump over.

Giuliani Faces Off With Mueller
by: Max Greenwood

Giuliani Faces Off With Mueller
Former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani met with special counsel Robert Mueller on Tuesday to reopen negotiations over a possible interview with President Trump, The Washington Post reported.
Giuliani, Trump's newly appointed personal lawyer, cautioned that Trump and his advisers remain opposed to a possible interview with Mueller's investigators who are examining possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
Giuliani also sought answers from Mueller on when the investigation is expected to end, according to the Post.
Mueller reportedly told Giuliani that he wanted to ask the president about actions he took during the transition period in late 2016 before his administration and in early 2017 his first months in office. Understanding why Trump took certain actions, Mueller told Giuliani, would help investigators determine whether to end the investigation into possible obstruction of justice.

Jason Whitlock: Kanye West ‘Trying to Inspire African-Americans to Have a More Open Mind About Politics

by TRENT BAKER

Wednesday on Fox News Channel’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Fox Sports 1’s Jason Whitlock weighed in on rapper Kanye West’s tweets that expressed love and support for President Donald Trump.
Whitlock said he believes West is “trying to inspire African-Americans to have an open mind about politics.”
“I think he’s probably trying to inspire African-Americans to have a more open mind about politics and to be less demonizing of people we disagree with and understand that we’re all flawed, our president is flawed, but that doesn’t mean it’s an effective strategy to write that person off or write that side of politics off,” Whitlock told Tucker Carlson.
He added, “I just think Kanye’s being true to himself.”
Whitlock went on to say there has not been a competition for the black vote for 50-60 years, which is hurting the black community.

Millennial Mom Christina Hagan Runs Against Establishment in Ohio: ‘I’m Young And I Have a Country to Defend’
by JOHN BINDER

Christina Hagen, Baby
Christina Hagen Campaign

Ohio’s “America First” 16th District congressional candidate, State Rep. Christina Hagan (R), a 29-year-old wife and mother who’s been endorsed by “Women For Trump,” says she is running against the failures of the political establishment, telling Breitbart News that she has “a country to defend.”

During an interview with Breitbart News’s Political Editor Matt Boyle and Deputy Political Editor Amanda House on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Sunday, Hagan derided Democrats and the Republican establishment for failing to implement President Trump’s agenda to reduce legal immigration levels to boost the wages of American workers.
“The problem is, the Democrat Party and the Republican Party have been chasing special interest votes for so long that they have left the American people behind,” Hagan said. “And I simply will not do it because I can’t afford to do it. I’m young, and I have a country to defend.”
Hagan said immigration levels, at which the U.S. admits more than 1.5 million illegal and legal immigrants every year, needed to be reduced for both national security and economic reasons:
I mean being a young millennial conservative mother and having a strong perspective based in facts on the issue of immigration, both illegal and regular immigration.
Our United States population and the volume of people that we’re having entering the United States while we have impoverished veterans and veterans that aren’t being served and middle-class Americans who have had stagnated wages is a very serious both national security issue and an economic issue and its one that we cannot afford to ignore when we have $23 trillion in debt. [Emphasis added]
So as a legislator, I would have a very target, laser-focus on this specific issue. I would support things like the RAISE Act that the president has endorsed. I would fight to end chain migration. I would work on obviously getting the infrastructure, the wall built. I mean how long are we going to talk about building a wall and instead we’re continuing to fund Planned Parenthood and continuing to do all of the things we said we wouldn’t do on the campaign trail. For me, I’ve delivered on my campaign promises for the last seven years. That’s why people kept sending me back. [Emphasis added]
And when I go to Washington D.C., I’m going to do the things I said I would do and so we need to end the dangerous Diversity Visa Lottery. We can’t allow terrorists to come into this country on a Diversity Visa Lottery, it is absolutely ludicrous that we would put our American citizens in harm's way…
Hagan, who is opposed by the pro-mass immigration Chamber of Commerce, told Breitbart News that immigration-cutting reform efforts like Civil Rights icon Barbara Jordan‘s is evidence that Trump is interested in reducing the burden that mass immigration disproportionately places on working and middle-class Americans.
“When you understand that Barbara Jordan put forth similar immigration reforms under the Clinton administration, that then shows that our current president is not a racist; our president is pragmatic and he’s thinking about our future, just like the Democrat Party was several years ago,” Hagan said.
Americans are sick of Washington kicking the can down the road on illegal immigration. We must:

1) Secure our borders and build the Wall

2) Implement mandatory E-Verify

3) End the Diversity Visa Lottery

4) End Chain Migration

No more excuses. The time is NOW!#MAGA 🇺🇸
Hagan’s primary opponent, Anthony Gonzalez, has received the backing of the GOP establishment, including Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL). If elected, Hagan would be the youngest woman ever elected to Congress.
Listen to Christina Hagan’s full interview here:
Currently, the U.S. admits more than 1.5 million legal and illegal immigrants every year, with more than 70 percent coming to the country through the process known as “chain migration,” whereby naturalized citizens can bring an unlimited number of foreign relatives to the U.S. In the next 20 years, the current U.S. legal immigration system is on track to import roughly 15 million new foreign-born voters. Between seven and eight million of those foreign-born voters will arrive in the U.S. through chain migration.
The already slightly tightened labor market under Trump’s economic nationalist agenda, which Hagan avidly supports, has secured high-paying industry jobs for American teens, as well as history-making wage growth for American workers in the construction industry, the garment industry, for workers employed at small businesses, black Americans, restaurant workers, and high-paying wages for overtime workers.

Poll Shows Americans Side with Trump over Mueller Probe

An April 22 survey of a national sample of 1,000 likely voters conducted by McLaughlin & Associates and me, a former Clinton pollster, shows surprising support for President Trump and suspicion of the investigation by special prosecutor Robert Mueller.
•Voters do not believe Mueller has found “real evidence of corruption by the president” by a margin of 33 percent (yes) to 51 percent (no).
•By a ten point margin, voters believe Mueller has not uncovered any evidence that “President Trump colluded with Russia to influence the 2016 election.” Thirty-three percent said he had uncovered such evidence and 43 percent said he had not.
•But, by a margin of 43 percent to 35 percent, voters said Mueller’s investigation has “overstepped its designated purpose to investigate links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Trump by investigating individuals who had nothing to do with Russia.”
•And, America’s patience with Mueller’s probe is running out. Asked if they think “the investigation being conducted by special prosecutor Robert Mueller has gone on for too long and cost too much,” voters agreed by 52 percent to 32 percent.
But, when voters were asked if special prosecutor Mueller “is fairly investigating the president and just following the facts or if he is doing all he can to make a case against the president to try to remove him from office,” voters broke even with 40.4 percent saying he is just following the facts and 39.7 percent saying he is doing all he can to remove Trump from office.
Support for the president is widespread. By 50 percent to 40 percent, voters said Trump’s critics “need to stop hounding the president and let him do his job.”
But they do not want the president to fire Mueller, opposing doing so by 29 percent in favor and 52 percent opposed.
If the president did fire Mueller, voters believe by 56 percent to 36 percent that it would indicate “the president has something to hide.”
Voters are narrowly divided on whether Mueller should have searched the office of Trump’s attorney Michael Cohen. Asked if Mueller should not have searched Cohen’s office since the president “deserves the protection of attorney-client privilege,” 46 percent supported the search while 40 percent opposed it.
While the survey shows support for Trump, many voters view impeachment in partisan political terms with mainly Democrats wanting him impeached and removed from office. Forty-one percent of all voter supported the step while 45 percent opposed it.
Overall, the survey showed that 46.4 percent approve of Trump’s job performance while 51.7 percent disapprove.
(The fact that 52 percent of voters disapprove of Trump’s performance and 42 percent want him impeached, shows the extreme polarization of opinion in this country. Only about 10 percent of the voters disapprove of Trump’s job but are not willing to go so far as to say he should be removed!)
Asked which generic candidate they would support for Congress, voters split down the middle with 43.5 percent backing the Republican and 43.8 supporting the Democrat. (Because of the nature of the actual congressional districts, the Democrats generally are thought to need at least a 5 point margin to retake control because so many Democratic districts are nearly 100 percent Democrat while most Republican seats have a more closely divided partisan breakout. However Republicans cannot be complacent because the 13 percent who are undecided for Congress strongly disapprove of the job the Republican majority is doing in Congress and will break against them.)
In conclusion, the survey shows a pretty constant ten point margin for the president over Mueller. So, in effect, all Democrats support Mueller and all Republicans oppose him but, among independents, half oppose Mueller and half are undecided, giving Trump the edge.
But Trump can’t take it too far. Any attempt to remove Mueller would trigger a likely fatal backlash.
“So far all special counsel Mueller has done is added to the partisan polarization of a sharply divided country,” McLaughlin explained. “Most voters see the Mueller investigation through political lenses. Ironically if the president can increase his positive job approval rating beyond his base to rise among independents and moderates, just like President Clinton did, public opinion will turn against Mueller. So far the Mueller investigation appears to be simply a partisan tool that will go to any length to stop President Trump from succeeding.”
